  1. I knew Paul, as for the book, Finnes has certainly written it from an anti's perspective.... Edited to add, for anyone reading this who does not know, the book is not about the man, it is a semi-fictional novel written by Finnes and Blackledge is mentioned in it.
  2. Pye was one of those rarities that, when lines were tight, threw dogs both as good, if not better, in shape and attitude. i saw another pic of him fine looking animal Was it this one?

  4. Don't know what age he lost his tail, fairly young I think. He had a name as a worker from the off, for those who knew the dog but his name grew with his offspring and then, as of so many dogs, became a 'legend' ( ) on internet forums. That picture must be over 20 years old, I put it up only for the fact that as a 'genuine' he was/is the best example of type i've ever seen. Do you mean he looks 50/50 ? Sort of Jeemes, is it really cut and dried at 50/50, I know thats what in theory you should aim for but I honestly think there are first crosses that seem to make sommat better?
  5. I never knew of a tape measure that went near him mate but i'd throw a good guess at 26".

  7. looks a good un does it have a docked tail ? Car door accident...
  8. Macky would be the one to ask mate. I had one out of Dee to a big deerhound cross, stood around 29" and could kill just about everything. Dozy bugger coming back after a run though, not to good in hot spots, was a liability at that time and so we parted company.
  9. Me Mam worked as a school dinner lady for years and my dogs looked bloody good on it... As for a good complete, the best i've found is the stuff that Lidl sells, called Orlando and though I do use mince about 4/5 days a week, it's the nearest to feeding barf i've ever found...
  10. Yep, the weather should be ok for tomorrow, see you all there...
  11. A mate of mine in Wigan had a Lurcher x Borzoi years ago. Big rangy thing with that down face that Borzoi's have. It could catch and kill anything BUT was thick as f**k and a liability around stock.
  12. Although a complete ball-ache for you, it really was a bloody good read for me (and I'd bet plenty more). Maybe your problem lies in the place you live, not rural enough to understand why people shoot and not urban enough to live under the gun and give a shit. You must live in that 'new money' business belt, that spend so much time trying to better themselves, they loose any sense of reason or understanding, apart from stocks and shares and BMW's.... We are ALL in danger of them Colin's..!!
  13. It's dead simple for me, the older i get, the more I enjoy a good summer and this one has been just that....
  14. Not according to William Blake it wasn't. LOL. The poem is about England, Jerusalem being a metaphor for heaven. I know that all to well and, it's a 'nice' poem but each and every time I hear the name Jerusalem in it, it removes me from 'my England' and simply smacks of a war torn shithole, that has killed as many people as the great wars and never looks worth a drop of blood being spilled for it...! Nah, heaven for me it ain't..!!!! It also seems like we are being force fed it, like someone wants to sway a vote and that too sticks in my crop!
  15. Jerusalem.... That's in the middle east FFS......Feck all that arty farty crap, this is another that would do it for me....
  16. Big Thanks to Bobkizzyhugo for two cracking kits.

  18. Mike McCready, the guitarist from the band Pearl Jam has it and i think he may keep a blog on his experiences too.
  19. This year I ain't seen an ad under £10 on the trade sites and some have reached up to £40, for these 'micro' ferrets and i'll bet others will find much higher! Thankfully, there are still those who know the value of a good working home.
  20. If you fight for the title, to be the very best, then the money will always follow.... If you fight for the money, nothing else, then you will never be the best....
