  1. think the last line of you statement is very possibly true, hence the massive growth in Bull X,s when I first had dogs in the late 80's early 90's collies were the number one cross, with the odd deerhound or saluki X if hares were your thing, and bedlington whippets for rabbiting and ferret work, you need to build a relationship with a collie X, were as you can swap a bull X for your pigeon loft on Friday and have it out working on Monday, then swap it for an mx5 a month later, it's all part of the instant gratification life style that seems the norm nowadays, I have a stunning collie X that w
  2. Thats a poor looking Deerhoundy bitch, short coupled, short necked, narrow fronted and weak skulled, the dog looks a tad wider between the ears but is slender jawed and as weak looking as the bitch.A very poor representation of a Deerhoundy. haha, bit harsh morton.short coupled and short neck could be solved by showing it something and they'll stand better.other crtisism's can see your point.look at the back foot on the bitch. Deerhoundys where noted for their strength, long back, long powerfull neck and a jaw suited to their frame, wide and powerful stance and an invincible aura,i didn,t ge
  3. I still have an inane curiosity for any critter that does not fit the norm, ive often released unusual catches and even re-introduced coloured Bunny,s to safer ground,i once carried a blue rabbit about 6 miles to a place of safety,i carefully released it into its new Nirvana and my mucker slipped is gin trapped jawed jukel on it,then rolled about in hysterics, twat.Id have released the fox,the mutts often negate our curiosity.
  4. Both of you always seem to do,again im in awe.

Not always, this is a site for open debate and discussion.Nearly all the posts on this thread enthused about the pups. Many know im a massive fan of Deerhoundy lurchers and id not wish prospective Deerhoundy lurcher owners to be influenced by poor specimens, which many are.Looking at these two it would be easy to believe t

  7. The last time i went to see the doctor he thought i was anorexic, until the nosey bloody nurse told me to put both feet on the scales.
  8. No,now its late bedtime,school tomorrow.
  9. My idea of a snack is 3 steak and kidney pies,a family pack of Walkers cheese and onion crisps,2 mars bars a massive dent in a 20 pack of Carling and an 1/2 lb cheeseburger and chips.Jelly babies are for starving Africans.
  10. The majority of working terrier lads utilise the terriers tail to lift, move or secure a terrier,if you can reach the tail of a terrier in a dig id not be rummaging around for a better hold, using the tail as leverage to secure a better hold is standard practice, using force on a tail and id concur with you Mary.
  11. My missus and daughter treat the mutts like their kids, talk to them like kids, feed them like children, off a fecking spoon with 1 fussy eater and dress them up in winter. They know to leave most of mine alone, notice i said most.I despair with the attention they lavish on the dogs, the old Beddy bitch that served me well for over 9 years loves her new found lifestyle and ill not begrudge her that, yet she,s a bloody dog.
  12. Most on here can't do what they want in hunting due to people who's work starts with P...... You be far better off if you treat everybody thats not related to you, or very well known to you as a copper, especially on the net, but there again, my ole granny used to say, if they really need tellin, they not worth telling I used to hunt with terriers with a copper,my sons a copper,i still hunt, another son hunts like i used to and 1 of the coppers should keep better company.Id trust him more than id trust most with what he knows and we get up to.An awful lot of plod pursue an hunting lifest
  13. I know which author went to the trouble of lugging more than a pen about, some useful artificial earths around Leeds.
  14. Thats a sad reflection of the times we live in now and how difficult it is to find honest homes for working pups bred. Its a lottery whatever home the pup ends up in and there is more chance the pup will fare better in a pet home. Some poor pet homes about, far more poor working ones.. Spot on pal glad you can see where I'm coming from, I've tried the hunting life law gifting pups to mates, only to be shat on and not appreciated so there will be no more free pups or stud fees in the future. I no exactly where you are coming from,if i breed a litter its to replace part of the team and hopefully

  16. That has crossed my mind Ken but i do fancy a mixed breed, especially spaniel blood and see what i can get out of it. If you want your busher to work in close i would forget a beddy in my experience of them they range a lot and hunt a line fields ahead, stick with spaniel or spaniel cross Thats more to do with poor education than breeding, its easy to blame the average mutt for the average owners lack of stewardship.Ive re-homed 1 Beddy because it was ignorant to command,it better suited a pet home,or a more determined hunting one.Once you,ve owned a GOOD bushing Beddy you will never be wi
  17. "you don,t sweat much for a fat lass" often did not work for me,when it did i regretted it when i woke up in the cold light of the dawn and sobriety.
  18. Far,far to young.Id rather see food left in a pups dish than an empty one.You need to balance food and exercise with weight gain, plenty of grub and exercise and gaining to much weight then id cut the grub allowance down until the pup fits your eye.
  19. The older i get the more i grow out of fashion,i was never one for accepted hunting attire,i did the wax coats and army slacks and all that nonsense.I like ski pants and an old smock type jacket,as soon as they turn up in Oxfam etc.I used to go ferreting with a couple of Asian lads i knew, passed them the odd live rabbit and watched them say a prayer whilst they slit Bugsy,s throat,it was the plastic shoes and suits they wore, not their colour, that set them apart from me and a mucker,we hunted and gave little thought to field fashion.Geez them lads shivered worse than a Whippet when cold and dam
  20. As the nearest thing to a Patterdale terrier is a Black and Tan Lakey, the ribbon chasers had more to do with Black terriers being called Patterdale than any working kennel,id be happy for the odd Black and tan to show up.Even some of the Middleton breeding still surfaces with a white bodied pup.
  21. There just the same as the fell dogs you get here in the lakes apart from you need to speak welsh to work them lol. I watched the Kate Humble programme and failed to get into the Welsh Collie romanticism, especially as the majority of them where basically Border bred and worked exactly as Borders graft in the Fells,Cumbria etc.Humble and co. failed to grasp the difference between trial and hill working collies, hill bred collies work the same,English,Welsh whatever.Borders are a type all over the Isles, the very small so called pure Welsh pool where all over the place in type, thus they are
  22. If you start to get excitable about percentages over what the breeding offers as a grafter then your priorities are a tad out of balance.5/8 3/8 is often a ploy to extract more cash out of an eager wallet.
