Well done,.nice tale So erudite, so truthful, a genuine recollection, mercifully free from the taint of boastful arrogance.. I can personally recall so many similar dark nights.. Such stories need to be jotted down,..before it is too late.

Setting Bgs On Trees ?
Phil Lloyd replied to Bunny Digger's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Facts are, we work in the crowded and densily populated UK,..not the wilderness of the Canadian backwoods.... No set is ever 100% safe,...most tunnels/cubbies are vulnerable to interference,..so,.the onus is on the trapper, to show 'due diligence',.or sooner or later, the shit will hit the fan and we will lose yet another tool. in the trapper's armoury.... Therefore, we have to be sensible..... -
Well,..when I first got a computer and discovered the various Hunting Forums,..I was told that you had to have a user name. I tried several,...some a wee bit daft, but all fairly obvious. Eventually settled on CHALKWARREN,...mainly because my ferreting trips darn sarf,..were made amidst the vast chalk warrens on the South Downs of Hampshire, West Sussex, etc...so I thought the name appropriate.. All the best, Phil.

Fair play...

Anthony,.you original question was a wee bit naive,... You ask to hear the opinions from lads who have owned and used dogs, that came via David Hancock,.but,.only if they have something nice to say about their experience.. What you don't want to hear about, is folk who are less than happy, with their purchases,.. In my experience,.it is best to listen to everyone's opinions,...good or bad,..then, perhaps do as many have already done,..go to Birmingham and buy a new pup,.or correspondingly,..walk on by.... No offence intended,. and obviously,.all the best for the future, ...kind r

Personaly,.I have always felt that with the Herding type composites,..the genuine first cross is only ever,.. a starting point I like to see how the initial hybridisation has worked out,.. then maybe take things further

The rabbit situation often goes from bad to worse,..however,..the great survivor will always survive... I have been fortunate in having half a century's worth of sport,..(and profit) from the humble coney... Trust me,..you will always find a shushi to hunt,.especially if your jukel takes time out to look..

Trapping Squirrels
Phil Lloyd replied to liam fox digger's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
There is enough room in the UK for a variety of different traps and snares,...they all have their place in the scheme of things -
That was lovely.....

Been happening to me over the last decade,...I knew IT was coming,.tried to fight the ageing process,..but was always on a loser. My problem has not been in getting old,.it has been in accepting the fact....Tried all sorts of tricks and treats, but nothing beats chilling out,.facing facts and sensibly learning to adapt.... Accordingly,..I have bred myself, an 'old mans cur'.. She runs around, like a thing possessed,.wild as a fox,...all my old pals say the same thing,.."Phil,.you have lost the fecking plot".... But,.so what,..facts are,...life is too short, to worry what others

We often work alongside Public footpaths, Nature Reserves,.Schools, Factory Units...etc, etc... Most folk can be educated as to what you are trying to achieve,..but some poor souls feel a genuine pain when they see rabbits hitting nets, or being nabbed by dogs. Unfortunately,.there is no time to take these troubled folk to one side and carefully explain , the business... On a paid job, you only have a few hours to effect a result,..so,..I have found it best, to be polite and act professional. Occasionally you will meet a person,..or group of folk,.who try to get in amongst the nets

Cracking series,.obviously in a work of fiction,...some artistic license is acceptable,..it ain't no Documentary.. Love everything about the program....the colour, the graphics,..real class ...

Walk tall,.stand up straight and ,..."Hank em' High"

Eddie,...that trap is best placed, a wee bit back, in the cubby,...a fox/dog/cat could put his face right into it,...and a BMI 116 will hold fast on a jaw,... If you need items from the States,.talk to the vendor, and arrange for some Trade Samples to be sent over...if ya get my drift All the best, Phil.

That concept is total illogical....

This ole Lurcher World seems to get ever more complicated,..

So sad for the poor guys being killed,...death will come to us all,..but hopefully in a quiet and dignified way in the bosom of our families,.not in some god forsaken arid desert at the hands of folk who quite frankly, have nothing to lose.... RIP.Alan Henning...

Super looking pups....just the type I like...

Good at staying married,...40 years together yesterday.... Took her with me to rake down a 100 plus molehills,.then as a special treat, allowed her to steady the ladders, while I dusted two large Hornets nests,.. It was a wee bit hairy for five minutes,..but I was well suited up,..so at least one of us was reasonably safe... Rosy can still run though,....in fact,.it was, emotional... Don't anyone ever say, that I don't know how to treat a gal...
