  1. I think you be disappointed with me mate, as you jnow I am 70 now big old Buck 10, maybe he might go couple years he OK fit for his age. He out every day mooching, and take him out at night for quick 1/2just incase he might bump into the odd fox or munjack, but on average it quite 1/2 hour. I've thought long and hard think what I do when Buck gone. I don't work no more like used to, I always said to you, when he gone he be my last proper working lurcher, he been great hunting dog good mooching dog, and great in the lamp. What do I get a mature dog in say 3-4 year old male dog in, I don't want
  2. , nice little post, like drop of pit in a lurcher, I had 1/4 pit 3/4 Grey, black 26 in 70lb, fast not bad wind, caught quick, but long hard night he blow, not got wind!/pace like big old Buck, but diffent type x. How much bull in it?.
  3. Haha charts, well me, I've had la Ioads of things play me up, fooked lower back, and right knee, knackered shoulders, from the work I did in brewery, and falling of a 5 bar gate, fell. Over loads of times in dark lamping, been a rough old 35 years with lurchers. Now I am 70, only got 30 %earing, glaucoma in my right eye so it's blured, but I am out every day mooching with big old Buck, I will always have some kind of lurcher around if even just a pet like now. But the one thing that's knocked me back, is IBS, I get real bad stomach cramps, they double me over from pain. So they this fook
  4. Stiff right regards them being healthy big dogs compared to the bigger mastiff types, a lad by me got ped boerboel bitch, its knees fooked, cost £ 8000 , dogs only 6 year old , that was 2 years ago, i seen it the other day, still didnt move well. the prob is with most big mastiff breeds today, there over big, the original dogs were never this big, that bitch 65kg , the males hit 80kg , ok they were bred to be big dogs to handle the big cats, etc they were to just guard , and use there size if there 3- 4 of them loose, but they were not fookin 12-15 st dogs if they were this heavy
  5. thats poss a Fila Brazilian mastiff
  6. deff a 1/4 collie x 3/4 grey, i had the 3/8 c 5/8 g , was tough type dogs good coat feet, but lacked that bit of pace i think , my mate had a hancock 1/4 bred c 3/4 grey, big 27 in rough coated dog , took plenty of rabbits, few hares in the day, and killed foxes solo in the lamp, all in all a better type lurcher , had plenty of brain fast and not bad wind, when kept fit .!
  7. Cracking pup Terry mate, as you know, I've had collies, blaze, Bryn, Bryn was 1x collie x grey, blaze was 3/8 collie 5/8 grey, both very clever, love to please you, tons of energy, and I think prob one healthy type lurchers to have, collie generally very healthy animal. The down side to them, is there very sensitive dogs, easy to up set, old fookin Bryn, look at him wrong you was fooked for the day, mind you big Buck the same my 1x gsd xgrey, full on, when in hunting mode, but not working, like Bryn was, he big sensitive animal. If you treet them with kid gloves type there fine., you do w
  8. Thanks lads , for asking about me, there top people on here. I had a colonoscopy yersday, fookin painful thing to have, I've had bad stomach cramps for long while, but put it off, but couldn't take it anymore. Was long 40 mins, there took 3 biopsy , and 2 polyps from, they go to the lab, and check them, hopefully I be OK will know in about 3 weeks, anyway thanks lads.. Ray?
  9. Thanks Dan, got try to be positive, it only way as they say bud?
  10. Nice to have memories Keith deff, but the older I get I've just gone 70 this August, I think it best to put the memories to bed, and look to the future with our remaining time with got left, I was always thinking of my past, some ok, and crap. No doubt about getting old wank, but got try enjoy it while we fit and healthy, right now low, got hospital appointment 2pm, we stomach prob I've got,had it 2019, more fookin cameras In me, not eaten since Sunday , but there you go, as they say try make the best what life given you. It funny with age, I know a old bloke who 85, slim walks every day w
  11. Not read the full post. But a breed that have been used before in lurcher xs, is a Ridge back, I seen one few years ago, was whippet x Greyx ridge back x grey. Big strong dog think 26 1/2in, good wind, not bad pace, good head, on it as well, they used alot on pigs in Oz from what I read, be good as fox dog as well. ?
  12. Sorry that you and wilf, had listened to it, from what I've read it was like your heart being crushed, little children pleading for there lives. How did you get the invite to Dock, or was it just a public gallery type thing, don't think I could handle it. Any think that involves kids, makes rage very deep inside right to my soul, if I got one.!
  13. they are mate, like said on the post, good lamp dog and good mooching dog, not for me though to old now, but young bloke they be spot on, to give it the work, just mid size lurcher x lurcher type colliex wheaten x whippetx grey type be my next type lurcher if get another when Buck gone .
  14. i think the mal x lurcher make great knockabout type lurcher, good lamp dog, and good in the day, not over big, if the dam the mal bitch make say 23-25in good coat. they need lot of work, ok for a young fit person to take on, to much for me now at my age. lol , but like poxon said most norm type lurchers could do the same job, and bit easier to live with lol, prob thats what i go for next, just a lurcher x lurcher type with good coat mid size dog, collie x wheaten x whippet x grey type , when old Buck passed on , no rush though, the old bugger could kick about for couple more years y
  15. Didn't know that, prob shoot it, to stop it finding the mines, don't think they train it, as norm bond to there handler.
  16. Was that just, from the land mines going off etc, as all gsds, and mals, Dutch shepards, have great nose for finding anything, they find the mines, so saving the men, wonder if they did man work out there as well. I know what nicepix says regards a full on gsd power, my dog only 1/2 gsd 1/2 greyhound, but even though he old now at 10, he could still take me off my feet, like he nearly did last night, a cat came out of a field by me, get few cars about, so keep him on lead, that prat nearly took me in the road to get at it, hard to hold 40kg dog when fired up. Lol
  17. Yep, we watched it, wife loves it, no. Bloody goals yet, 2nd 1/2
  18. most running dogs in general are quite, ok you get the odd few bark, but most dont , feck me, Buck and bryn never barked , the big prat whine to go for a walk or his food, but apart form that never, he 1/2 gsd. i reckon it always good to keep a good old type jack Russell out side in a separate pen, that got good strong bars or mesh to it, ok i know they can shoot the dog etc, but that fecker would kick up enough fuss, to wake you. i knew family who had bullmastiffs, and people by them had a rottie , but people with bullmastiffs had there car nicked from there front drive neither bullmastif
  19. real sad to read this, it always hard to let go, feck me when i put old bryn down last year, he stopped eating , got cancer but he still like a walk even at 14. put him down in vet , i started to well up, and didn't even get on wtih the old prat lol. i know [BANNED TEXT] old Buck dies it break me up , because he was great lamp dog and easy to live with, good temp with people and dogs, it hard i think sometimes to get all 3 things. you going to get another dog mate? it help you to get over your old dog deff .
  20. yeh , he nice bloke ive pm few times , dont think he got bull breeds or lurchers no more, he got pure gsds from top working lines from east Europe , and they look brill, very fit healthy type dogs.
  21. Buck ears are set low like most lurchers , but ears most things, and he have a temp like that above dog, docile till it sees or smells game, then he full on , different dog the. regards cats he a twat , he kill them , ihad to be very careful with him , i think he must see a cat like does a fox, and think it on his kill list lol.

Didn't know that gnash, I from w-ton, and Walsall, bred simlar type staffs, that were quite leggy 15 - 19in 30lb-50lb. Where as right in the black country = Tipton, Cradley heath, Gornal etc, they bred more smaller, stocky type l staff. 14 - 16 in 30lb- 45lb dog. Prob both types went over to America, out crossed to other dogs they used over there, alot of people think they used a sent hound= black mouth, type dogs, to get more height, and stamina etc. The Yanks always denied this, saying the apbt pure breed, yeh it is, but it wasn't to begin with, as staffs, and there hounds, created

When you read all about the apbt owners of the past, they all preferred the smaller type bulldogs 17-20in 40-55lb , they were easier to handle. But if you got a real game 20in 60lb bulldog,, not much would live them they said, but always hard getting them. Stratton, colby said this in there books. Our staffs we had in 60s.were more like pits today, ours were 16-19in 40-55lb, the lines were from old black country = w-ton, Walsall, these type I think were the ones that went over the America to start the apbt lines of the breed, I did read that they may have had hound in there as well, Reid lin
