  1. It's nowt like any field shroom I have found before, the cap feels very leathery/rubber like, yet reading through my fungus book I can't even ID it as a poisonous variety (which I am fairly sure it's not an edible one).
  2. I found this today in one of the fields, must have bee 30-40 in a small patch, but can't find an id on them in my mushroom books, so wondering if any of you knowledgable lot know what it is, to be honest I don't much like the look of it, and fairly sure it's not an edible one, the cap feels very leathery if that helps .
  3. Cracking bit of meat, unfortunately I don't get them anymore, used to love them.
  4. Did you do all the butchery yourself or send them off ? I got a small paddock about an acre I been thinking of putting a couple in next year.
  5. Luvley jubley, exactly what I am planning on doing next.
  6. You can still fish for them, but it has to be catch and release, so if you are mainly targeting other species I see no problem, just if you get a bass as a by catch it is supposed to go back !
  7. X2, I can't add anything to this post, excellent advice, all I will say is welcome.
  8. "but not one of you can say honestly they were NOT worrying sheep, cos you were not there" I was & they weren't, they were just running through the land on scent, we went over on the quads to "get them back" to the huntsman has he was on foot. Having said that your 1st point is taken as valid hence why it is now in solicitors hands That good to hear, if you saw it happen, and they were not amongst sheep, then you done the right thing getting solicitors involved l, I am no fan of shooting dogs (as some on here may think I am, or a bullshitting c**t) and if he was shooting them for n
  9. Or do a search on here and find similar posts.
  10. You can buy it in the states and have it shipped here
  11. I believe that from July 1st the bag limit is one fish.
  12. Half of you lot should be disgusted with yourselves, talking about going back at night and burning sheds down, killing sheep, what sort of numpties are you, you are the reason a lot of farmers don't want you on the land in the first place, I love dogs, and hate to hear of them been shot, but not one of you can say honestly they were NOT worrying sheep, cos you were not there !
  13. Yeah I must admit they eat bloody lovely, it's just the keeping them part I am concerned about.
  14. Has anyone kept them before for meat ? My mrs has decided she loves the taste of them, and I know a man who imports some from France, (supposedly meat birds). I kept a few years ago and remember they were darned noisy things !
  15. Gutted ASAP, never leave them with guts in overnight, sometimes skin the same day, mostly get left till next day, or not at all as lots of our buyers want them in the fur.
  16. Welcome bud, am just the other side of town from you, some good lads on here.
  17. I find too much wheat makes them pile on fat under the skin, so I mix it with some barley, and pellets, either growers or finishers, they also get kibbled maize, but mostly they are free range and anything they find is on the menu, plenty of grass. I also like my birds to have a stress free end, I don't do anything fancy, just go in and pick them as I am ready for them, I try not to do too many in one day or it becomes a chore

Spoke to my dairy farmer mates and they don't keep it, and the only one I know who uses it in pigs has it premixed in the food as and when needed
  19. Never had a problem with ducks, geese are a different story though
  20. What is the plated weight and size please, where in Suffolk are you, and can you email me the pics of it please. Rob.
  21. Doesn't seem to be a problem on our shoots, but I would guess that will depend on acreage more than anything. We had one covey that started as 7 birds, and is almost thirty now so they obviously can get on
  22. Yes, it just keeps the feather and dust down, no actual help to the plucking at all
