I got a real handy wee cur for those old bushes,... Seriously though, this really is, the Sport of Kings,..so wish I could go back to my bushing days,...so much fun, a real stressbuster...

You will see family groups this time of year...

Beautiful to see,... I love having a pup around...

Forget what you think it is,..it doesn't matter really, now does it... Just get the tyke out there all Summer long, let him feel the sun on his back and allow him to learn plenty of manners..., etc... He is simply a young lurcher pup,..a predator,..a hunting dawg... Come the Autumn,..let him have a look around at some game,...then you will know for sure,..what he really is...

Some interesting and thought-provoking comments... The most useful work dogs that I have owned, all had one thing in common,..they were adaptable... Situations on the hunting field vary immensely, and a canny predator will use everything to his advantage, to secure a victory...

No,... not since the late 80s,...I believe he went over to the States...

Well, we have all got to get by,.. as best we can... However,.the fact of the matter is. it takes a lot of effort to produce Vids and DVDs,... We would all go for a cheap copy, as opposed to paying full price,...it makes sense to do so... But,..facts are,...the copying of the tapes has ensured that very few new films will ever be made ... Possibly the future lies via the streaming facilities provided by the Internet...? I've reams of original SVHS footage, going back to the early 70s/80s,...so many familiar faces,.. doing their thing... It would be a shame not t

I rate Glenn Waters as the Master Trapper...

Watched Homeland on TV last night,...saw a Ransomeware geek get his smarmy face smashed in... Loved it,...I would give £5000 in cash, to be awarded such a priceless opportunity...

Daytime Roe,..hunted from cover,..then, culled and curried

Locally we call them soft coated ones, Blue Bevans, I don't really know why... Caught rabbits throughout the UK in a variety of colors... It's always a shock when a strange hued animal hits the net,..makes you stand back,.. just for a second mind ...

Deerhound x 15 months old soon
Phil Lloyd replied to scottish hare hunter's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Nice types,..just like the Deerhound lurchers of the 80s,...great times... -
The blocks of chicken mince are cheap and cheerful,.. most lurchers seem to thrive on it. Personally, I prefer to feed the dogs on the whole raw carcasses. Chicken bone is soft and doesn't offer much in the way of knawing exercise for a dog, but I feel eating, them gives the jukel a wee bit of entertainment.

Only ever used the Poke nets and Gate/Gap nets (for Hares) with sliders on them. I don't make a very good net myself, so all the ones that I've been generously gifted, have been fitted with wire sliders. So,... I shall stick with them...
-
Handy nets for gaps and runs on top of the hedge of in the ditches. All they are is mini-gate nets (same as used for the Hares...and when knotted onto sliders, they are deadly...

That is a terrible thing to happen, fellah... Lost a couple in the same manner,...good to hear you have got straight back on the horse,..its the only way...

Nice post, Archie,... That could have gone badly W.Katchum,...I once had a lurcher run into a slurry pit, trying to cut off a hare... I got her out with the aid of a long pole,...it was like a scene from Lassie,.fecking emotional... Did you get your message...
-
I like most meat,.but of late, I have been getting a nice chunk of belly pork and cooking it, on a bed of onions and garlic... Really enjoying it...
-
Maybe,... But I feel someone, somewhere,.. could harness and utilize his physical attributes and stamina, far more than he has used them... However,...maybe it is just too late to change,..perhaps he is,.what he is... Shame though...
-
Eubanks needs to go and stay with a top trainer,.fecking waste of a natural talent,...he is going nowhere fast at the moment. He got everything wrong and was convincingly beaten,.but, would anyone travel around the country,... to watch George Groves,... Boring as feck...

I have done this mating, .both ways,...never had a problem... Now, my Deerhound x Whippet,..was a tad more emotional,...but, we 'got there, in the end...
