Like many things in life, I just didn't seem to get on with Chairgun, did the old fashioned way with targets at varying ranges, slow but it worked and I enjoyed doing it. The problem is seeing the bloody target spot nowadays ................................................................................. shut up Mark, don't go there you not quite as old twat. ? Phil

It was a converted life boat from and old cruise liner which we ( 4 of us) converted into a fishing boat. It was a displacement hull with an inboard diesel engine and very heavy so it was kept in Grimsby docks until the costs became too high. I dropped out then another until it was finally sold. Phil

I live next to the Number Rabid and used to part own a 30' boat to fish this area. There is a very active group fishing from Cleethorpes catching quite a few for at the moment. Hotels are easy at this time of the year and I am guessing quite cheap, will have to think where to keep the boat save while you are fast asleep. If interested, pm me and I will make some enquiries for you. Phil

I love laminated stocks and the green would be my choice although I love the green stocks that Bath lroduces, had I kept the Rapid fac, I was going to send it to Nath for his treatment. Phil

Just got back, only managed to find 3 ferals tonight around the farm buildings, two are still stuck on the steel beams and one dropped in amongst the cattle. Shame there are so few along with the rats, I need a new Ratting and feral pigeon perm as this one has gone very quiet although we haven't had any really co!d weather yet so it might still pick up............fingers crossed. Phil

Must admit that I love shooting ferals, going out tonight for a few. I am afraid it will only be a few as we have drastically reduced the numbers. Phil

It just seems that you like to knock fac users Mark by droning on and on about using springers and how any bugger can use a pcp. I openly admit to being crap with a springer but love using both sub12 and fac. You obviously love using your Springer which is great but please stop ramming down our throats that it is the only skilfull method to hunt with an air rifle, because Mark it is not. Phil

I really do like the look of that target sight. Phil

Depression is a very complex subject and there are situations which can have a huge bearing on the matter, for example, being clinically depressed building up to and going through a divorce which is completely overcome when remarrying or living with a new partner. Where in the country also seems to make a difference so it is not a cut and dried subject. I am a big believer in talking to the people that matter in a given situation and a privately arranged meeting with the firearms officer is a step in the right direction. Phil

Surprised you have time to work Mark. Made me think did this because I only have my 23 year old daughter at home but have one at 32 and a son at 49 sunning himself in Thailand at the moment, alright for some. Phil

One of the lads in the rifle / shotgun section uses a lurcher all the time from what I can see. Phil

Mine runs at 140bar on the reg after ASI reset it. I stick to AS Fields 25.4 which just seem to work fine. I agree Si the reg pressure gauge is not easy to read accurately although I know there are better ones that you can buy. Phil

I can't agree more Mitch with your view here. I have to say that I prefer short rifles so the 110K suits me perfectly in sub 12 far more than the 100TK I used to own but that is just down to personal preference. The FX rifles are without doubt fac market leaders which is understandable when you consider that most of their sales worldwide are fac based. I just wished I had the money to add the Crown .22 fac to my collection. Interesting what you are saying about having the Impact with the correct mounts in order to get the most out of them as it is of course with every gun BUT

I must confess it is really strange that Weihrauch do not seem able to produce an fac air rifle. I do recall seeing a Ted's Holdover vid where he had been given an HW100 .177 which was wildly inaccurate however he reduced the power to about 16-18fpe and then got decent results. I doubt there is anyone on the planet who would say the HW range is anything other than superb. The likes of FX have gained a fantastic following mainly because of the weight, adjustability, compact design, fac experience worldwide along with very good after sales and direct access to FX managing director. Basc air rifle member insurance
philpot replied to forest of dean redneck's topic in General Airgun Discussion
As an addition to my post, I should also have said, as a BASC member I get in the Game Fair free with a discount for my wife so that is 50% of the membership cost. Much greater value for money with BASC if you compare what you get for your cash. Phil -
Basc air rifle member insurance
philpot replied to forest of dean redneck's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I am with Si on this one. I have full membership which is discounted a little because I am an aging old tart but it covers me for all gun types and is well known to landowners and farmers alike. The other aspect is that these really are the voice of shooting where the government hold discussion groups so support them, No brainer IMO. Phil -
Nice going guys, a good bag. Phil

Well done Phill, a very nice place to develop your skills mate. If you are allowed, go for the rabbits in darkness because if the owners keep chasing them off, they may not emerge until night time. Phil

Thought police........................who are they. Phil

A guy told me that he swore by them for ratting, a pal of mine gave me one to try but in all honesty I didn't find it anywhere near as effective as using my NV units. Never knock it until you try it but I think they are not worth the money and the time testing them. Phil

With about 14 minutes to go before the New Year bells strike and I will be 67 years young, I will take the opportunity to wish you all A HAPPY NEW YEAR BOYS WITH MY VERY BEST WISHES Phil (old tart)

I am the same tillylamp but of course in my case I did get to hold the rod at my friends house and knew straightaway that it just felt right. Not so sure I would have just bought it blind either. Phil
