    Great stuff, love to see dogs that are good strong swimmers and love water, fantastic conditioning as well as good fun. Just mind that where you swim 'em is relatively weed free, cause you is gonna have to get yourself wet if your mutt is tangled and that could end up dangerous for both of you.

    Personally Johnny, I think London is a fantastic place. History, places, people, it's got the lot. If it were me, i'd really do my homework on what you both would like to see and visit and then make every effort to do it. At 16 she's growing up fast so make the trip to the capital a real visit to remember for both of you.

    I'm always disappointed when good posting members get a ban, I'm even more disappointed when they request a ban. I've had those pm's, "no mate, I've had enough on here, just ban me" type stuff and after trying to talk 'em round, i've pushed the button.... Hey presto, two weeks later, or sommat like that, they are back.... And the point was..???? Nah, for me it's dead simple... If your on here, enjoy your time, contribute well. If you don't want to be on here, simply don't log on and spare folk the long drawn out bullshit about leaving....!

    It 'may' be that you were in a different body position and were much less' intense' about it. Dogs sense this and can act accordingly. I got a few good lines and tips of wisdom from Plummer books back in the day, though i can also be his biggest critic but one I remember, is that 'retrieving training MUST always be a game'. I took that as good advice and it's proved itself so to me for the past 30 years, now you know it, see if it does the same?

    Mik is bang on the money here, I couldn't post better than that... As for magazines IMO, they ALL harbor Peddlers and then Peddle the Peddlers themselves! It's only that some are open about it and others disguise it with cleaver editing.... In this world, above the parapet, the game is fecked BUT thankfully there are those below who really work, breed and gift dogs and, for real workers, long may that continue....

    Plank Lane Ferreting eh.... I know Plank Lane, so it's a youtube must watch...! That Poacher Gamekeeper documentary, I thought the bloke who was the poacher was from Cheshire, he used to be at the Cup every year? And Lone Furrow and Hunting Man too, great stuff.

    Still got this book from many many years ago and watched the film. I had the book but lent it out one too many times... I can still vaguely remember the fox bolting scene near the beginning of the series. How times were different on tv back then... Darbo do you remember that documentary in maybe 1980 about the gamekeeper and the poacher, think it was done for Granada tv. And there was a kids series called Kizzy, about a young half bred traveler girl, that series had a few lurchers around the camp.
