You're right, it's got nothing to do with me but the advert came up on my screen with all the spiel and bullshit, the fella is a peddler pure and simple and there's nowt wrong telling him that. If you think £800 is reasonable for what is just a bigged up cross breed then fair enough im not deffending him but from the add how can you tell he's a peddler??? Is breeding overpriced mongrels not peddling? If someone came on here selling 'cockpaoos' or 'labradoodles' for daft money you can bet your bottom dollar there would be comments of 'peddler' straight

Only type of labour she's likely to experience.

My take on it/, what the feck has it got to do with anyone other than the person parting with the cash?. The hunting fraternity get all upset about folk sticking their noses into the working dog game and their purpose in life trying to dictate what they can do etc, then the self same people stick their oar in about prices, breeds etc and uses of pet dogs. Practise what you preach.

What's black and tan and looks good on a paki? A doberman.

I've a weimaraner here that retrieves foxes no problem, Iwould think most HPR's, labs etc would be capable.

Spot on, common in collie crosses and now in a lot of strains of gundog, usually trialing types, no off button, I often watch collies (most common) performing at obedience, agility, springball etc and think that they would make lousy companions and at the end of the day the majority of lurchers whilst hunting dogs are companions too. It doesn't matter if you work your dog three/four days a week all season, you have to live with it all year and if the trait to work constantly/ be doing something is in there then it doesn't matter who owns or works it.

Fcuk off.

If I had a fecking pound for every time I heard the words uttered, I'm/ we're entitled usually by folks who have never done a days work in their life, then I'd be a wealthy man. As my old man often said, there's people who would wear a strait jacket before a working jacket.

Let's hope you don't cull the good ones. I'll be keeping in touch with the future new owners when she is giving birth for what they want My point exactly mate, some might pick a poor bitch over a good dog because the gender suits their kennels, or a second rate black pup over a quality white pup, no one can cull at an age that is acceptable without a glass ball.

As the title says, to all the collie enthusiasts out there, which and why.

Ok, I started ferreting in 1976, and I've never used a locator/collar on a ferret, also I've never lost a ferret although I've had a couple misplaced for a few days, but have been retrieved through various methods. I'm willing to concede I've left dead rabbits underground but as long as I retrieved my ferret I was happy to move on. I had lurchers that would mark a kill, arse scratcher, with the same accuracy as a collar and would lead me to the kill. I would use the dog to locate the ferret and rabbit and when digging, upon coming to a junction the dog would indicate which way to go, in fact o

Sounds right, make the new key just a plain key, no chip and hold the original key, with original chip near the barrel.

Contrary to misguided belief, a dog that hunts during the day can also be lamped as well and not put it's nose to the ground.

Tony Bliar by his own admission stated that labours open door policy was to increase their voting base, forget trying to win elections by good governing or good policies just ship your voters in from overseas. The Bstard should still be hanging from a gibbet outside parliment buildings.

You mean like the powers that be prevent me from coursing hares??. A slippery slope mate, I don't understand the pleasure people get from prancing around a ring with a dog, but then there's more people don't understand the pleasure a man gets from hunting. I look at dogs (most breeds actually) and even if they're not deformities in my eyes I still think, what in the name of Christ are they good for??. The Kc has no control over who breeds what, responsibility ultimately lies with the breeder. I can never understand people lamenting how any working breed is in danger of becoming extinct, th

The Kc don't set the breed standards the breed clubs do, all the Kc is, is a record of a pedigree dogs lineage which in a lot of cases is a total fabrication anyway. I love all this talk of the Kc ruining dogs, they don't breed dogs, they set no standards. Every year, every week of the shooting season I sit in a beaters trailer and stand at pegs beside Kc registered labs, cockers, springers amongst others that are fit for purpose. I'm not a fan of the Kc, but look to the breeders and breed clubs that reproduce some of these canine monstrocities.

Well as I said on a thread somewhere earlier, possibly the one that initiated this one if hares are being shot in large numbers year in year out then something is obviously working. That said I've never shot a hare and I can honestly say I would feel nauseated/guilty whatever if I stood in a line and shot hares driven towards me, however in the numbers mentioned the hare does cease to be a sporting animal and become a pest. I must be an old school dogman for I genuinely think the hare is deserving of better than meeting its end at the hands of someone who would probablyderive as much pleasure
