  1. Can't dissagree with that. There's f**k all you can do or should do but 'adapt'.
  2. No different to anyone else's posts for me... Simple truth of the matter is that it goes with the territory.. Some specks are just red hot, both with hunters and those out to stop 'em. It certainly ain't worth a toss trying to do anything about it, fool if you do... Just box a bit more clever, be a 'better' hunter/poacher, beat 'em all at their own game and reap the rewards of that...
  3. So the hunt is on, it's a new pup for me this year..!

Plenty of crap bred in liverpool to choose from lol.

  4. All my dogs are predominantly lamp dogs, depending on where we are is dependent as to whether I work off or on slip... I like working a dog 'off', sommat 'right' about it BUT it has many dangers and problems and the first sniff of doubt, they are on... Safe, rather than sorry....
  5. Half way up a mountain in Wales, miles from any decent river, two old fly fishing rods up against a tree by a big old earth, strange but feck it, we's here for other stuff! Dog in one hole and we's on. Went to check out another hole down the bank and peering in the end of a blue plastic tackle box is in view about 4 foot in. Gets it out to find it's full of pound coins, 700 to be exact... Never dug to a dog as fecking fast...!!
  6. Dunno Freddie, depending on where he's from? The Macky I know, is as good a caller as you'll get and mostly call's for others dogs... Drop him a pm, he might be the same...?
  7. There are many, try a Google search to start...
  8. JT, I'll speak to him, as when I last put a post up about 'em, they were just coming out an maybe he couldn't fulfill orders for too many? Since then I said i'll put a review up (which I still ain't done ) on 'em an he was well pleased so maybe all's good now... leave it with me...
  9. I've had a couple of pair of Merrells, though not walking boots, gotta say quality stuff, with one pair on their 7th heavy use wear....
  10. Drop a pm to Macky off here. He has a new caller out, pisses all over anything thats gone before, especially for the price... It's 'that' good...!!
  11. If the dog is in good nick health wise and if you have to feed complete, then get a good 'un and soak the biscuits. Remember compete is never really complete and i'd always add extra protein and veg a few times a week. The old greyhound men will always advise to keep food sloppy, to keep weight and energy levels up. BARF is always best mind but it can be difficult for some to feed. One other thing, when Lurchers are expected to put a hard shift in drinks with electrolite in during and after are always advised. Can't see it being any different for any hard working dog.

    Pensioners

I once read a quote from an old school Terrierman, stuck with me ever since... Look after the young, look after the old and let the other buggers look after themselves...!!!
  13. Sick of drying towels after each walk, I'm pissed off, dogs pissed off... Village is accessible only from one end, river is about 4 foot off the top of the flood defense and still rising, it's gone before at that height... Thank feck Christmas is wrapped up in this house, I wouldn't fancy being one of those traipsing round shops today...
  14. Seen the dog in the flesh a few times, never seen it run the big lands (only on film), heard much, all was good...
  15. Got a few solid bronze and bronze resin hares. The solid ones I got from the CUP many years ago. The best of 'em tho came from John & Lynne Bickley of Norfolk. Cracking studies of lurchers and terriers in the field. I also got these at the CUP, the Bickley's were there for a number of years through the 90's and each year I would save for another, very glad I did...!
  16. Sad 'ol feck that I am, I love old tales of folklaw, nice one Joe...
  17. Nice one Tomo... As folk have said, 'a time and a place'... Good pic and a good post to put up...
  18. David Brian Plummer... No more controversial name comes up in the hunting world... I won't lie, as a youngster I loved his books but by the time I read my first I had been ratting on the local tip, amongst other stuff, for a few years and it all seemed a bit romanced to me. Never the less I read keen as mustard whenever I got a book, spending many a wet afternoon in the local library trawling through. Back in the late 70's an early 's lurcher & terrier info for an Anfield kid was hard to find and to me, the Exchange & Mart was bought as keenly as that weeks good single! Never spoke
  19. Like some of the others on here, I never met the man but his name and deeds have come up many times over the years and never a bad word, very sad, RIP Don.
  20. As soon as my dog hears the filter coming off he wants to go wether he's attached to me or not Mine too...
  21. Tote is spot on. It has happened to pups I have had in the past. Look at the diet your pup is on, with dried food, if the protein level is high, first off, reduce that. Also, when it happens prevent to much movement on the legs. I used a cage. As soon as the food was changed I seen a difference in my pup BUT I made sure that free running and exercise was kept to short bursts with plenty of rest for a few weeks.
  22. The deer out the trailer for the run past, can't go anywhere, fenced off, he's off... Grabs the fecker an wrestles it back for the camera... Maybe but one things for certain.. He's a tit!
