would you say 13-15 years is about average for small to mid size lurcher ,? Bryn 11 now and in fine fettle , Buck 6 year s old dont think he go as long as Bryn , being a bigger dog .!

nope , if there entered right in the 1st place = 1st, not to young, 2nd try to get them on easy rabbits, not long slips, walk the little fecker right up to the rabbit, and only slip once the dog then. i had cracker little none ped racing whippt bitch, 20in 20lb , she caught loads of rabbits day/night . I raced her sunday morning like other whippets yapped all day long at the track, but out on live stuff , never made a sound, because she knew she could kill them and no need to yap. they only yap on live stuff through frustration , that there over matched fact . true with the dogs ( either got it, or it aint ) regards doing the job you want it to do , pre ban if it was for foxes , alot of people start them to young anyway, some dog dont mature mentally till there near 2 year old, then you want to put 2-3 years work in front of it, and if your happy with and dog still fit and keen , you put few more years into it, so the dog could as said could 8 -9 year old .!! -
just go round the rescue centers , there loads of lurchers / pits etc in there that put to sleep every other day, far to many dogs being bred today, and dogs like lurchers are prob top of the list . ok if your dog had good 8-9 seasons or it gets hurt and carnt run no more , or worse still gets killed ive had few die in the field, well then you get another dog, but that should be about it.!!

maybe max on here got few pics, he kept greyhounds before , Buck sire Razzmatazz greyhound was very good dog, big dog 29in 75lb it easy to see where Buck got his size from as well as gsd , alot of coursing greys get big dogs as well , when you pup bit older put few pics up like to see them .

yep, some you can through to them, others you carnt , greyhounds and whippets can be hard , as well more so greys from racing kennels . i worked at kennels and when they rehome them after time they be ok with the cats in the house , as long as you where there with them. it always in greyhounds really, they make great pets, nice temps very docile and sensitive , but if they get wound up they kill anything, foxes no prob strong dog a greyhound , never underestimate them , more so with cats.

true mate , i had a lurcher x lurcher bitch years ago , got bit from feral cat , it went bad ways in her wrist , it cam up like a cricket ball , as big and hard on her wrist .Idid clean her up with warm salt water when i put her in the kennel . But bloody hell next day 8 hours after like say like cricket ball, had to rush her to vets right away , they put her on a drip, and kept her in for 3 days till the swelling went down, then course of p/tabs for a week, they told me if i hadnt brought her in when i did, she may have lost her leg . So all in all with money and dog in very bad way ,

yeh ok fair point , but why not let the dog heal for a week or so, then he be keen to the job again the week after .? if you got that much ground and quarry , surly you need couple of lurchers to do that amount of work, that way, you got dogs ready for there work and, you got the sport,! like said if your doing that amount of teeth work, nothing better than 1x pit x grey for grit and handling pain, thats the type dogs you need not a beddy x grey or whippet x beddy , get the right dog for the job springs to mind i reckon .!!

i used to read about spud 1x beddy x grey that Garry thing a bob forgot his last name , well it was long time ago , lol . well he did say how good he did his job on foxes solo no prob.But i think he did say that apbt x greys were getting popular , and he could see why , they kill quick very powerful with strong jaws, and take pain like no other lurcher back then, so suppose times moved on with dogs for jobs, and ive always said that the best fox killer i ever saw was Tug 1x staff x grey , he kill them dead quick , like feckin rat lol , it was seeing him that these type d

ok mate , fair point anything stop the poaching of these animals , they need all the help they can get . ive a mate who on a tiger project goes all over the world trying to save these big cats, its a very hard, dangerous job he away hell of a lot from home/mrs got lot of respect for him , he earns he bloody money deff . we spoke many a time when he home with few cans , and both agree , he knows ive worked lurchers , i give him few rabbits when he wants few , that it not so much the killing of any animal. well done penny , for giving it a chance in life, spot on that, looking at the pup , i say collie x grey with drop of wheaten in there , it will shape up though, Buck my big dog, looked like young wolf as pup, lol but got alot more shape to him now , most people thing he got ridge back in him now lol , i give up telling them now haha .
