Terriers were bred to be multi-purpose,all the time, all terriers were initially bred to serve more than 1,2,3 or even 5 purposes. Its modern terrierfolk and second rate terrier work that restricts a terriers work ethic.Kennel em,take em out on a leash and enter them, dig to em,extract em and put them back on a leash and back into the kennel.Terriers were bred to bush and fecking enter, its in the name. Now they are bred to shit in a kennel and be dug to,taken out to bush and scared to enter, earn a ribbon and sell a litter.I expect mine to bush to the same standards that they work below,i want them

I like Keswick, ive hauled a few terriers and lurchers around that vicinity over the years, its not the terrain id associate with Coursing bred stock.Beautiful landscape though.
-
The only thing that equates with terriers that refuse to enter, especially over 20 years,is a twat at the back of the nape, then source a terrier bred to enter that also bushes, always to a better standard,if a terrier is reluctant to enter its always as reluctant on top.
-
Maybe he breed the dogs for hunting abilty souly in mind and breed so they wouldnt go to ground.not every 1 thinks a digging terrier is the holy grail of hunting. Id not own another digging terrier,id not own 20 years of terrier breeding that refused to enter, would you?
-
If its a terrier it should fecking graft like a terrier, otherwise its a terrier that should never have been bred from.Id not own a terrier that did not bush and ratch about on top,id not breed from a terrier that was scared of dark places. The best bushing terriers enter, the worse terriers refuse.

Totally agree mucker, flour is the foundation of the best Gateau, yet the chocolate, cherries, cream and sugar is the Gateau and is responsible for its appeal, flour is flour,it aids the mix,it never responsible for the taste. -
Thats an understatement,well done N.

Id say % of lurchers are lurcher to lurcher bred, the grew influence is often useful, yet well diluted in the best of lurchers.Collie,Saluki,Deerhound,Whippet,Bull have more honest influence on lurcher production than any Grey ever did.Who breeds a litter of lurchers for what a Grey offers as a worker?. -
Im olde school and the engine off a chainsaw strimmer etc. with to much oil in the mix.My lad bought a rat attack smoker, easier to use and more reliable,i concur they are shite.

Deerhound Greyhound Or Bedlington Greyhound Stud

Ive yet to see a litter of pups bred out of a greyhound dam that could live with a litter bred from a proper lurcher dam.I find breeding from a Greyhound is the easy option all of the time. Why breed from a Greyhound Dam?,Why?.Name anything that a Greyhound Dam offers that a lurcher dam cannot offer 2,3 or 4 fold.If you wish to produce an even litter of saleable pups go with the easy option,if you wish to produce productive working progeny then shoot every mutt thats better equipped to track and less field work.Ill guarantee that there will be many a useful mutt out there Greyhound Dam bred,FAC -
Ive taken son,s,daughters and more recently grandsons out in the field. It educates them to a level above the average numpty kid about now. You only need to look through some of Tomo,s posts on here to understand that sapling is in good company, well done.

3 terriers + 20 years of breeding and none go to ground = piss poor terrier breeding.I do an awful lot of bushing with terriers and would not breed from a terrier thats scared of the dark, saying that a bushing terrier that refuses to enter would be a useful tool,3 of the same ?.

Greyhound is nearly 90% wastage and the most useful lurchers are best 25% Grew. -
Thats a poor looking Deerhoundy bitch, short coupled, short necked, narrow fronted and weak skulled, the dog looks a tad wider between the ears but is slender jawed and as weak looking as the bitch.A very poor representation of a Deerhoundy.haha, bit harsh morton.short coupled and short neck could be solved by showing it something and they'll stand better.other crtisism's can see your point.look at the back foot on the bitch.Deerhoundys where noted for their strength, long back, long powerfull neck and a jaw suited to their frame, wide and powerful stance and an invincible aura,i didn,t get any of tha

Id not breed from a Greyhound bitch to produce honest lurchers, false economy. Its better to breed from a lurcher and save all the wastage, fact. -

When dollar gets into working terrier breeding the working element comes second best to price. Its a known fact that many a terrier litter is sold at premium rate with Nuttal as the breeder, its also a known fact that Nuttal bought litters in to sell.Id have owned an early litter he bred,id run a marathon faster than a Kenyan to get away from his breeding now.
-
Fantastic post comrade,id not own a first or second bred Deerhound,YET i know that there are folks out there than do and will never own another jukel that is not heavily Deerhound influenced. The facts are that facts are fecking useless,at times. The major thing that would put me off a Deerhoundy lurcher is the name of Platt in its breeding, you mucker have put that to bed.
-
An awful lot of folk will look at the mutt and think luvverly,i look at the mutt and the terrain and think capable,i know that fecking mongrel was never bred to be luvverly.

A terrierman thats bothered about getting wet !!!,only joking mucker. -
That will be one lucky pup,all the best mucker.

I find the introduction of Grey improves most Deerhound breeding now, thats how much they have slipped away from their true heritage,KC feckwits and peddlers.Id rather own an half decent bull x than a poor Deerhoundy.I hope that soap does not linger when i scrub my mouth out.

Very smart,a couple of years ago i had a bunny giving the ferret the runaround in a pile of rocks with a Beddy interfering and the lurcher on mark,as i made the most of the weak winter sun, whilst spreadeagled on the most comfortable rock, a Wellington bomber flew lazily overhead.
