  1. I am hatching a minimum of 50 a week at the moment, but some weeks it's nearer 100, if I upscale I would be looking at more like 1000 every week. Think the r-com would do me for now, but it may become redundant very soon, only really want to buy once.
  2. Cheers, I have heard that from other r-com users, am looking around at the moment see what's about. On a side note I am still considering upping the game and going larger scale than I already am, so also looking at large cabinet incubators and hatchery as well.
  3. Bang on advice pal, I done a few ponds for mates now, learnt the trade building boats
  4. Tell you a story, about 17 year ago I had a litter of rotti pups, she had 15 pups, all survived, most of them were spoken for before they were born to people who I knew, family etc etc, but I didn't expect to get so many, so I said to a few folk I had a few spare and to put the word about, now I had this snotty bitch ring up, I took an instant dislike to her, so I said 'yeah I got a pup, I want 2 grand for it ! (Had been selling them for £150) She didn't quibble, money was obviously no object to her, so then I says I want to meet you, see your place and make sure all is good for one of my pup
  5. I think truth be told you have to gauge humidity by the air space in the egg, I know years ago we used to dangle the eggs regular as you liked, I remember asking why we did it if we knew they were fertile, think he said it was to check the chicks progress, I have been reading up on it these last few weeks and quite a few of the older books mention similar things
  6. As per title lads, where is the best place to buy mk4 fens from at a good price. Seems over the years mine have dwindled to the point I can only find one In the sheds !

    Drop Long Nets

Cheers, am currently working through old threads, taking some time though ! It wouldn't be a one off, I have quite a lot of land and places I could use it after the initial problem field, I have been looking at ideas to convert my 100 yrd net
  8. I have set a long net once or twice, but certainly no expert in it, my predicament, I have one field that is always loaded with rabbits along two of the hedges, but only a very small field, the rabbits rarely venture more than 10- 20 yards from the hedge. I was thinking there must be a way to set a long net up on tall poles during the day, with a release pin that can be pulled from a distance so the net drops down the poles and sets, then when I walk in the field instead of the rabbits all gone, the first they will know is the net dropping and if they bolt back it will be into the net, is the
  9. Mk1 for me, I tried the mk3 once and just couldn't get on with it
  10. What would you all say is favourite floor material ? I was thinking either leave it as grass, or perhaps some bark mulch down ?
  11. Thanks navek, couple of good idea, do the songbirds like sitting in the rain ? I presumed they would prefer a covered roof, not a problem though. They are some lovely birds in that last pic, I like those a lot, much fancier than my ones.
  12. Yeah that's what they are in now, but seen as I like easy access, collecting eggs, I thought an aviary to fill the space I am looking at, and get some nice aviary birds if they can live together, sorted.
  13. Interesting, I would love a crack at them. Wish we had a good head of them here, especially if they breed like rabbits !
  14. I am planning to build an aviary, mainly it was a plan for somewhere my quails can live in, that I can walk in without bending, but the more I think about it, the more I would like to try keeping some more colourful birds with some song to them. Is it feasible to have quail in the bottom of an aviary ? Or should I shelve the idea of keeping them together. I have an ideal place to build one, it has a large wall on the back, and a smaller wall on one end, so I would need a front, one end, and a roof. The size is approx 15 foot long, and I was thinking about 6 foot wide but could go up t
  15. Hi, I am looking for a dedicated hatcher to run alongside my brinsea advance 380, must be able to hold a minimum of 50 eggs, preferably 100, don't mind travelling for the right machine. Thanks, Rob.
  16. Due to issues with getting the humidity right, I am looking for a separate hatcher so I can just run the brinesea as an incubator and hopefully keep humidity and temps more stable, so looking to buy a hatcher, must hold a minimum of 50 eggs. Thanks, Rob.
  17. Won't need footings for a sectional garage, that's overkill, I would only put footings in if its a brick build. Not over kill at all , with that type of footing you can build a nice brick or block built garage ,with a tiled roof or a timber framed with tiles Agreed, but he is building a sectional garage, hence = overkill
  18. 1280 kg cement7200 kg ballast 1200 litres water approx depending on slump I don't know what your quarry dust is like, I would be looking at approx 2.5 ton of sand and 4.7 ton of stone, so depends how much 'fines' content is in it.

  20. Join the club pal, I have the brinesea advance, when I candle I am getting excellent fertility, but probably loosing a third of them due to not hatching or dying straight away. I posted a thread on here, take a look at the replies, some interesting comments. I am playing with the settings at the mo, everything seems to point towards humidity rather than temperature, I ran my incubator dry last week until the eggs went into the bottom for hatching before adding any water, I also opened the vents more for better oxygen, mine should start hatching tomorrow, but I have two chicks out and look
  21. We generally chuck them in a hole, or out of sight in a hedge somewhere. Interestingly enough, a few weeks back I sat watching two badgers mooching around a hedge bottom where I knew a fox carcass was, watching them through the nv scope it was interesting to see one started to tuck in, then tried to drag it away, moved it maybe 20-30 yards then left it, next day it had dissapeared
  22. 37,820 kg's to be exact Lol
  23. Excellent thread, interesting reading, and some of those pics, well done lads, your a credit to the dog, hunting and countryside world. Keith, what neck you from, I could give you a bit of ratting but guess distance would ruin it. Been threatening to get another ratter, not had one for 6 yrs now, damn I miss it.
  24. Mine was 21 cubic meters! So at that price £2100! I paid two builders with an electric cement mixer £800!That's not right somewhere, 21 cubic metres of c20 general purpose concrete would need 6720 kg's of cement, that's 269 25kg bags, at my rock bottom buy in bulk price that's £873.60p alone ! Either the calculations were out or all the gear was nicked !Are you sure you mean 21 cubic metres, or 21 square metres ? 21 cubic metres is a big slab, approx 14 metres by 10 metres at 150mm thick or 46 foot x 32 foot For the record, 21 cubic metres of c20 would need 6720kg's cement 13250 kg's
