Legally you can't put a mod on any gun on a FAC unless you have a slot for a mod for the gun. If you do there is no issue buying an Air rifle mod, that you don't need a FAC to buy, and then attaching it to your FAC rifle. At that point the mod becomes subject to FAC rules and you need to advise your region the slot is filled. That's the official route! Strange world of firearms and FAC, you/anyone can walk into a RFD and buy an unproofed SAK, walk into that same RFD and ask for a proofed SAK and you will have to wave your FAC at them. Mods are identical bar a proof stamp.

If you are only interested in field work then the best training/practice is to do it on a regular basis! If you are rusty then practice before you go out, but no amount of laying on a range or in your back garden is like the real thing, with every different set of circumstances and weather you can imagine. Obviously time must be dedicated to zeroing work, but that's about your lot. ATB! Edit For clarification, I am not suggesting you don't need to practice, I am suggesting that getting out and doing it is the best practice you can get!

I don't know where you get your prices but the proper hornet calibre (22) is £40 for 100 at my RFD. Anywhere he can on the Internet! Just the same, £40 x 100 .22 Hornet of any sort is a cracking deal, I'd buy them all up asap!

Well, that's a lot less than most all the centrefires they use! And not much different to .22lr HV and WMR which are both popular in the US. Still, pretty loud for a small round. My point was, yes an unmoderated deer calibre center fire is loud, but generally a single shot?? Where as how do they (US) shoot multiple small vermin at say 50 to 100 yards with an unmoderated .17 HMR?? Doesn't the first shot send everything running for cover? Noise levels of firearms: .22 caliber rifle 130dB .223, 55g. Commercial load 18" barrel 155.5dB .243 in 22" barrel 155.9dB .30-30 in

At the end of the day I rather suspect this will be a simple issue, even if it is a manufacturing problem with the rifle. However, #17 doesn't sound encouraging, but who knows. The RFD doesn't sound that interested to me. Did I miss it somewhere, have you tried with the mod removed completely?

Much appreciated, PM on the way!

No sign of anything yet, ordered lamp, batteries and charger, actually ordered an additional different lamp whist I was at it which was a grand total of £1.82p delivered, very likely rubbish, but at that price I thought it worth the gamble. I received confirmation within a day or two that everything had been shipped, but nothing turned up yet!

Between the rear scope mount and scope. Wrong. The mount/rail fixed to the rifle needs shimming at the rear. Or material removed from the front of the rail. I only recommend shimming scope rings to alter the first cross over distance. Any large adjustment is made at the rifle junction with the sight mounting system. U. Right or wrong doesn't matter in this case, there is no way a 10/22 should need any shims to zero at circa 50 yards!

Tell the shop to sort it, if they cannot sort it then there is a serious problem, get your cash back or an exchange Thats the next step, shouldnt have to mess on like this! It is very obvious to you and everyone here something is far from right. Back to the RFD and get him to sort it or refund. Shims should NOT be required regardless. ATB!

http://www.onelesscharlie.co.uk/products.html Thanks Decker. Does the .17 mod actually work with a noticeable reduction in noise or is it a £130 suck it and see? The 17 calibre (hole size) specific seem to be a tiny bit quieter than the normal .22 size mods fitted to HMR. Just the same I have only heard 2, and frankly my HMR has a Sirocco SM11 .22 hole size fitted. As the theme continues and as I mentioned earlier, the difference in sound moderation is almost entirely down to minor variations in propellant bang reduction, nothing stops the sonic crack. So the difference

Collarum And Belise Foot Snare ?
Deker replied to Wolfdog91's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
The Collarum has been available in the UK for several years now. It has its uses and can be very effective, but not widely used, pal of mine swears by his! Don't know the Belisle foot snare. -
Other than the fact I believe Ruag are the UK Distributor (I think), I am not familiar with these at all. Never fired one, never seen one, don't know anyone who owns one!

This Will Test My Skills / Its A Bad One

Crumbs, I used Cascamite in woodwork at school, a quick look suggests it may have been reformulated, but who knows, it has certainly been re-packaged, they didn't have plastic containers when I was at school! -
There is another thread running about fox traps, perhaps worth a look. Personally I don't have an issue using traps as they come, the fox walks on all sorts and through all things every day, he is used to wire and fences as he commonly tries to break into compounds etc. If you want to cover the base and everything else then give it a try, my experience tells me the fox doesn't give a toss, others may well argue. I have no doubt if this sort of 5 Star luxury worked on fox, then someone making traps would have introduced all this and shouted from the rooftops that their traps worked

That indeed would test most people! Amazing how these things happen. Great repair! -
That is totally the issue. There are minor variations on the effectiveness of the propellant moderation, but nobody has found a way to stop the bullet sonic crack a few feet out of the barrel.

I wish you well, and any/everything is worth a try. As regards fox smells, then as many will give you an argument it puts them off as attracts them. ATB!

There are many like that. I am Secretary of a fullbore Club at Bisley, and there are a couple of members who can put them in the same hole at 200 yards, but put a bunny 20 yards in front of them and they completely miss every time! Such is life, we are not all cut out for this!
