  1. Someone that thinks of or treats animals as their children. not me then i love my dogs and ferrets much more. Hope you're joking . My kids take top spot but the mutts aren't too far behind. They are treated as dogs though, to treat them as kids shows major disrespect to both dogs and kids.

  3. You're beginning to sound quite sensible and I'm beginning to warm to you. If your dog's fed properly why would it need "balancing" and WTF is "balancing" anyway?
  4. There's definitely something to be said for this. If you change all at once you can cause upset stomachs and diahrrhoea. (can never feckin' spell that without looking it up )
  5. That'd be no problem to me. I love ham.
  6. I've never had a racing greyhound from a pup but I've stockbroken a racing whippet with about three quarter racing greyhound blood and found no problem. I find racing blood far easier to get a bond with and far less feral than some strains of saluki can be. A saluki or heavily saluki blooded lurcher isn't necessarily going to be a problem but the possibility is always there. Justin Glover's rescue is to my mind a prime example of a pup whose previous owner failed to cope. Then again, most rescue dogs become rescues because of their previous owners failing them one way or another. The other p
  7. I totally agree. So even before I get the dog I'm getting a cat for it to live with. Because if you live in town and your dog starts having breakfast on the neighbour's moggies you are already in trouble. Then there is the problem of toy dogs. In town you're surrounded by them. And if she starts eating them it's court cases. And then there's sheep. And the problem about living in town is that there aren't any. So how the hell do you set about breaking your dog to them? I have a cat and my dogs are fine with him but he is "their"cat. I keep a close eye on them anywhere where other cats m
  8. I fed chicken necks (hammered to a pulp on an anvil at first then whole once she was used to them), gain record breaker, and beef lamb rabbit and pork scraps, all raw and minced and occasional raw kidneys and cooked liver. All raw meat frozen for a week first. She made 29 inches at the shoulder.
  9. Don't really think so but I have to say the thought crossed my mind. It's just the kind of thing he'd do, isn't it?
  10. Make sure not to leave anything electrical plugged in while he's alone. I've known a dog to chew through a cable and get a belt off it. He survived and went on to chew up lots more things.
  11. I've got multiple pictures of every dog I've had, going back to times long before digital cameras and the internet. If you had and loved that bitch for so long you'll have pictures of her. Stick a few up lass.
  12. Do you have any photos of the dog you had??
  13. You forgot cats though . Like cats or loathe 'em (and I like them) a dog that kills them can cause you no end of trouble.
  14. The way I read it the gripe was that they reckoned that 20 percent of trainers were live baiting. In my opinion any dog that won't chase a lure is not worth persisting with as a racer anyway and should just be rehomed.
  15. Here we go again, yawn Don't take what I say too seriously, I actually kind of like salukis lol You may as well admit... you like bulls too and if you hadn't talked yourself into a corner you'd probably get a 1st cross saluki/bull.
  16. Be hard to tell on land like that. You'd have to see him run on small fields with cover to really know if he could or not.
  17. Lurcher themed flower arrangements .
  18. WITH THE DOGS AT DAWN Misty words billow in the cold Pluming from their mouths Quiet swearing and first smoke coughing They walk close to hedgerows Kicking the dew from the grass As birds squabble over breakfast And mushrooms are still socialising They whistle the dogs to heel All panting and wagging tails Stirring the dawn damp air For happy is the early dog In these sumptuous fields Now the business of dawn begins Low sharp commands are uttered Bringing the younger bounding learners To a proper sense of purpose And that high-toned cross breed The sleek and swift lurcher Is eternally proud
  19. Same as he said, hope you reconsider mate.Best of luck whatever you do. P.S. the Minshaw thread was one of my favourites of all time.
  20. A RUNNABLE STAG When the pods went pop on the broom, green broom, And apples began to be golden-skinn'd, We harbour'd a stag in the Priory coomb, And we feather'd his trail up-wind, up-wind, We feather'd his trail up-wind- A stag of warrant, a stag, a stag, A runnable stag, a kingly crop, Brow, bay and tray and three on top, A stag, a runnable stag. Then the huntsman's horn rang yap, yap yap, And 'Forwards' we heard the harbourer shout; But 'twas only a brocket that broke a gap In the beechen underwood, driven out, From the underwood antler'd out By warrant and might of the stag, the stag, T
  21. Not a poem, a song, and not by me.
