Nomol Or Trapline Mole Traps?
Phil Lloyd replied to davedavedave's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
@ Matt the Rat..... -
Well,..I love all types of hunting,...and although these days, I only keep a mongrelised type of mouching cur,... (strictly for the rabbits),...I would have to admit,.. for sheer excitement,.a good daytime hunt over rough and wild terrain,..searching for the Roe....realy does take some beating...

Personaly,..I don't give a feck who kills what,..be it Moles, Deers or Shushis,... As for qualifications,.well,.I tried to become a certificated Mowdy Man,..but,.I'm just too fecking dumb,...I didn't even understand some of the questions being presented,..let alone be capable of answering them ! So,.I remain,.what I am.. devoid of certification,.. and possibly ripe for being certified.. As for competition,..well, I've lived through a lifetime of such things,...and in my experience,..'they comes, and inevitably, they goes'.... Catching moles is not a hard thing to do,..most

You did right fellah.... There is Vets,..and 'there is Vets',...if ya get me drift.... Our game,.. is far too precious to let feckwits,..to feck up..

Well done,..just love to see the wind blowing that net out...looks like you got things,. just right... It is a sod when rabbits lay too long in the webs,...and being a hopeless artisan when it comes to rigging, or God -forbid, repairing the nets,..I usually do a quick bant,.then invariably lose my bottle, and make tracks for the net,.pretty darn sharpish.. All the best, Phil.

True words... I've lived through several decades of rabbit deprivation,. often due to the ravages of myxy, constant night shooting, and plain old,...'lack of rabbits'.... I've lost my dogs, my ferrets,.and of late,.my physical strength.... But,..if your heart is in the game,.you just keep on,.keepin on.... Genuine rabbiters will always survive,...just like the rabbit....

Your dogs look real nice.... Best of luck in your search for a suitable outcross.. All the best, Phil. -
It varies fellah.. Some lads round here charge for ferreting/night shooting,.by the acre. They work out a financial agreement, with several Farmers/Estate owners and elect to clear as many rabbits off the land as they can,..over a given period of time. I used to do it like that,.but nowadays, I prefer to be paid, 'per day' and have to mix in the rabbiting work with the Springtime mole trapping' The wasp nest business helps us out, during the summer months....thank feck.. The best payers for me, have always been owners of large country houses. These folk invariably love their gardens

Do give Hywel my very best wishes,...and good luck for tommorow..

No,..I've had several collies,..that one belonged to Hywel,...a keen rabbiting man from Aberdare... We realy should have used him over a Greyhound bitch....too late now...
-
Aye,..I've seen plenty of collies working the woods/brash...and when they are good they are very, very good,.........however,..when they are bad,...they are fecking horrid This was a good'un...

Brambles, Blackthorn and suchlike,.are part and parcel of the ferreting game,...a big old patch of blackness can look quite daunting at first,.but you will find,.. as the day progresses, and the rabbits start to move,..the task suddenly seems noticeably smaller..and that football pitch sized bury,..appears no bigger than your own front room... The most important thing to consider,.. when working long hedgerows warrens or thick dense masses of brash,..is another set of eyes... I've recruited all manner of folk to help out,...they ain't got to do a lot,.. or be experienced hunters,..they j

I have been trying to figure that one out,.. for the last 50 years..

Should Lurcher Be Kept In Kennel And Run?
Phil Lloyd replied to popnoodle's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
In an ideal world,..it would be grand to have our jukels out with us,. all the time,...and for many years, I was lucky enough to be able to live that life.. Sadly,..time moves on and situations change.. I still try and secure employment where a dog can be utilised,.but on many jobs/contracts,..the working location,.railway/motorway embankments,..(areas fraught with danger, too much wire, etc), it is sensible to leave the dogs at home or at best, in the van...But,.the facts are,..( in my opinion),..the more time you can spend with a knowing sort of dog,..the better..Obviously you need the typ
