  1. I understood that aludex was gone of the market, isnt that a wash?
  2. Thats probably true, they would be very usefull to the lurcher lads that wanted a bolt rather than a dig and then move on but the trouble starts when these 20 minute wonder dogs start geting bred from and sold as diging dogs, even a 20 minute wonder will bare working signs if it gets up close and personal so easy to fool the would be buyer.Like many has said a 20 minute terrier can be a great asset to any man as long as they are honest with themselves and everyone else that the terrier is just that.
  3. Good strong youngster for the coming season Zilverhaze, best of luck with it.
  4. Nice litter Danny,are they borderxfell .
  5. I would have liked to put her to a white dog,but I could not find one that fitted the bill, mabye in the future I might come on one that I consider good enough.Best of luck with your litter. Good strong looking pups Liam, hope they do the buisness for ye.
  6. For the urban digger trackies and trainers would most probably fit in with the local dog walkers and do gooders,a lad with a terrier and digging gear dressed in camo wearing a good pair of digging boots might stick out a bit much.
  7. Correct they are able to catch and kill the grey squirrel but they will also kill every other small animal or game birds they come in contact with and wipe out a pen of fowl if they gain entry.A local man to me actually seen forestry reps releasing pine martin into a young forestry but yet at an nargc meeting when asked they denied this.
  8. AC dont live in W-Meath and also did not breed said dogs.
  9. FD the way it looks and sounds any man could have a good holiday on a litter of chocs.I go to maybe 2 shows a year and that is exactly why i dont go to more. When you see a terrier, dont matter what colour bieng paraded about in a ring and you known full well it has never left the owners sitting room let alone graft, and worst of all is if its a working terrier show, imo there should be 2 categories 1 for the ribbon brigade and 1 for workers.Keven EM of here runs a good show, proper working terriers that have seen plenty of work, way it should be.
  10. There in pest numbers about my area at present, everytime i take the dogs for a walk i see one if not 2 in a small area. They are an out and out killer, and nothing is safe with them as they are brilliant climbers and the speed they move at in the tree's is unreal, imo they should be on the vermin list same as mink.
  11. No i just have respect for my terriers, thats where me and you differ because at this day and age any man that lets a terrier to ground without a locator on has little or no respect for there terriers.I dug pre-locator,not by choice because they were not invented then but soon as they were i bought a locator.Do you inoculate your dogs or just leave them and if they live they live.I lost a litter of pups many years ago through parvo viris,no inoculations back then but i have not lost a pup to parvo since as i jab them against it now, another great invention same as the locator,TECHNOLOGY.
  12. Wont be long now, another 6 weeks or there abouts and we will have a poke about.
  13. The locator has saved the life of many the terrier. The difference of todays terriers and the terrier pre-locator is that todays dogs get a lot more digging, not because they are better terriers but because nowadays they can be dug to 2-3 times a day where as before you could spend most of a day at the 1 earth depending on its size and depth.Depth also favours the locator as now a terrier can be droped in almost anywhere but before a wide berth was given to a lot of places unless you had a 10 minute wonder or something that could be called out.Pre-locator it took a bit of know how to locate a te
  14. Not every cloud has a silver lining, and dont believe all you read.Them men could be proud as it was a hell of a rescue. Why do you keep drifting away from my question,WHY PUT A TERRIER IN DANGER WHEN THERE IS NO NEED TO DO SO.The ullswater rescue is history, past tense,we are moved on a lot since.Everyman to his own,if thats the way you enjoy your hunting then crack on and good hunting to you.because it's illegal. He can enjoy working his dogs within the law, so why push the boundries and break the law But its not illigal, its just the way they go about it.

  16. Lazy man,get out and walk the dog, lol.
  17. Have to agree, lab or retriever or even spaniel are brialliant about kids, irish terrier would be a no no as far as im concerened,to aggresive.
  18. Fat man, mr scent, Difficult for me te answer you, because I dont speak english. But I would be clear on this subject. Locate the dog without collar is became our prefered hunt. When you heard a little noise after two hours searching, it's marvellous. The great problem for a terrierman is to have the right dog for the right job. If the job needs to be a bit noisy, you need a baying dog. I think that locator may become dangerous for dogs. Those who hunt with locators have more problems than those who hunt the old way. It's a matter of dog selection. With a locator you can u

  20. They all work on the same frequency as far as I know, so should work without any problem. The bnf box and ortovox collar actually work better, more accurate than the bnf set,we use both without any probs.
  21. Bet the antis wont save this for there posters because you did no harm to her or the cub,but if you had killed her or her cub it would be a different kettle of fish with them, hope you have plenty more encounters with her.
  22. Blaise i really envy the freedom ye have as regards hunting with terriers.I also from reading your posts see that ye do not use a locater on your dogs, can i ask have ye ever had the misfortune to lose a terrier to ground because of this.I know you use sounders or the sounder type but accidents can happen like a cave in or a place you always thought was digable suddenly turns out to be deep and the dog cant be located.I know ye have your laws but would it not be wiser to collar up and give the terrier a safer life, jmo,i dug years ago pre-locater but would never enter a terrier without a collar

  24. They are a good tool no doubt about it,but to say it will break concrete is a bit of an exaggeration or else its very weak concrete.I worked at concrete for years and on some occasions had to break out existing concrete to reinstate with new and it was hard work with a jack hammer let alone a 2 prong fork, but in hard ground[shale tight stoney ground] it does a good job.
  25. Heard at the wknd that Brian Nuttal was back in hospital, anyone know how he is doing.
