There is a way Bill..it is called the Baer Test,..sadly, there are not many places that do it. I took my bitch to a place in Hampshire,..she was found to be Bi-Laterally deaf,...(only able to hear, in one ear and none too fecking good with the other)... When I was there, the vets were testing two litters of Dalmatians and a litter of White English Bull Terriers,...it was emotional...

Yes, she is a comical wee thing,...loves to hunt,...anyfeckingthing... We don't actually catch much, .but its great craic being out with her. I've lost most of the season, mouching, ferreting, etc, due to her sustaining a debilitating injury... Thankfully, my Greyhound vet has managed to sort things out,....fingers crossed...

Probably for the best...

It's your call really... If the guy is keeping the entire litter on,..and I suspect he will,..you have the luxury of being able to sit back and watch, as the story unfolds... Forwarned is forearmed,...and if you take a fancy to a particular whelp I would ask if you can spend a bit of time with it, prior to making a decision. Not all the litter will be affected...

Nowadays, a roustabout bush-buster, with a smidgeon of Whippet, Greyhound and a noticeable dose of herding dog, suits me just fine...

Oh, I knew fellah well,... I had a pretty fair idea that something was amiss... I've purchased a deafy, and sadly, bred one myself...the signs will be there if you watch a suspect pup closely. Usual suspects carry a fair bit of white around the head,...and as we all now know,... the Merle x Merle union can be a disaster... However, I do recall seeing an extremely colorful litter back in the 1980s, they were M+M, how they all turned out I cannot say. Back in the day, we were truly in the dark and had no real comprehension of the dire results that could occur from su

Any 1 planning a litter of firstx bull greyhound puppies
Phil Lloyd replied to Supersid's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Seen some handy looking lurchers, exhibiting obvious Bull blood influence... I would have really enjoyed owning such useful running dogs, back in the late 1980s... -
We were too genuine,..we were too honest, we were too polite,...we were wrong...it got us nowhere... What I did learn was,.no matter how passionate, or how tough a group of country sports lads are, they are physically, no match, for a trained group of Riot Police... It was unfair, it was painful,.it was,...emotional... Photos Mike the Dog...

In my experience, most folk who enquire about commercially bred, Collie based lurchers, have already made up their minds to purchase one.

Sounds just right for me TOMO,...

Goodonya FastDogz If a dog has temperament issues and is of a nervous disposition,..it is extremely hard to combat their disability,..and it is a disability. The 21st-century lifestyle awards scant allowance for any canine (or human for that matter) that, for whatever reason, cannot fit in... It is doubtful that you can remedy the affliction at this late hour, all you can do is try to understand the problems that the older dog faces and continue to show understanding. As for your new jukel,..get him out at the earliest possible time and allow him to see the world,..and no

Epic capture Sir That ferret,...is a Master of his Trade,..and when I brought my bitch Dusty, back out, from her five years lay off, I was privileged to be allowed to handle him. He did not let me down and provided us all, with some champion sport...

The first cross, Collie/Greyhounds can sometimes be incredibly variable, both in physique and sagacity... They are not for everyone,...you have really got to want one, to achieve any measure of success,...and, you need to be realistic with your demands of such a hybrid. Personally,... I like them, they suit me fine,..always enjoyed schooling and working with them, ....always will...

'night latching' fenn traps
Phil Lloyd replied to ellir0305's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
It's handy...works well on the triggers of most steel traps... -
Sorry to hear about the loss of your good Wife,..if it ever happened to me, I would most probably curl up and die... Good that you have thrown yourself into the physiology of the canine, and found an interest, studying the primitive mindset of the dog. All the best, Phil...

Seen the soldiers wearing these jackets in various parts of the world,..and always fancied one for myself. I've been using a Sealand Fleece, but it's not a patch on my Softee... So glad that I purchased a genuine Softee jacket,...super warm item of clothing,..not waterproof and no way suitable, for a bush, busting hedgerow ferreter, but ideal for having a mouch around, high up on the Southern Downs. I would fancy that the Dales hunters would also find these cheap and cheerful, used military jackets, just right for their tough old game. I know from experience just how chilly i

A wee bit unnecessary,...not to my taste. Sadly, I've met a few men over the years, that would seem to enjoy such a spectacle...

Yours is a hard old way to make a living fellah,..no doubts about that... -
Yes I have,...caught plenty of gear,.(Hares and Roe) but it was always heart in mouth stuff,..exciting, but to enjoy the hunt, you did require some Valium. However, I still think a well balanced, average sized, cobby style of Greyhound to be one hell of a canine...
