  1. I think predictive text has come in here and should read BSA Phil
  2. In all honesty, I have no idea as I only use side focus scopes so not an issue but bringing my logic into play, which no doubt is wrong, I would have thought the scope would need zeroing again at the new setting. Interesting topic. Phil
  3. Sorry lads the opening post was done on my tablet which has predictive text and I simply forget to check it before posting. I hate predictive text but don't know how to take the bloody thing off, must get my daughters to remove it. I do wish I could release some of the pressure on the trigger to have some fun in the garden with it, come on you clever lads, how do I do that. Phil
  4. Almost 55 years ago some friends of my parents, who I called aunty and uncle, bought for me my first gun and I suspect it may have been the first gun for some of you guys of a more mature age, shall we say. The gun in question was a Gat spring powered air pistol. Yesterday when I met up with my shooting partner to visit a landowner, he asked if I had ever heard of them and when I told him it was my first ever gun, he grinned and say there you go then handing a mint black Gat. I was well pleased as I have not seen one for God knows how many years. When I got home I grabbed some .177 pellet
  5. Whilst we are all keen shooting men otherwise we would not be on here but it is not just the act of shooting for a number of people, it is also about ownership. I take great pleasure in owning certain items and have collected things that please me and guns are no exception. I know of two people who have strong rooms in their homes to store all the guns they own. At one time I had 9 kayaks that I used for fishing both freshwater and at sea. I simply enjoyed taking different kayaks out but confess had to get rid of most of them because they took so much space. They didn't cost me anything t
  6. We went over to meet the land owner today and a walk around the site showed it was only around 15 acres but my God the rabbit scraping and Warren size made up for the fact this is by far the smallest perm we have. The field edges where the wardens are located on the edge of a overgrown pit or quarry which I said is full of rabbits but the guy who owned it was not in favour of shooting...................the landowner took us by surprised by saying that he owned the pit and we could help ourselves, well a nice little bonus there so now we have something a bit different and get again only minutes
  7. Good on you Tom, another good gesture from one of our members. Phil
  8. You can blame Mitch all you like RFB but we all know nobody is pushing you down this road, it is simply the fact that you are a weak willed sad man.................just like the rest of us so get the bugger paid for and send off the ticket to get another slot onboard. Your ticket will be back just in time to collect the gun. YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE Phil
  9. I think most farmers do have a shotgun but in this case the land owner is 15miles away so time is a factor and the fact that stealth is needed to make headway in reducing the rabbit population. I only know of one farmer that owns a rimfire rifle and having put a scope on for him so he could actually see through it, he now on odd occasions hits something. ?
  10. As it is only the single shot, I have seen them in my part of the world for around £350 -400 including scope. It would have been higher had it been the 410 but single shot are not very popular for hunting. Phil
  11. Not sure So but I remember reading about the many parts made abroad. Bet they don't make the barrel any more. Phil
  12. Then you will need to buy all the reloading out due to the cost of ammo. I used to load all my shotgun cartridges many years ago and would really enjoy getting back into that aspect of the sport. Phil
  13. I am glad you said that because to the Airsporter enthusiast, the Mk6, I was advised, is not one of the desirable ones. Phil
  14. The amount of overseas companies owning or making most of the parts for English companies does make that statement just a touch out of the window, very honourable on your part but not that realistic. Phil
  15. Good shooting BN. Love the green stock Phil
  16. Without doubt for me is my 110k, so so quiet Phil
  17. I want you to try one Jimmy and let us know if they are any good mate, then if they are okay, I will buy one ? Phil
  18. Depending on which model number it is ie Mk6 as some are far more desirable than others. If you find out which it is via the serial number, then you may or may not do okay. My RFD has 4 on the shelf around £150 - 220 which I was quite surprised at the price but they must think they will sell sooner or later although I suspect much later and bet they are still there in a few months. Phil
  19. Just phoned my RFD to chat over a couple of things when he tells me that a chap came in the shop looking for an air rifle but really had no comfort when holding the gun, after asking what he wanted the gun for, the man replied that he has some land he rents out and there are hundreds of rabbits causing a real issue with the wheat crop. It was suggested that buying a rifle is not the answer and would need a fair amount of practice before trying to reduce the rabbit population and instead of going that route, would he like someone to take care of the problem which will be more effective fro
  20. The 410 and the Scorpion have many followers so it is down to what feels right to you. I have not owned either but have shot both on a few occasions and whilst the 410 is a lovely gun, I far prefer the handling of the Scorpion. As Mitch said, you can get a reg for the Scorpion and then you really move up a gear. I know the 410 is a very difficult to have a reg fitted from what I have been told and not a job to undertake at home. If you prefer side lever cocking then as Si said the 510 is superb, no side lever cocking with any BSA. Good luck Phil
  21. Yes I have to agree the Swedes don't go in for lovely walnut stocks and a laminated would get buggered in no time so me too for the synthetic stock. Pity they don't do the synthetic green one like HW do. Phil
  22. To be honest I did loads of photos as we were doing the conversion but goodness knows what the hell I have did with them. I have a feeling I gave them to the guy who took over the boat when we all sold our shares. The trouble with aging is my memory fails at times...........................now what was I talking about. Put the kettle on. Phil
  23. Seen that one before Si, amazing shooting. It must be quite a scope he is using as well. Phil
  24. Yes I agree Simon they cannot be beaten in the right hands and you most certainly do have the right hands. I don't get excited about springers at all and I did enjoy the TX200 I had but found the pellet loading to be a pain at night and just too heavy for me to walk around the fields with, perhaps quite different in a hide where you are waiting for the target to come to you. As I have said before, I really did enjoy using an HW57 and bitterly regret not buying as it was a cracker to use, small one hole groups at 25mt on the indoor range and light enough to carry around. I know one or tw
