  1. Now thats a stamp of coursing dog I really like.... Very nice
  2. worth more to keep ---- get em on the wall nice mounts and frames ... I have them from the mid 80's right through. I've always fancied framing a few and getting them up. Nice thred to remind me...
  3. I betcha carp all over the country are now shitting themselves because someone other than Hugh Fernley Whittingstall considers them edible. Personally, I don't give a stuff for all that crap the carp fishermen do, fish being preened and de-loused, then kissed before the obligatory photo and lovingly put back. If yer can catch it and yer wanna eat it, be my guest... Them big, over stuffed monsters have been living a charmed existence for far too long!
  4. The other weekend I bought a book about old Liverpool, the book is called Greetings From Olde Liverpool, published in 1992 and contains old postcard images of the city, as I'm fascinated by all things old Liverpool and districts. There is one postcard looking up Bold St in 1895 showing the Lyceum. I quote, 'The spot the picture was taken from was/is Waterloo Square, which was named after the Waterloo Hotel which once stood where Central Station once was. The Waterloo Cup got it's name from this Hotel.' I have no idea if this is true or not but did find it interesting that the Cup was m
  5. I'm rarely sober And I'm sure Mal could find someone better looking (and woolier) than me to pick him up Come on Matt, lets go have a Babysham together...
  6. An old boy I once knew (he's long dead now) always said the best lurchers are produced when the greyhound is the sire... I honestly don't know if this is true but he really did know his onions, it's what I would do...
  7. The world is full of daft tw@ts.... Few of 'em found on that little montage for sure. Them bow hunting Beaut's, stood in open ground and fire on the pig from 5 yards... Get in!!
  8. Great clip Cleanspade . That collie cur lurcher wasn't for letting go of that lure in the beginning. Though one of those terriers looked more Fox Terrier that anything else and from 1954 it wouldn't have been as bastardised in the head as it is now.
  9. Gotta say i'm with Sandy too, nowt wrong with a bit of sloppy weetabix and milk for a easy to hand puppies first go. Not like its gonna be their staple is it... All this cancer bollox with certain foods too... Feck off, how long does that take to manifest, how old is the dog gonna be.... Your far more likely to kill a dog working it than feeding it a crappy cereal diet...! Perspective.... Long ago I had my first lurcher, couldn't live in our little house so my aged Great Aunt kept it four doors down. She was born at the turn of the last century, no dog food way back then, so very little to m
  10. Yer, if it's any quicker for ya RH, turf over the seed. Just keep that turf well watered daily and keep off it for about 3 weeks. Turf is better laid in Spring and Autumn, when its wetter, so keep fecking watering. It's starting to take shape, well done, keep at it.
  11. So... Is there anyone on here from Ashbourn, or knows anyone that keeps terriers in that town, that may know of a lad that's recently got his old dog back out of kennels....?? If I was you Digdeeper, i'd start a thred entitled ' Anyone From Ashbourn?' and ask the question above. I'd also go back to the wardens with your any email evidence/proof you can get and see if they are more forthcoming with where the dog went.
  12. Oasis.... Don't believe the hype
  13. Like that black mutt with the white chest... How's it bred?
  14. And here lies the problem... If you need to breed out of a dog so much that you must loan a bitch, how bad is this country's lurcher scene? Surely without having to persuade someone to part with their top notch bitch (it must be if you want to use it so bad!) for a litter, then put yourself through the process of ensuring everything works out, combined with the worry if it don't, is a step to far..? Feck all that... I'd rather see it all go to the wall before I went down that road... And that problem is.... More value should be placed in the bitch, because without her your gonna have to go th
  15. Ground elder is a fecker Stig, when I moved in here 5 years back, this garden was overgrown to feck and choc full of ground elder. I simply used Roundup where I could BUT you can't spray it around plants you want to keep or it'll do the lot in. the old boy down the road said simply pour the Roundup in a tin can and using a soft inch brush, paint the leaves...! I thought feck that it'll take ages but it never, it was fast enough as your only doing it round plants you want to keep. Works a treat! Keep the tin and brush out the way and use it when ness! Cracking garden by the way, love that loo
  16. Just took this one of my top beds today. That first rectangle is about the same size as those two beds of yours RH. I like that big show, cottage garden look, and there is little to do except cut it back after flower. The coverage even prevents weeds! Apart from the Lupins, which were around £2 each the other year as a quick fix, everything else was either gifted, split or cuttings off someone else. In short, that top bit has cost me about a tenner! Just need more height at the back this year to hide that fence.
  17. 10 mins!! Fook. You see thoze two little rectangles on first pic... between concrete paths. Well thatl take me ten mins to dig & rake... You make it sound so easy bosun It is easy RH, a damn sight easier than most folk think. So what if it takes a little longer! Start with them two beds, you'll have 'em tidy in no time and move through the rest. Work at your own pace, keep it all simple. You'll be dead proud of it as it grows, honest.. . Get a photo on of yours then MONTY Two from last year on mate, look back...
  18. Cleared the snow, dug a big hole, put it all in and cover it all up again. Be June before the snow clears and then it's back again in July, happy days!
  19. Those small wiry bitches John Park used to breed were just the ticket.
