Tell you what, it's just me, I,'m a troublesome git, guilty. Or go back and look at everyone of those pictures with a multitude of dogs and a single rabbit and tell me it's not shoddy. In everyone of the situations photographed a single dog would have faired better, they're all so intent on beating the other dog to the prize they're making hard work of a simple rabbit that each and everyone of them would have caught with less effort being run solo. The red collie cross is the only one who looks focused. It's a circus. Clowns up next.

I have mate, It's called the beer tent.

Total crap, the ruination of a good lurcher is running it mob handed, it's healthy?, why ? to instill bad habits and waste a lot of time, training and effort.

As i tried to point out Mackay, it is not a serious days hunting. If it were, things would be much different. It is great fun being out and about with a bobbery pack, no stress The 'wee shit' had been given that rabbit as reward, she put a LOT of work into finding those rabbits, to not get one in her mouth at the end. Jackoleeds, i actually predicted to the lads today that the grump's were about to start. Now i am posting more threads, i can see the negativity creeping in more and more, gentle at first then it escalates. It happens all the time, people cannot stand to see anyone enjoying

Well I actually thought long and hard before posting, but here goes, more bodies than the London march, christ knows how many dogs in total and all running riot on a single rabbit and as for that unruly wee shit hanging from rabbits, well I'll refrain from saying what I'd do with that. Everyone has their own style of hunting, which is fair enough, but from where I'm sitting that looks far from enjoyable.

COLLIE GREYHOUND THE WORST DOGS IVE SEEN..........

I never at any time said your dogs weren't worked but then again you never proved you could train a dog, just a post on the internet claiming it. -
COLLIE GREYHOUND THE WORST DOGS IVE SEEN..........

I think I've mentioned a few times the field trials had purpose and maybe I was unlucky the year I spectated or perhaps my standards are a little higher than yours. -
COLLIE GREYHOUND THE WORST DOGS IVE SEEN..........
mackay replied to 2.8 guy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
No I think at the end of the day the obedience required, IE sit, stay, blind stay, heel, retrieve, jump, recall is pretty much all that is required. Problem being people were owning collie crosses, training them to this standard (which is commendable although not taxing) competing at a local show against little competition and next thing heyho they're representing their country in the final often with a dog (and in many cases owner) with no hunting experience. I'm a fan of obedience and as I said earlier the field trials had good intentions but at the end of the day obedience should enhance an -
COLLIE GREYHOUND THE WORST DOGS IVE SEEN..........
mackay replied to 2.8 guy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Obedience is a must in a working lurcher but only if incorporated into hunting, an obedient dog with no exposure to hunting is simply an obedient dog and not a catcher of game. I attended the NLRC field trials at Blairgowrie 1992 ( I think) and I wouldn't have paid tuppence for any dog there. Too much emphasis had been put on obedience whereas it was blatantly obvious the dogs present lacked hands on experience. I'm not knocking the trials the whole idea was to bring an element of respectability to lurcher ownership and fair play to all the people who tried to make that happen by having biddab -
COLLIE GREYHOUND THE WORST DOGS IVE SEEN..........
mackay replied to 2.8 guy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I had a first cross border collie greyhound from Hancock, sired by Rufus the red which seemed to produce good all round dogs. The one thing I did notice all those years ago was that many people incapable of training a dog bought a collie cross (often from Hancock) thinking due to it's collie makeup it would be clever, self enter and require little training and then find this wasn't the case and promptly blame the dog and also the breeder. The bitch I had was superb, racy enough to be a good all rounder taking all quarry, she had an inbuilt hatred of foxes and anything else with teeth. She caug -
She should without doubt be sacked, not for her statements as I suspect most people myself included aren't as easily offended as our ethnic counterparts. She should go quite simply because, if the shoe were on the other foot and a white Mp made a statement akin to hers you can guarantee they would be hounded from office. Also as has been shown here it's not a one off, she has previous for it. Enough to call her integrity into question.

Some of the easiest (if easy is the right word to use regarding hares) I've seen caught were at the bigger end of the scale, whereas some of the best and many memorable runs were average sized. Not saying this is the case the country over just my experience.

Expected a response, although not from you, I find your posts very entertaining and your photos are class, my post was not directed at anyone but everyone (work that one out) nowadays it all seems to be about numbers and results whereas years ago quality and enjoyment seemed to be the main factor. People hunted for pleasure rather than results. Maybe I'm getting old..

After reading many varied and interesting posts of hunting exploits it comes across to me that very few people hunt alone nowadays and rather than being a one man solitary venture has become more of a social pastime with some perverse point to prove. What also with digital cameras, camcorders and all the latest technology the dog and ferret play second fiddle to the expectations of the digital world. Is hunting in the true sense of the word (when we walked all day in pursuit of game and often caught none) gone. The internet has launched us into new realms where pretenders can make outlandish

It's the old whippet thing again, a bit like small man syndrome, we're small but just as capable. Sadly not in my experience, whippets are one trick ponies and that is rabbits, they lack coat, feet and all round endurance, the one thing they don't lack is heart but across the board that is sadly not enough. I think whippet owners need to wake up and smell the coffee, they're not the robust all round hardy animals most would have us believe, breed loyalty is commendable breed blindness is not so. Over the years (quite a few) I've had many whippet owners tell me that they will take me out and

Wasn't collie blood added to the field trialling lines a few years back to sharpen them up competition wise ??.

Nice looking dog, going back to a saluki might not be detrimental to a mooching dog but I wouldn't be inclined to take a good mooching dog to a saluki to improve its hunting and mooching ability. The dog looks like it has collie blood in it (might be wrong) if so i'd be more inclined to think that's where your mooching instinct is coming from. Either way it's a lovely looking animal and whatever its makeup it's doing what you want it to do.

Blair and his luvvies have fcuked this country big time, we'll look back in years and wonder why we sat back and accepted it, A way of life and British tradition and culture will be no more having been sacrificed by the b@stards to shore up their voting base. Between immigration and free handouts to all and sundry, idle sponging gits and rewarding kids for having kids they've brought this country to its knees, something Hitler didn't even manage to do.

Forget Thatcher as a person for a minute then and someone tell me why in thirteen years of government the labour party did not reopen pits and invest heavily in the steel industry. The money Blair and his cronies squandered on benefits disability and the like and catering for every feckin waif and stray from all over the globe would have financed every pit (and therefor communities) the length and breadth of the country. A lot of people here seem to have short and selective memories.
-
So why didn't labour with thirteen years to do it re open pits then??. Maggie Thatcher had her faults but she looked you in the eye and shafted you unlike your limp wristed labour/liberal sore arses.

Gadaffi most likely deserved to die, if not for the crimes we think he instigated and commited then certainly for the ones we haven't heard about. He probably deserved to die in pain and fear the same as his victims did. Fair enough. Still gives me a bad feeling watching those ragheads though.
