Maybe next to him but i doubt they in the same league as old billy. They are supposed to be dangerous in water, drown a dog in deep water.
-
For the men who seen Smithy work, was he a mute dog or a mixing type that could also finish the job,the rags bitch seemed like a good animal.

had a border x lakie on trial last year supposedly a very good sounder had him loose coming up to an earth and could see he picked a hunt along a bank and went to ground at 100 mph and came out at 200 mph about 30 seconds later completly bust up with his tail between his legs out bolted an otter straight after, and the the dog never entered ground again lol there tuff fu*kers I reckon it was more down to the dog than the otter, tougher game out there pre-ban.

Friend was telling me that a lot of otters were drowned in eel nets when eels were at a top price and it was legal to fish them. They would swim along the walls of the net until they casme to the tunnel then they entered to get at the eels but could not get back out so drowned.I think the ESB have taken over the fishing rites to eels now and its only tendered out to licenced holders which reduces the amount of nets on our lakes and rivers,i believe they only use long lines now, again the otter, lovely animal.

They can reach weights up to 12lb in this lake, always a couple of double figure fish caught each year, holds some big pike aswell.

Before anyone jumps the gun i am well aware that otter hunting is illegal but do any of you lads ever come across them in earths while out,i have dug 2 and bolted 2 in the lenght of time im at terriers.2 year ago we bolted 1 from a drain and dog did not show so we located him working away.We started a dig thinking we were actually diging to a 2nd otter and to our surprise we opened up to a dog fox, both in the 1 drain.I think they are a lovely animal and would not go out of my way to harm 1,seen them on the local rivers several times while fishing, very inquisitive animal.

Maybe so but there legecy lives on.

Well the trout season on my local lake opened on the 1st but weather and personal reasons prevented me from goin.I was speaking with a friend on wed eve and he and another chap braved the elements, snow, sleet and bitterly cold and caught 9 fish rangeing from 73/4 to 4 1/2 lb in weight, all wild brown trout.I intend to go this coming sunday morn so hopefully bring home the tea.

There is still good terriers been produced consistently both here and in the uk,not everyone has gone down the money route.

put one over a cocker and I'd Ave it for.bushing I was thinking the same, they a lot to add what the cocker yeah mate yeah a plummer x cocker would make a smashing bushing dog There is nothing a cocker could put in to make a decent Plummer better, my mate trains lots of cockers, springers, pointers, gun dogs of all types and he regularly comes out for a day with me and is amazed how they smash through the cover, never miss a scent and some days catch more than the lurchers, I would say get out and see some decent ones work not the show type stuff that makes up 95% of Plummers, I work mi

Get yourself 2-3 hounds that have slowed down a bit from someone that keeps a pack,if its only small beats your doing a couple of experienced hounds is plenty, you can always add a couple of youngsters as you go.It also pats to live in a remote sort of area as hounds can be very vocal when locked in a compound.I used to keep a few and had to get rid as they got used to the van and when i started it at 6 in the morn to go to work they started aswell, lol.

Did U Ever Hear About The Man Down The Road

I reckon if the man down the road had surplus pup-pups and was offered 2-3 hundred for it he would not say no. -
Fairplay Jigsaw, bitch starting well for ya,she looks like a good strong bitch, had a dog that way bred some years back, very hard at his work.

Are you doing a bit of ferreting there Liam, lol, or has she you planting flowers.

I have heard a few lads say pre-ban that there terrier finished badger to ground, but imho in reality i reckon that 99% of this happening is due to the animal smothering due to pushing up so tight it blocks of itself for air and is then dug to but dead where then the owner and his terrier take the credit,it probably did happen on occasion but never consistently.
-
Lol,it would be some terrier that could finish every Badger it was put to pre-ban and anyone that would even think that knows f**k all about diging.
-
Dog has to find and get settled 1st so your looking at least 20min then with a 9ft dig your goin to have to make the dig at least 5-6 ft in lenght and 3ft wide to give yourself room to work,so soft ground or not and with 2 diging its still a lot of diging. And a shit load of shovelling out. Digging deep and throwing well back lol. How accurate are the latest terrier finders?is it what it says on the box? next time you sit on the couch having a cup of tea look at the opposite wall, start at the skirting board and let your eyes move slowly up the wall to the ceiling thats at least 8ft i liv
