  1. Whats in the mix offers enough to suit many an hunting kennel, even with the Bull influence.
  2. If the feet are poor don,t breed from it.Id start my homework and source a litter that are suited to your hunting lifestyle.
  3. The vast majority of land owners ive encountered, whilst in the company of lurchers, were usually the angry sort, fact.Landowners have an habit of tarring us all the same and its taken me the majority of my hunting life to educate a few of them to the fact that the majority of lurcher owners despise the feckwits, with lurchers,as much as the farmers do,nearly. Its always 1 step forward and 3 back because of the actions of the mindless minority and no matter how hard some of us attempt to redress the balance there is always another feckwit to encourage the discrimination a few of us work against.Ive
  4. No need to apologise to me fella. You're a lucky man with the permission you've got but we aren't all that lucky. I wish I was but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Thats why I don't see every man who jumps the fence as a disrespectful thug or stock worrier like some on here are implying. Some of us are just out to work our dogs and do the best we can to do our thing and not upset anyone. But it doesnt always go to plan. if you want permission all you got to do is become a slaughterman and tell every farmer you meet that there lambs/cattle are the best you've ever seen.haha.permission gran

Ive more permission than i can hunt efficiently now,i started out with none and hunted that way for the majority of the time,i still use permission to haunt neighbourin
  7. If you hunt around Yorkshire and Cumbria its impossible not to encounter sheep, thus you cut your cloth accordingly.A mate had a dog shot from over 200 yds away from the rifle,it was under control and nearly at heel,Cow eye,as he was known, paid with a few severe beatings and still does not drink in Keighley.I find many young keepers with ego,s that was not taught by their elders, they keeper in a far less savoury way than their elders, their elders had more respect for the land and wildlife. Surely if the dog was near heel it would have been close to the bloke . Regardless of worrying stock nobod

  9. Id not hang my coat on the same door as the feckless minority with lurchers, they are the main reason Anti,s gain ammo and the Police interfere.I can say with pride that id never wish to be associated with many polluting our ranks. Just in the interest of me understanding the conversation on here . Do you have dogs you run? Not having a dog or anything Ive owned and hunted with lurchers and terriers since i was about 5,more seriously for the last 36 years. For the last few months ive been without a lurcher, apart from when i borrow my sons, the twat won,t give it back.I am seeking another

  11. Last time I heard of a farmer shooting a dog was a few years back, his gate came open in the night and livestock were everywhere. Loads got knocked down. Caused him carnage and no end of problems. Poor bugger. Would that have been another cowardly lurcher owner that used the darkness to hide behind,a shroud to cover for their lack of morals or ability to accept their blame. The farmers are not the problem here folk, most of the time, the problem is the feckwits that often find it quaintly amusing to muller some wool when nothing else is available for their mutts, the feckwit that gets upset beca
  12. Not many fox,s leave gates open,go around in a gang and carry a lamp.

  14. Its a sad reflection on the majority of lurcher owners that they do not have a clue on basic countryside knowledge and the laws of the land.Any dog out of control amidst stock should be shot and the owner banned from owning another,if you cannot educate your charge to be stock broken then you are certainly failing the dog and do not deserve to own one.Accidents happen and everybody is entitled to come unstuck at times, when accidents are frequent its time to buy an hamster and oil its wheel. If i owned a dog that chased or worried stock id not be looking to a farmer,or his agent,to sort the prob
  15. . ............ Some dogs don't last 5 seasons their heart wants it more than their body will allow and dogs like that with serious/keen Dogmen behind them don't always last and then you wish you,d have bred from them earlier !! thats not a good trait for a dog to have.is it.? My lad lost his mutt a couple of years ago, that dog had more heart, soul, brains and commitment than most, the fecking steel rod sticking out of the ground curtailed that mutts ambition,id own another with the same traits. i've had the same when a deerhound x jumped a fallen tree and got kebabed on a branch,2 mi
  16. I ve bred and kept half crosses , reverse 3/4 and 5/8 x 3/8 gaz and can honestly say the best all round dog I ve kept was very similar to your bitch. He was first cross dam back to a lurcher of mixed breeding with no bull in the sire. A lot of lads saw him day and night and he put a lot of stuff away. When I sadly retired him at 11 I went to the heavier type but none have held a candle to him as an all round dog.My next pup will be something similar to your bitch. Hope she turns out well Cheers Jake. Appreciate that. Her dam was bull/grey X collie/bull/grey and sire was half cross wheaten grey

  21. Pups some stride on it Mik,i like the attitude of the old lad looking on with disdain.
  22. You presume mucker, ive always been of the opinion the best grafted lurchers are often owned by the youngster, young, dumb and keen as owt,i wish i had my youthful enthusiasm and commitment back, saying that i wish i was far,far older and still had the same enthusiastic outlook and dogs that acquitted themselves better because of it.One older head and jukel is worth far more than presumption,i presume!.
  23. Don,t fall into the trap of taking a mutt to a vet at any opportunity, unless you,ve more brass than sense.Keep an eye on it,if it does not bother the dog and does not get any bigger id forget about it.
