    It is a difficult one... Personaly,..(although dog shows have feck all to do with working dogs)....I think the criteria has always been to try and pick a Champion that,..(in the Judges' opinion)...is capable of undertaking the task, for which it has originally been bred .. Therefore, I have never picked a youngster over a 'made dog',.nor would I allow an ancient doddery critter, possibly ten years of age,.to stand above a superb physical specimen, so obviously in its absolute prime...     That poor woman ...her life RUINED by those verminous weasels...     I had a similar thing to this with my young Greyhound/Whippet /Collie lurcher... At first, the injury was diagnosed as being a torn Cruciate Ligament .(bad fecking news) Then,.. the X Ray revealed a tiny 'detatched,..floating bone' next to the stifle joint ? After much deliberation, as regards the future success or failure,. of an Op... we decided to give the youngster complete rest ......for..a fair old time... Complete rest seemed to be the secret.... However, unless your Vet is real confident of a lasting victory,.maybe consider this option, as opposed to an operat

    Most dogs, with a reasonable amount of running dog blood, flowing through their veins, can catch enough gear to satisfy the average Joe....Obviously, if you want to go a wee bit deeper into the game,..well,.then it gets a bit more complicated.... But, for myself, I have always followed my own maxim,..."Temperament, is King"....

    Good craic lads,...I do this in the evening after work, when it starts to get cool,..the dogs have a wee swim first, then some corn jumping, and a good hunt through the Rape fields,.it is great fun,..I only take a wee nylon net,...we get half a dozen rabbits,.then back to the river,..a quick pint of cider in the pub,.and off home. Who could ask for more,.eh...
