Yorkshires answer to chubby brown with the exception that hes quite funny at times , where chubby brown is a repetative dickhead about as funny as dysentery. Not the taste for southern stockbroker types, far to sexist.

Great little film reminded me of brendan chase, denys watkins pritchard, BB was his pen name wonder if its any relative of his that produced the film reminded me of my early years. Mind you i had a better catapult, that looks more like the forked sticks we caught grass snakes with.

Good band my god Grace Slick was one hot hippy. -
Following the post on the lab grey, and the potential interest in breeding off some members dogs, why not set up a stud register for the members of this site that are planning future litters. Dont know if this has been suggested before, but at least you would know you were breeding from working dogs.

Eagle v fox what they did not point out was eagles regularly take foxes, a fox is generally not stupid enough to risk an injury that long term could prove fatal.

Last few years ive ran across loads of people walking lurchers, and meeting them ive been asked the same questions about my dogs, is yours a rescue dog where did you get it from ect, when i ask do you work your dog i get what do you mean flyball or agility. When i say do yours do pest control eg rabbiting rats ect, the look of horror on some faces. What the hell do they think lurchers were bred for, seems there becoming a bit of a fashion item. Now id rather see a dog go to a good non working home, than to a bad working home. But the lurcher belongs to the renegades and poachers of this world

Bedlington/greyhound X Collie Whippet Greyhound
keepitcovert replied to poxon's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I run a beddy grey x collie grey, was bred with these attributes in mind, beddy for the nose, and collie for the intelligence, was easier to train than the beddy whippet i owned. Shes 8 years old now and has been a cracking dog 23tts. good on the lamp, but comes into her own when mooching or ferreting, if she marks you can bet your life shes got it right. Certainly a cross i would reccomend, you very rarely see one for sale though.YIS KIC. -
Josey wales is good, a man called horse is worth watching.

Same here classic album, not a single bad track on it ,cant say that about too many albums, spiders were from my home town Hull, Shame the big C.has claimed 3 of the band now. Love to hear Mick Ronsons guitar riffs on hang on to yourself, and on queen bitch [hunky dory] yeh bowie was a one off.
-
Major influence on the music scene preffered the early stuff, compared to the talentless dirge we get thrown at us , courtesy of cowell and co, he will be sadly missed. RIP. BOWIE.

Local will have the once a year regulars in, so really cant be arsed, trying to keep my dog calm when the fireworks start. Any way happy new year to you all, hope you have an injury free rest of season. YIS KIC.

Used to hunt with the hunsley beacon beagles . Dave evans was the huntsman, had invites to the colne valley but never got there, work commitments, Great sport watching those hounds, hard to believe some people on this site think a beagle could not catch a hare

Brother in law went to see him and said he pulled a trick off in front of him that defied explanation, now i have always been sceptical of magicians or illusionists but watching the guy on tv, very clever at his trade, or the son of the devil, some of his stunts are quiet spooky. Any of you guys seen him first hand or know him.

One of my dogs is 10 years old and is still nailing the bunnies. pulls fur out of those that bite back, let the dog tell you when it wants to retire, A working dog gets a better deal than any handbag or household pooch. As for being in its prime mine have varied smaller whippety types can hit the mark in their second season, larger dogs take longer. If you have had the dog from a pup and it has served you well then give it the loyalty that it has given you and let it enjoy its retirement .its a small price to pay.

Still got my old solway zipper bought in 1985 and still going strong, the modern barbours are more of a fashion item, than the old barbours which were made for work.
