Ye must be good men to dig as thats almost 9ft in 1half hours,fair play. they say ya slow down the older ya get fatman Ive slowed down big time,lol almost at a stand still,leave the diging to the young lads but still tell them how to do it.

Dog has to find and get settled 1st so your looking at least 20min then with a 9ft dig your goin to have to make the dig at least 5-6 ft in lenght and 3ft wide to give yourself room to work,so soft ground or not and with 2 diging its still a lot of diging.

Used to do a lot of lamping years ago but have not been at it in a long time,kept dhxgh's took all game big and small.I now have a bullxgh but dont lamp her and she geting on a bit now[10] so a bit late to start her,lol but might get myself something for next season,see what the summer brings.

Is that the 1 on the Irish lads by Bluck or the 1 by Broadhurst.I have the 1st 1 by broadhurst and its ok,some men in it i know most i dont but interesting reading the interviews and seeing different kennells of terriers of every breed.

Ok mate thanks for your reply but I don't go on facebook thanks anyway. Stay away from anything thats for sale on fb or dd,as you will only be buying rubbish,take your time and search for lakeland pups that the parents are geting worked hard and can be seen then youare in with a chance.

If your terrier is working its fox tight enough then you wont be blocking the tube,just shorting the stop-end,and using sticks is a bad idea as eventuallt they will either fall through or rot then the backfill sinks.A lot of the problem with backfill is pure lazyiness.

I agree with what you say,when the dog reaches its fox in a stop it should not allow it past,but we dont know what happenes under the ground.When a fox bolts it might have been lying up in a tube,not a stop.There was a thread on here some time back about a certain dog that was supposed to have let a fox past it.I dug the dog several times and no way in the world would he let a fox past,1st of he could kill a fox double quick and 2nd the dog was the full of any decent size tube,im not saying the fox did not get out but if he did it was via a different route.

Foxdropper to put it in a different way.Pre-ban when people could dig bigger game to have a terrier that you could dig consistently to badger was a good terrier,but i seen a hell of a lot of failed badger dogs that you could dig fox with week in week out.Lads also talk of bolting terriers,what good would they have been pre-ban where a bolt very seldom happened.I agree that a bolting type of terrier is probably usful to a hunt terrier man that has a job to do and he has to do it fast as possible to keep the huntsman happy or in undiggable places where if it dont bolt it can be called out,every

Imo,its no big deal to dig a fox with any terrier whatever the breed as most breeds will work a fox.I seen a very small yorkie bitch about 30 year ago that was a demon on fox,also seen a small collie bitch that was dug to on fox several times,she might not reach everyone she went to but she certainly tried.Plummer terrier,no reason why it should'nt work fox aswell.

Fox looks a big animal with its pelt on but when skinned it has a body like a snake,thata how its able to squeeze up into tight tubes.

I would say most gun dogs of every breed nowadays are kc reg and they do as good as any that are non reg.I have had springers that were both reg and non reg and no difference in there work rate,i think its more the amount of work you put in front of them,in saying that i would not take anything that is bred solely for show.
