  1. Pleased to hear it's found a good home.
  2. Sounds a good home with you pal, never know might fall through, pm wh just incase Well, we all like to think we give the best home going, but I genuinely think for certain breeds that a farm cannot be beaten for a home, and having had dogs all my life, they are part of you, not just "another animal".
  3. Has it definitely gone ? If it does fall through today I would appreciate knowing as I would be very interested in him, looking for exactly that sort of dog for round the farm, clearing a few rats and generally been out and about with me, not interested in selling for profit or the likes, I want him for company and the odd bit of work, no better home available, he would live in the house, and be fed good grub, kept warm, dry and safe, vets as and when needed, and his days would be filled with going round the farm, rats and rabbits if he had an interest in them, and hopefully if he likes travel
  4. Good luck, same boat here, and oddly enough also in Bedfordshire !
  5. Beds police don't even like drink drive convictions it seems, been struggling for months with mine now
  6. Sorry to hear your loss Rich, never easy, I had thought it had been quiet on here with no reports, pleased to see your out and about and dropping a few again.
  7. Beautiful looking birds, I had some reeves and lady Amherst as a kid, would love to start keeping them again, may look into it this year.
  8. It's also illegal to trap them without a licence, speak to the ea, it costs nothing.
  9. I had a diesel Range Rover, it made a huge difference to power, and it upped my mpg by about 6mpg, I didn't buy it, it came fitted, but when I had injector pump problems I took it off just in case, aft fixing the pump I refitted it after a few months a noticed the difference, yes, I would have one again, but I would research the motor and chip first as I have heard not all of them give good results
  10. They are so crowded round my way we see them all day long, they are like vermin, reckon your right though, not many people seem to shoot them.
  11. Ok, well 10lb is an ok ish size from the boat down my way, anything over 20 is what we class a good fish, same as you though, the sizes have been dropping for a good few years now. Norway has also been on my to do list, but just can't get over the cost as a single angler, Mrs don't do boats or fishing, only ever been up the estuary on my boat, never out to sea.
  12. No idea what killed it, but Pretty looking snake, what size was it ? Nice rotti in your avatar, looking for one myself
  13. Very nice job pal, and some good kit, will make a perfect set up, looking at doing something my self soon from one of my buildings, what is the parlour board ? And where did you source the chiller, I desperately need one of them.
  14. Is that a good stamp of cod from the boat up your way ? This one fell to cuttle last weekend, one of about 20 fish all into doubles, less than a mile from the shore.
  15. A few years back I had two weeks in Southern Ireland pike fishing, travelled around a lot and had some good sport, something I would like to do again.
  16. My mate has these on his ranger, they are pretty bloody good, I would say they edge the bf Goodrich I used to have, and quieter on road as well.
  17. Rabid, making good dry cured bacon is nowhere near as labour intensive as making sausages, and you need no special equipment other than large griplock plastic bags. Dry cures are easily available from butcher suppliers such as scobiesdirect where it is currently £2.45 for a kg of cure, and at about 40 grams of cure per kilo of meat/fat represents good value IMO when you compare it to that pumped shite that shrinks by half when you cook it as it oozes the white froth. If you use a 2" thick piece of belly you could be tucking in to it in about 5 days. That's good news indeed, I will look into
  18. Yep, they have said I get the liver back (that was a must for me) not sure about the heart, I can certainly have the head, will ask about the trotters. Included in the price is 6kgs of sausages, any more and they charge £3 a kilo which sounded steep to me. I won't bother too much about bacon from the first few, I will get a dedicated bacon pig, but first I want to see how easy it is to do the bacon myself, as fairly sure that will be a costly exercise at the butchers.
  19. Where are you for collection ? Sorry to hear some scrote robbed your rapid though
  20. Well I got my Cph number so good to get some, been quoted £50 a head for slaughter and butchering which I didn't think was bad ?
  21. Nowt as queer as insurance companies, I have a trade policy, I have a few vans on it, any driver etc etc, well long story short, I had a ban, got my licence back, insurance said they would not cover me on the policy for two years, so I looked around for a personal policy, did a compare jobbie online, first and cheapest company to come back were the same firm as my trade policy, I had been 100% truthful about my conviction, spoke to them on the phone, re-iterated the ban, they said 'no problem' ! I also had to send them a code to gain access to my dvla details for my trade policy, but not my p
  22. Thanks, will have a butchers, the Mrs makes some awesome soups but not often enough (always too busy) so quite fancy one of these to have a go myself
  23. Run my own Groundworks, so try and manage my time well enough to get out as often as possible, which is a must as I got so many hobbies !
