Bull x type lurchers have been ruined by nuggets wanting a dog with a certain character and the image it portrays.9 months old and your allready having doubts about the dogs lack of character and loss of cudos?.The same dog at 2 years of age may better portray the kind of character you wish for,id personally prefer a more quiet and laid back jukel,until the time arises,in the field,when it needs to show its mettle.

If we took the mutts to the vets every time a dog looks or acts iffy we,d be knacked,its knowing your mutt.If its slightly out of sorts id leave it a while longer,if its in distress and discomfort,then its a vet job.

Some dogs retrieve without training,some you can train and train to no avail,others see the art of retrieving as only for the field and their catches,get it out in the field,in a couple of months,let it thrash a few bunnys about and see how it gets on then,then get used to the yards yomping with a non retriever,if need be.Ive owned a couple of non retrievers,id own them again,mind you I was a tad lighter built and fitter,ive looked in the mirror,sell me your non retriever mucker.

I had two dogs of this breeding,litter mates,speed and wind to burn,i could,nt live with their aloof nature and lack of grit,when the going got hard,dirty,wet and cold,they did,nt.Id source a Collie based lurcher,imo,it will give you a better end result,easier to train,easier to enter,may not have the same pace,yet pace can be a liability in a lamper,at times.

You never need to walk far to find more suitable land,the majority of land, a dog suitably prepared,can handle,some land its just not worth the risk of injury for the sake of a couple of poxy runs,to me anyhows.The risk element is part and parcel of the hand dealt,its minimising the said risk,thus favouring the mutts welfare,that sorts the man with the jukel at heel from the man who,s left his recovering in the kennel.The flattest and most forgiving pasture can wreck a dog as quickly as a quarry floor.Its what your happy to see run again, perhaps,that will be the deciding factor for some of us

Feet are a running dogs most important attribute,i spend hours road walking the mutts so as to be sure their feet are sound.When a dog gets on a long gallop it may start on rich pasture and end up on scrubby boulder,heath or woodland,yet I make every effort to run the dogs on ground that's more suitable to less foot injury,if possible,unsuitable ground ill leave and let the shooters have.There,s ground to run a dog and ground to ruin a dog,why risk a dog when a gun,snare,ferret etc.can serve the same,or better purpose.At times the choice is taken away from us.

Beddy,s are the most versatile of terrier,they make excellent bushing companions and will thrive at the task in hand,sadly many see the art of bushing and ratching about as all a Beddy is fit for,the main reason for this is they are,because that's all they are bred from.A few Beddys are bred from sterner stock,they will also thrive in a bushing kennel plus make honest fox working terriers,hopefully yours is one of the latter,if it happens not to be,then work it to its potential and keep it away from breeding,happy Beddy hunting

Football is not the game it was,some fantastic matches though and a few more gems discovered that will command extortionate transfer fees,thus pushing up the price of entry and the need to cheat, to satisfy the board and money men that see clubs as collateral to line the shareholders pockets.Players are overpaid to get results that will attract sponsorship,football is secondary,get to a Rugby league match to see genuine sportsmen now.

What a day,i spent the day taking it all in,people from Holland,Germany,France and the US all congregating on sunny Keighley,the atmosphere and parties started early and made for a stonking day and occasion.I don,t remember getting home,one word,Brilliant,my poor head and wallet.

A marking dog is basically that,it will hunt up and mark where the quarry is at,below ground,in a wall,up a tree etc.It saves entering a dog or ferret into an un-occupied location,thus saving time and trouble netting up etc.A good marking dog is an essential part of the days hunting,for some,it saves so much time that could be better utilised more fruitfully.The easiest way to train them is starting young and following a more experienced dogs example,otherwise its just a case of getting them out and giving them guidance.Not all mutts make reliable markers,especially if they are pushed by the o

Far from the same result,chin or neck,instant death,cosh,especially a struggling target,cosh again,blood snot and tears all over the webs,chin or neck is clean and efficient.It takes a relative short amount of time,if educated,to dispatch a bunny in a humane manner,the only way it should be undertaken.

I can hunt all year,with better reward,for that amount of dosh.3 packs of bacon at farm-foods for £6,a seasons bushing and thrashing about,possibly less than £200,possibly the thrill and hunt,priceless,especially with a rough arsed porker smashing the cover and mutts,ah well back to the rodents.
