  1. Wildly impressive Billy, seriously. Phil
  2. I found myself in the same postion after buying my air rifle which also has a full barrel shroud and built in mod ,the guy in the shop told me not to bother getting the after factory mod at the time .I didnt notice that it loud in fact I thought it was nice and quiet but found after several trips to my permission when I had shot one of several rabbits sitting out together, the others would move off, once they heard the report ,so I started to look up you tube at videos showing the type of my rifle firing with and without the extra mod even though I wasnt 100% sure I decided to buy one .What I
  3. To be honest the Impact is very quiet and certainly quieter than the Rapid. I will look into a mod but it is not so simple as FX have a complete barrel shroud and mod combined at a price but I need to compare the noise with a normal sub 12 to get a comparison. I have not asked anyone else to fire it while I am down range which is the next step to see what the noise level is really like. The jury is out on this one as yet. Dave. I zero at 25mt simply because my rfd has a 25mt indoor range and I pop in there several times a week so easy to check zero. I may well take it out to 50mt as
  4. Thanks guys The Impact is sitting at 50fpe and the .25 has superb knock down power with a super flat trajectory which has been a surprise although I have not done any real testing beyond 65mt but this new perm has some perfect out of the wind areas that I can experiment on longer distances. To give you an idea of how flat, zero at 25mt, half milldot at 65mt which makes life pretty easy. I love this Impact. Phil
  5. Perhaps you are the geek Si.....................................still cannot get my tiny brain around bloody chairgun so I have stopped trying and do it the old fashioned way on the range or perm. At least I have confidence in my tests. Phil
  6. Nice one Mark. I see you part filled the mag to make us think you only used three pellets Only jesting matey. Phil
  7. My pal and myself had a trip around the estate to locate where the crows were doing the damage, only a few showing themselves but duly noted for a session by my pal tomorrow. He had been given a folding 28 gauge single barrel folding shotgun (poachers gun) many many years ago and had never fired it so tonight was the first time out, I missed a crow with it as I noted that my thumb was on top of the barrel, my normal hold on my o/u shotguns but on this little gun, my hand almost went all around the forend and barrel. We then went over to an area with old barns where the rabbits had done
  8. Seems like forever Mitch. My wife has sent off her shotgun certificate renewal and also application for firearms grant and as yet we have not had the police visit and that has been about 9 weeks but as her shotgun ticket doesn't run out until the end of July, we will have a fair wait yet. In my area it is approx 16 weeks for any new application but no problem as my ticket covers her guns as well. Phil
  9. I am a new member Dave, so how does this maping work Phil
  10. Fished off Cesil Beach a few times, really good. Very nice part of the world, never stayed there but used to travel across from East Devon. Hope you had a good un matey. Phil
  11. I now need to either buy an ordinance survey map or try to print out from google maps as this place is both large but also has a number of isolated ares spread across a wide area including some fields and ponds a couple of miles away. Looking at the perm again, I think we are looking at more shotgun shooting than airgun but with rabbit and squirrel, there is plenty of sport for both types of shooting. Phil
  12. I need to go back a few months when I had a brief chat with a farm manager to see if I could shoot rats in a small compound used to hold sugar beet to which he said I could. No rats showed and the sugar beet was moved away.....................end of. Last Sat I was at our village tip where a shooting pal and myself were chatting away when a Disco pulled up and hearing our conversation, the driver said we should talk to his farm manager as nobody was shooting on his family farm. The manager's name was passed across and we said we would get in touch. Tonight we went to see the ma
  13. Ratting ??? PCP every time, no farting around in the dark with single loading.....................oh no not me sir. Phil
  14. Oh blimey Jim, don't ever think it doesn't get used mate because it does, in fact I am off to the range tomorrow morning with it. There is no doubt that I am not very good with a springer and that is part of the fun as I learn to get better and I do enjoy shooting it. My garden range is not in use at present for various reasons so it has to be the range for now. The airsporter was THE rifle to have in my area and now I have one thanks to you mate. It gives me pleasure just owning the gun never mind shooting it. Phil
  15. When roving across the fields becomes too much, not anytime soon, I will stick to my clay shooting and bench rest shooting. If that is not possible, I will find something else, I am that sort of person. My long time clay shooting friend is 84 and is out shooting every week. My grandfather was still a keeper at 75 and the oldest active member of the clay club I am a member of is 89. If they can do it....................well you can bet I will be doing my best to do the same. Phil
  16. A nice scene Mark and one happy dog. Phil
  17. You are a tryer Dave, I will grant yo that...................... I would have a trip to one of the ex army sales places that are dotted around the UK and see if I could find a small ARGO cat or similar only trouble is I then need a 4x4 with trailer to get it there.............................................hmmm thinking cap on for the future. Phil
  18. Better PM him or you will not get an answer. Phil
  19. Ah, the gillie suit. They are made of mesh so even though it was dark or getting dark, it was still very warm and the gillie suit is cool to wear, only shorts and T-shirt on underneath cos I am hot stuff Jon Phil
  20. I really enjoyed that but would not want to be the sound man on the desk. Phil
  21. I bought a pair of the above sunshades which I thought were 40mm but in fact when they arrived were 50mm. Senior moment The model is HX3224 to fit Hawke Airmax EV 50mm AO and Panorama 50mm AO This is the product:- http://www.dauntseyguns.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=HX3224 £12 the pair posted Phil
  22. When I get older, losing my hair, when I'm 64.........................and so the song goes but as I have already passed that landmark, you sometimes think well it is going to be very boring not being able to get out with the gun or the rods as age creeps upon me and the knees give up the ghost even more....................until I saw this. http://www.golfxpress.com/B%204%20Hunting%20Cart.htm Or even better, this. I would have one now looks ace. http://www.tracfab.com/ Well there may be light at the end of the tunnel after all, just need a lottery win to pay for them. Phi
  23. I decided to go after a few rabbits last night to keep the farmer happy but things didn't quite go to plan. I arrived at the venue and as I pulled up two rabbits ran off down the track which was a good sign, at least they were around, the gun had the NiteSite already on although it was a bit early but I hate fitting it all in the field. As I walked along the track a rabbit was sat about 25mts away, with no thought I brought the gun up..............thump, NiteSite camera in the eye bloody fool. After my eye had stopped watering I made my way to the spot I had in my mind for an ambush
  24. Like the sling Jon, rifle is crap the sling is really nice. Phil
  25. BUT now you are selling it !!!!! I am not a springer man at all but I must just tell you that I had a TX200 which I could not hit a barn door with although Jimmy and Pianoman certainly could shoot it well, it was just me that was crap with a springer. Now we have a few very talented members on this forum, Mac is one of them and his instruction to you is really comprehensive but as I am cack handed with this sort of thing, I took my TX to Charlie Caller who did the work to tame this bloody gun for me. I cannot tell you just what a difference that made and even I was able to produce
