  3. Nice old photo Gem, i've seen it plenty of times. Good to know that George Armstrong was a hound man, these days he's portrayed as more of a pompous ass, though our American friends on here should tell us more. Though i'd bet many a military man on a campaign took along whatever sporting dog or chook they fancied. The British certainly did and in the 18th century and throughout history we ran and fought our gear on just about every critter that walked. Custer would of had a ball over them great plains with those dogs, much like Dan, Doc, Stunts an co. do now!!! I certainly don't think th
  4. Ta for that Tim... Dead right though..!!! The dog is still here, from my first post, pm for further info....
  5. Damn shame Paid... Best of luck for the future..
  6. Through the 70's I grew up in a street where front doors were always open. The streets were full of kids playing, no need to lock anything, most houses had fitted a door in the lobby to keep the chill out in winter but that was it. If folk went to the shops others would keep an eye out. It all changed in the 's, the coming of heroin and burglaries started, i remember it starting, 3 or 4 houses in a street in a day, from then on doors were locked.
  7. Gareth, personally, I never trust photo's, they never tell the right story, sometimes they help but mostly hinder. Oh yer, that dog looks a fine animal..
  8. Always liked 'ol Larry, seemed the type to call a spade a spade when interviewed. From 'I dream of Genie' to Dallas. Iconic as JR. He was also a very good friend of Keith Moon, one of the few that stuck by him as things got 'very strange' and helped Moonie out on more than one occasion.
  9. Patrick Duffy, him from Dallas, loved this series as a kid.
  10. Is this the bro.in law who wants the dog off me...?
  11. I've never got the hang of those Tenterfields, nor seen or know anyone that has used 'em to any degree above poor. There is one little gem that is on the market, I got one and have been more than impressed with the results.... The new FoxMaster call, I'd rate it as possibly the best electronic call out there now. I'm going to put a review up shortly on it on here about it because I do really rate it. Keep an eye out.
  12. Gardiola always takes on short term (12 month) contracts, Chelsea will suit him right down to the ground. As for Chelsea winning anything, well until they stop their delusion that they didn't have to replace Drogba because Torres is still a top draw striker....
  13. Short term, if you ask me, Benitez is still deluded enough to think he's still got a crack at returning to Anfield, he's still got his Caldy house, he's never bothered with any other club but a 6/7 month stint with Chelsea pay will keep him ticking over until he gets the Anfield call... Gardiola's in waiting in the wings, he's in no rush, bit of down time but i'll bet by the summer he's in.
  14. I should have gone to Speck savers....
  15. BREAKING NEWS.... Chelsea sack Rafa Benitez and give 3 million compensation after failure to win anything this morning...!!!
  16. Then the time has come Billy, a calm and relaxed mode, good field, plenty of easy seen bunnys, just you concentrating on your pup and all should go well...
  17. Joe, if you like her and want to keep her then go for it, put a bit of time in, get her right. Softly softly is the key with a nervy dog, lord only knows what she's been through before being tied to your gate and no matter what happens it will be a cracking challenge and learning experience for you both. That deafness could simply be 'total nerves' and she's oblivious to you as shes terrified of her surroundings... Get her right and give her a purpose and you never know....
  18. Billy IMO the old chestnut of one dog learning off another only works in certain situations (I'm not the biggest fan of it) and on your own, with a fired up old boy, ain't one of 'em!
  19. I work mine both ways on the lamp, the thing is, only off slip in certain spots and situations, as I'd agree with whats been said. Off slip is when only on my own too and i wouldn't dream of it when walking two dogs (to be honest I have hardly ever taken two dogs lamping on my own, it's a fecking pain to me!).
  20. A cracker and a shocker, very under rated IMO.
  21. If she's young and keen a 'war dance' with bunny or an extra swoop round a field 'just to make sure' is what she's trying to do. It usually settles down, with good specks holding plenty of rabbits on a regular basis.
  22. Many crosses love a yap but a hound cross is probably more inclined than any... That's the reason I'd never own one. If it was me, I'd try to run the bollox off it on the easiest bunnys I could find and i'm talking plentiful, not difficult. Short sharp slips being the key. If it's running an catching almost none stop 'maybe' it's mind will concentrate on the job.
  23. Memphis Bell was ok Tomo, liked that one too. Sands of Iwo Jima. (Had to get a bit of John Wayne in there..) From Here To Eternity Donovan's Reef.(not directly a war film but The Duke.. ) Mash The Great Escape Full Metal Jacket Black Hawk Down Jarhead, (thought this was very very good, could watch it over an over.) To name but a few, apart from the classics though Jarhead was bloody good..
