  1. Met the man 3 times and found him to be a very down to earth lad that did not blow his terriers up to be anything special and actually told me that a chap i also met a couple of times had a better line of his breed than he had himself. He also had no interest in talking about his own terriers, more interested in what other people were running on,i actually believe his son does more diging than nick actually does anymore.
  2. Seen some very good english bull x russells that were used for diging and they put a lot of stuff on the sod for the men that owned them.
  3. I heard when you get bitten by a fox Demsh brings the fox to the nearest vets and gets it jabbed up for every diease known, lol.
  4. Body n Soul festival on aswell CG,just between Kells n Delvin, reckon you might enjoy it.
  5. Strange time of year for the season to start.
  6. You seen 1st hand what type we keep Mosby so you understand where im coming from.As you say a fox can easily be dealt with but in some cases they can give a very good account of themselves[tight corners-up on a ledge] and a terrier can take a lot of grief in geting too them. Not running down the bayer type of terrier but they are not the type i like especially if they tend to stand of there fox when foxy starts to come forward, but every man to his own,im not goin to tell lads what type they should keep or breed for,il look after my own yard.
  7. Stopend,you smoking the funny stuff again,thats like a script from shakespear,lol.
  8. Know a couple of men that done interviews for the book,1 in particular a good friend of mine and they have not heard a whisper from JB when in fairness the men that gave the interviews to make up the book should all have got there free copy 1st before any went on sale, bad form imo.
  9. Thats the way todays laws are dictating to us but if you keep breeding bayer-bayer well imo eventually you will end up with second rate terriers. My moto was never to breed of a bitch that was not capable of ending a fox below ground and for the dog to do it on a regular basis.Lads keep different standards of terrier and thats there choise but i reckon if everyone started to keep bayers it would be the runation of the working terrier, jmo.
  10. Yes i read your post D4G What i saying is i dont give a toss who sells pups, its there choice and peoples choice if they want to purchase 1 or not but BN breeding is in a hell of a lot of yards all over the british isles and is the mainstay of a lot of lads line of terriers compared to your ordinary joe bloggs, not saying your ordinary lad cannot breed a good dog but to do it the amount of years that Nuttal has takes dedication and his terriers are still been used in hunt service and by lads he knows so he is still producing workers whether hes a paddler or not,a lot of lads that bitch abou
  11. He may have advertised but he aint bending nobody's arm to buy his stock and i would say 90% of the pups he sell are to people contacting him wanting to purchase his stuff.I am listening to lads since the early80s wanting to buy pups of BN,and lads are still interested in buying his stuff so the man must be doing something right or people would not be still buying from him, like if you get a dodgy car in the garage and joe bloggs down the road also gets a dodgy car, well word wont be long goin about to stay clear of that said garage.
  12. Liked his 1st book on terrier men +terriers, knew a couple of the men that were mentioned in it,i dont think he could be compared to Bluck, like chalk n cheese.
  13. My diging mate had 1 some years back, brilliant dog in cover and also a good dog below ground, was hunted with a mixed pack of harrier hounds belonging to his uncle and in heavy cover he was very good, many the time when hounds would run a fox to ground he would be right with them and have him bolted in no time.
  14. Dip the spade in a bucket of water every spade full. Lol,look well going across the land with diging tools terriers and a bucket of water.
  15. Stick to the goats Liam, like myself I can just about turn the fooking thing on.
  16. Best thing is just get on with it and as said a good sized rock or stone at the side of the dif to knock the shovel on every so often usually does the trick, worst is when it gets on the handle of the shovel.
  17. For my 2pence worth, firstly i would not use a dog that is not tried and tested,at least 3 seasons behind him,so secondly why is the spewer-jacker still about,it has to be at least 4 year old.
  18. Would not give him the steam of me piss let alone buy his book,he is an out an out peddler not a terrier man.
  19. Season before last we were short on dogs and had plenty of diging so i just mentioned it on another forum and a chap who is a member of thl gave us the use of 1 of his dogs for the remainder of the season. We had around 12-15 digs with this dog and he really took us out of a spot as we only had 4 workers and 3 were of the hard type so were laid up on occasion and only youngsters that were too young to start so it got us out of a fix.Same chap gave my mate up 2 workers last season and the young stuff we have all made the grade so plenty of diging was had.He nderstood the type of diging we done a
  20. My dogs are fed mostly on tripe and butchers trimmings and any other stuff that can be got including trimmings from the odd deer that i shoot witrh no effects but i once a few year ago fed them horse meat and it went through them like castrol oil through a cat and they actually faded away in the 3-4 days they were scouring, probably my own fault for feeding them too much too soon.
  21. Tallyboy when you say dog is flying, how many digs has it had,and in another post you mention that you dont put your dog in a position that you are not in control of,once a terrier goes in the ground no one can predict the outcome.
  22. IMO a terrier has not the same freedom as say 30year ago when you could let it run loose and skip from 1 side of a bank to the next or run a bank of holes incase old billy-brock is at home so its on a lead and walked to an entrance now but a good well seasoned terrier should mark an occupied earth or say no when empty, after all thats what that thing on the front of there face is for, lol.I have seen lads while out rough shooting with springers keep sending the dogs into the hedge or cover but again a good springer does not need to do every inch of hedge, they should enter where the game is,jmo.
  23. Maybe so Stopend but most of us keep them too ourselves and dont plaster them all over the www. them pics are totally legal about 34 years ago when he was a registered hunt servant Maybe so Stopend but most of us keep them too ourselves and dont plaster them all over the www. them pics are totally legal about 34 years ago when he was a registered hunt servant Maybe so Stopend but most of us keep them too ourselves and dont plaster them all over the www. them pics are totally legal about 34 years ago when he was a registered hunt servant I never said they
