  1. Now don't go crazy fellah,...money is tight these days,..so always borrow, rather than buy
  2. Real good brace of posts there Baw... We live where we live,..and unless 'our boat comes in',.there ain't much we can do about it.
  3. Sheepdog/Greyhound x Saluki/Greyhound... Used to be a real popular cross in my area,...I'm pleased to see they are making a return...
  4. I'm same as you Magwitch,...that old Bounce realy gets em leaping...
  5. Some dogs have the 'greatness' in them,...I've never been lucky enough to own such a critter,..but what I do know is,..it is hard to feck up a truly top class animal,..it CAN be done, and for my sins, I have probably managed it,..BUT,..most average lurcher dogs will benefit from all the 'breaks' and assistance that you can give them... Obviously, as I say, the real deals are a wee bit special,.but speaking for myself,..I am in the rabbit control game for the gold doubloons,.I ain't interested in today,..it is tomorrow, that pays my bills... "Work them Hard, and Treat them like Heroes',
  6. We used to keep our working sheepdogs on chains, and they lived out, in wooden barrels,...they were working the hills and valleys in all weathers,.... tough as teak,..fabulous partners.. However,.. the average running dog, is never going to need that type of rugged outlook, and physical toughness... So,..personaly,..I like to have the dogs around me,...they will kennel if required, but I just like to see them all curled up , nice and cosy.. In the season, we are ferreting most days,.we travel all over the South and never really know what is on the cards, until we get out of the truck,..th
  7. Yes, they were superb,..real dogs,..and great family pets as well... I remember when a son of Bilko came South,..Rch Flyby....wow,..what a superb animal he was.... We used to 'run the rag' down here for a while,.but the local council objected to the noise of a Sunday morning... By feck,.them lads and lassies realy used to holler their dogs on... I had dogs out of Big Ben and Blue Peter,...but, unlike my old rabbiting pal Tony, who has stayed loyal to the track' to this day,.I walked away,.and went, 'hare brained'.... Great Summer days though,..I'll never forget them,...you neither
  8. The overall look of the Hard Bloods has definitely changed... I remember our Bilko bred dogs... They were built like little staffs,..bull necks,..big wide backs, and small, but strong jaws.. Same as many other lads, we ran them on anything that got up in front... It was good... Nowadays,..the whippeteers are pretty well clued up, as regards breeding the type of dog they need to WIN,...and there is no place for the original, chunky, short coupled sorts that I favoured. In fact, some of today's 'stars' are so fecking fast, that only a fool would waste them on a poxy w
  9. As you say Sirius,..one could argue forever,...and for ever...
  10. Marvelous wee dogs....and perfect for the close combat job, of quick bolts and mad dashes,..nothing can compete... Up the whippets,..
  11. Absolute corkers,...fabulous condition....
  12. Looks a bang tidy bit of ground,....eh Rolfe... Lets go over,.. and help the lad out,...
  13. In my opinion,...the Whippet is definitely an intelligent and trainable type of running dog... I cannot see any need (or benefit) for coupling one rag dog, to another,...it just isn't necessary... TRAIN the dogs, and EDUCATE them at every opportunity, and you will reap the rewards.... All the best, Chalkwarren..
  14. Wirral Countryman,..I get yer drift,..and yes, times have indeed changed...
  15. Really nice.. Loved it when the bitch followed the hare, up and over, the mound, and kept on after it... Super bit of footage... ATB,.Chalkwarren...
