  1. As stated in an earlier post £350 for a well bred pup, seen pups from that price (cockers) to £650, add in springers, sprockers etc. 04fox08 I don't think anyone can tell you what you should be paying. Source a chosen breed in your price range and do your homework.
  2. True, which also would suggest the same for home vaccinating difference being which is, and I'm surprised no ones mentioned it, if it did happen you at least have a comeback having used a vet. You can whistle Dixie if you done it yourself and you might have built up a nasty bill trying to save your dog before it eventually dies.
  3. I don't know what they end up costing the vet, but I read years ago they cost just over thirty pence to produce. Anyone remember years ago Plummer had an on going debate/discussion with a manufacturer about how many pups could safely be vaccinated with one vial.
  4. Last I enquired the local greyhound guy was charging 16 quid for a vaccination, my own vet charges me 20 quid as I give him a fair bit of business and I'm pretty sure anyone just walking in off the street it's only 27. Add the fact your pup gets a checkover and you get a vaccination certificate then to me it's pointless doing it yourself.
  5. I'd have one purely because its a healthy, fit mastiff. But could someone answer what they do better than a big bull x? I'm genuinely interested,I've never even seen one let alone seen one work. I had mine from Plummers first mating purely because it was a healthy fit mastiff, what do they do better than a big bull cross?, not much I wouldn't think. Don't know why everyones getting in a tizzy, they're similar types at the end of the day, just personal preference. Borderscot, that's a lovely animal.
  6. To me the thing with religion is that some people need to believe and that therefore means when you snuff it there's an after life, they can't accept when you're dead, you're dead.
  7. That's your opinion mate and it could be argued hunting is competing. I'd also add most people with a gundog bitch they intended to breed would use a ftch stud if they had the opportunity.
  8. To an extent I agree with you but to say ftch means nothing is not strictly true. Yes some breeds are getting racier and speed is a consideration, but the dogs still have to be biddable and have a nose and do the job required to compete never mind win a trial.
  9. I'm no expert on bull types, I've owned a full apbt a son of Scotsmans Max and I've owned two alaunt types. Ad to that I've seen countless numbers of both and crosses in other peoples hands. On what I've seen and I stress the I've seen bit, the alaunt types were easier to live with and slower to take offence, IE a growl or a yapping terrier etc. Doing the job in the field, perhaps some bull cross lines were better, but across the board, hunting, pet, companion etc (as a lot of peoples dogs are) I'd opt for an alaunt. Cue, the diehard bull guys.
  10. Never had a bitch that had a phantom pregnancy, but over the years I've used Epsom salts many times to dry a bitch up after her pups were weaned. I'd also add I like pups off a bitch as soon as possible so some of the bitches were still quite heavy in milk. A teaspoon a day for a few days does the trick and the results have to be seen to be appreciated. Loose stools ( as opposed to scouring) does occur, never seen a bitch go down with dehydration due to it being used and it goes without saying access to plenty of fresh water at all times, which should be the case anyway.
  11. You put lemonade in your whisky ya poofs.
  12. Worse thing that can happen to a breed of dog is that someone in the public eye gets one.
  13. That is a massive favour, which ftch's are they? Can't tell you off hand mate, picking her up midweek and I'll have the names from her pedigree. Did you get the pup? I did mate, just through the door with her, slight mix up in communications she isn't off two FTCH's, both her parents are so her four grandparents are FTCH's. Legally docked, microchipped and first vaccination, black in colour and a right wee switched on pup she is.
  14. On another note, should his wife get a seat in the house of Lords ?.
  15. Best indication is the pups themselves, if they're fat, full and content they're getting enough. Some bitches produce milk like jersey cows and some just provide what's required.

  17. Golden retriever bitch, first pup noon Thursday, last pup ( number 15) 6.00pm Friday, thirty hours from start to finish.
  18. I've a cocker bitch coming next week, FTCHxFTCH and I'm paying £350 and that's a friend doing me a massive favour. A well bred cocker will usually set you back £500 to £600.
  19. Come into power of what ? I cant for the life of me understand why they call themself the English Defence League in the first place......they are not about defended England at all they have just singled out a group of people they dont like and think wrapping a St George cross flag around them seems to legitimise them as some sort of die hard patriots.........that clip said " we welcome any races " well f**k me make your minds up since when did defending England mean you dilute it into something with no resmblance to England !!........If they stand against Islamic hatred then great....but
