  1. I would say that a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie would suit more people than a first cross, they have brains as well as speed, but, in the right hands in rougher ground I think a first cross comes into it's own. I've owned both mate and both have their special qualities so to speak. My preference, I'd say a racier type first cross.
  2. Yep, missed that point, take the knocks better, rarely injured, tougher hides and good feet, more so than their racier counterparts.
  3. One of the criticisms levelled at collie crosses is that they don't always try and are too picky regarding quarry. Now I like collie blooded dogs, but even being a fan and most of the dogs I've owned have been collie influenced I can still understand why some people are slightly disillusioned with them. Until you get to 3/4 1/4 no matter how game (another subject) your unlikely to have a dog with a gung ho attitude, but they go about their business and put game in the bag. Over the years I've had a walk out with people and dogs of various breeding and whilst they buzz about looking busy at
  4. Mate I don't care what you think to be honest, you've shown to me in your posts in this thread what type of person you are.You started by crabbing the dog then progressed to slagging the owners of the pups, school playground stuff really. I'll continue to add pictures and comment on my pup whenever I feel like it and if this thread reaches 100 pages of crabbing, personal insults etc so be it but one thing will be certain "I'll enjoy bringing the dog on!" Crabbing the dog??. This is where it all started simply because people like yourself don't want to hear another mans opinion, go b
  5. Good come back, but I'm pretty sure if people compare my history to yours they'll make their own decision.
  6. A valid question, I've bred two litters of lurchers in 30 yrs, the fiirst for a pup which died in the field, six pups, the second to replace it, both times same parents, second time time ten pups, both times I hadn't enough pups to give each person one,, of a litter of three I wouldn't expect to see any on here, especially with the clowns who have them.
  7. Yes, Most people would buy a pup and get on with it, you and Mullet have been attention seeking for twenty four pages, bugger off and work your dog.
  8. PP, I'm not disputing or questioning the dogs or your capabilities, you come across as a decent dog working type, all the qualities mentioned, no more than a well bred collie cross, and I'm speaking from experience. My irk is a couple of wanabees and their mates have latched on and are now feeding off your dogs and hunting exploits. 24 odd pages of pish, that's a fact, my pups eating, my pups shitting, says it all. Come back in a year or eighteen months and post something worth reading.
  9. If that's aimed at me, well I'm I'm not getting at anyone, I like cloddy, purpose bred collie crosses, they do what it says on the tin. But rarely if ever are they good looking.
  10. I,ve had mostly collie blooded dogs mate and I rate them highly, but, even when they're physically perfect they rarely look as good as other types, not a derogatory notion, simple fact.
  11. He is looking the part too mate.. Now firstly, I like collie lurchers, and I know looks are decieving, I've owned them, but after how many pages of luv you luv me to say that dog looks the part says it all. If the photo was taken in Hancocks yard would you say that. It's a collie lurcher and handy and capable as it might well be, it doesn't look the part. he is just a "ugly" cur mate he will never be as good looking as his half sisters lol The point I was making as you have picked up on is that regardless of how handy a dog he is, he doesn't look the part, as compared to
  12. You've quite clearly missed the point I don't care about looks, as for game books, do you believe every written word??. Says it all really I would want to witness it not read it. As a man once said, don't tell me, show me. Word of mouth is clearly all you require.

  14. Looking at the Don dog and resulting pups, well me personally I see collie lurchers, the qualities and attributes talked about I would expect from a collie blooded dog, I like them but then I'm a fan of collie lurchers. My point being, they're called Minshaws and lavished with endorsements which people attribute to the Minshaw name, could it be that they are just collie lurchers pure and simple. I'm pretty sure anyone who has owned a collie saturated lurcher can relate to the qualities talked about and think rather than anything exceptional they are actually the norm.
  15. I've always found that people who condemn inbreeding and have a ready supply of horror stories and reasons why not to, have never in fact inbred. Humans aside, (well maybe not) inbreeding this closely and tighter from resulting off spring does occur in the wild, no species would exist if not for inbreeding it's that simple. I have and know many people who have bred this way and whilst it might not have improved stock it certainly had no ill effects. I would say throwing two unrelated dogs (or whatever) together just because they are unrelated has as much chance of throwing undesirable traits

    BIG CAT!!

    If that's a normal sized cat she's a munchkin.
  17. Any vet could x ray your dogs hips mate, they then send the plates to the bva to be scored, your vet should be able to give you an indication of whether its worth sending them or not. I'd do the eyes first its the cheaper of the two and if your dog fails on its eyes then there's not really any point in hip scoring it.
  18. who are you again?? The one who has made a handful of posts but knows so much about my dogs!! You don't learn by writing posts mate, you learn by sitting back and reading, that's not personal, it applies across the board.
  19. They come from abroad purely to use the NHS, the government actually concedes this fact. they're classed as NHS tourists. Get some publicity mate.
  20. The one where Trigger says he's had his road sweeping brush since he started the job twenty years ago, it's had six new heads and seven shafts.
  21. I think if I was needing a life saving organ I wouldn't be too worried what colour the donors skin was. I 'm registered to donate but I do think registering to opt out would be the way to go, also anyone who chooses to opt out and basically deprive some other person the chance of life should not be given the chance of a transplant, if you refuse to give you should lose the option of receiving.
  22. And then finishes with a medley of wock and woll.
  23. I could put money on now,who would be in this exclusive club same old faces, same old repertoire, It,s either an open forum or not, as we're so often reminded from mods and admin when people call for censorship, closed shop, people being vouched for, if your doing nothing wrong you've nothing to hide. What's changed ??.
  24. Some of those Alaunts look the business. Do you have any pix mate? Either the Alaunt or anything they've produced bred with the Mastiff? Cheers Search alaunt mate, plenty of pictures, check out lietome's posts some nice examples there.
