  1. Aye, suppose when it's like that it would give you a start and yes, best to simply shrug your shoulders and leave it there. Never let it eat at you, that sort of stuff ruins lives.
  2. Bull V's Collie stuff.... Oh fecking spare me.... Russ, you own and work a 'Lurcher' and there is gonna be a new addition in the shape of a working Border Collie about the house, don't even bother asking the question, just get the cur out and see what it can do. Just remember, it ain't no Lurcher. Have no expectations, just a bit of fun and ya never know, it may surprise you...
  3. No, never been a victim of road rage, never received it nor dealt it and I'm thankful for that, because i simply wouldn't tolerate it, no matter what the circumstance.
  4. We are talking about the first book JB did not the fell terrier.....doh, Oh, ok. Though how were those names you put up meant to do that... Through Ojigi board...
  5. Them 'orrible slab sided freaks have been around for decades. We always talk about the KC Bulldog when discussing genetic show madness but these poor excuses are, IMO, equally as sad. Imagine running that pathetic effort in the picture alongside its racing cousin.... We should never forget that form should always follow function. Let the freaks breed their freak dogs, as D&N said, it don't affect us...
  6. I once read a book similar to yours, bout a Welsh bloke who lamped a whole load of foxes as they came to feed on a farm midden pile. Nailed 3 or 4 most night's, so the book said. In the snow too. The action must have been fast and furious as he was rarely photographed wearing a coat. Though it must have been cold, them foxes looked stiff as boards. All done with a 'ol mottled marked cur cross. If I could just remember that books title....
  7. My Dad did National Service, stayed on for another two years, Boxed for the Army too. He always said to us as kids that he'd fight tooth and nail to stop it ever happening again....
  8. Just for the record Frank Buck did give interviews... Or why else would he have been in Fell Terrier... Anyways, books is books.... Bottom line is this.... Someone has put the time and effort into putting pen to paper, it don't matter what the goal was in doing it BUT each and every man who has, from Frein to Broadhurst, Harcolme, Plummer, Lloydy, Darcy and Fairclough even Bluck....! ALL OF THEM HAVE WRITTEN A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY, right there, for you, me and generations to come. You don't have to buy the book, not right now, maybe not ever BUT a little piece of hunting
  9. Maybe Bluck's in the new book...
  10. I was in the same position last year REW but I got my pup and have spent a happy 12 months bringing it on. Not once have I thought I missed out, just simply had a bit farther to look forward to, so to speak. That is all well and good IF you know of the right pup, if not, buy in, there are loads of dogs out there that could suit you or anyone else BUT you must be honest about it and your situation, I know I wouldn't saddle myself with sommat that didn't cut the mustard with me....

    Food.

I am a real 'foody' and love all sorts of good food. Decent cook too and will try (eat) just about anything. Got a real dislike of cheap processed food and a real lean toward good seafood but all good food's good! But for all that, I really enjoy putting together and devouring a bloody good sandwich, especially for myself, by myself, nothing beats that....
  12. For the digging game.... Them army gortex kecks and jackets are good enough and cheap for the wet and mud on the outside. Though under the kecks i'd use a pair of workwear type, with the knee pads. On top I'd use the Paramo reversible Trail Shirt. Super comfy, warm or cool it works and the best bit is, it really does wick away sweat, leaving you dry and warm no matter how long the day. As for footwear, you won't better Fell Boots. Though if it's wellies you also want, them Dunlop Purofort steel toe and undersole jobbies are fantastic. You wouldn't believe how tough yet comfy th
  13. Last three narrated... A River Runs Through It..... Fantastic!

    Appleby

Wilf your dead right in your post. I, like Phil, know some of the old families and I know that Appleby Horse Fair, when spoken about, is only fondly remembered, long in the past..
  15. City Of God.... Also narrated and possibly the best film I've seen in years.
  16. Funny ain't it but Shawshank and a couple of others that have been mentioned are narrated... Some of the best films are. Narration lends its self to a good story in film, draws you in and makes the difference.
  17. Biggest I've seen was a bull x owned by the Goulding brothers think it was called Jack it must have scaled near on100lbs.Ran very impressively as I recall..Bigliks would remember it.Is it the same Jack bosun has mentioned? That's the dog I'm talking about, there is a photo on here somewhere.
  18. Dunno about the smallest but the biggest i've ever seen were bred by a local bloke who put a dog called Warlock over a Deerhound. The smallest in the litter was over "30 and all of 'em had substance aplenty... In short, massive! One was put back to a coursing dog and produced a dog called Jack that at over "30 distinguished its self in most major coursing competitions of the day and was certainly always the talking point...
  19. Nice shoot'n Tex... Baz, I don't think this section is dying, I firmly believe that it really can go from strength to strength BUT 'you pult boys' have got to make it so.... You know how it works. It's in your hands. Make the forum and the season tie in. What to shoot when and when to down tools and start to talk all about forks, bands and the gear you use, if you get my drift... Almost moderate yourselves, its your section, you can make it what you want and, from a Mod perspective, we simply weed out anything detrimental or illegal. That's all we want to do anyway. I hope it all
  20. Dame shame we can't find out more about this dog, it's done (doing) very well and to get the best out of reproducing it, it'd be good to know what went into it....
