My guess would be neither side wants to peak to early, and there is only so much money to spend as well. I rather suspect we will be inundated with campaigning and media coverage nearer the date!

...........I didn't think they needed any help to rot away, I thought they simply did that by themselves, like a sort of built in obsolescence! PS To be fair they do a stainless now I believe, still not up to the P8 in my book!

So, its getting close apparently, it seems to be us old timers doing it, so, if some of you youngsters would go and vote OUT, there is a good chance we will come out! http://www.msn.com/e...d=mailsignoutmd

My rabbits are shot for Pest Control, there is no sentimentality, its business, and after the initial first or second visit to sites there are not usually many rabbits either. After that it is simply control over the few that tend to remain, big bags become history. Hence why I commonly take a very different view to rabbits/shooting than many who just want a bit of sport and to maintain their sport! Edit Let me also be very clear that I love the countryside, and I am in awe of nature generally! It is amazing to be privileged to see such wonders of seasons, flora/fauna and w

Anyway, back to walshie.... Hope the 527 .22 Hornet works out, your thoughts, comments, review will be interesting in the fullness of time!

I have very little personal experience of the 17g Hornet, but the 20g V-Max flies very similar to the .223 55g V-Max, so that's not bad. As for any gun barrel liking any ammo, then that's with the Gods. It's still a new round and there isn't much choice of ammo, but hopefully something works for you.

Unless you have deep pockets and/or a very specialist use I'd steer clear of these!

My neighbour is a financial consultant and he has no pension,he and 5 other consultants are buying a large building in Liverpool, this will be their pension, even government bonds cannot give you that return on your investment, WM What return would that be? He is speculating, many will tell you he is in for a fall, you make your choices! Hindsight and a Crystal ball are very useful! Any large property in a large city centre is a good investment, since the capital of culture award Liverpool has seen massive increases on their original investments, my other mate Mark bo

You zero at the distance that you need with the ammo you are using. Every rifle will have a marginally different performance, but as a VERY rough guide I'd say 150 yards is useful for a Hornet, if you have rimfires to deliver below that and bigger centrefires above that! Big generalisation just the same!

What Do You Get Out Of Hunting / Shooting
Deker replied to vizlauk's topic in General Airgun Discussion
The problem you have is the Grey is non native and arguably so in the European rabbit. Both cause considerable damage to the countryside/crops and other wildlife. The Government, FC and most farmers, landowners, stables, etc., wants rid of both of them. Landowners are legally bound to remove/control rabbit numbers, https://www.gov.uk/guidance/rabbits-how-to-control-numbers frankly, providing you or anyone else with some sport is not the objective! That's the reality, dress it up however you like! -
Many years back when I was a youngster a baby fell from an Oak in our back garden and tucked itself away behind a tub on our patio. I saw the whole thing, after a while I went out to look and took a crisp to feed the baby (Don't ask, I have no idea why I tried a crisp), it nipped me something wicked on the finger. Lesson learned! Mum came and collected it about 30 minutes later, no idea if it was just winded or hurt!

Lol, it's not like that. I only learnt by making mistakes myself. Am not trying to be pushy but rather encourage a new approach :-) U. I know!

If at all possible consider a private pension asap, and as young as possible. Advise/comment from the likes of THL can be useful, but realistically, discuss this with a professional, preferably 2 or 3 before embarking on this route!

The short answer personally is no, I have never found the need. My latest HMR and WMR triggers were terrible from new, and I fitted the Brooks kit to both, the transformation was remarkable and more than adequate for Field work. My Silhouette .22LR is still original and fine, my latest Company .22LR which came and went quite quickly was also fine, and my last WMR was fine! Its all down to expectation and intended use. Personally, the trigger kits have done everything I needed! Perhaps I'm just used to the appalling trigger on my 7022, after that everything feels brilliant!

Full Metal Jacket Ammo For Fox
Deker replied to shropshire dan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Now, I know exactly what you mean, but someone may well suggest that proves the fact the 5.56 was designed to wound, 250,000 shots and only one dead! So this thread could still go on a long while yet! -
You'll be saving for next years bet now then!

Full Metal Jacket Ammo For Fox
Deker replied to shropshire dan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
And I can show you any number of Expanding that have gone clean through and left a neater hole, also a .204 V-Max that simply surface cratered a fox. I had a Muntjac some years back with a .223 expanding and couldn't find entry or exit until I skinned it, neat as they come. Shropshire dan has found his 22-250 FMJ accurate in his rifle, he has also stopped fox with it, so it works, and if it didn't then I'm sure he would cease using the ammo. That's the difference between real life and books! -

Maybe you ought to do more reading Deker. As I tied you into the book above, it's long been a military principle that wounding is preferable to killing on the battlefield because it ties up resources. Maybe you'll believe Frank C Barnes, one of the world's most famous and foremost ammunition experts. In his book "Cartridges of the World: An illustrated reference for more than 1500 cartridges" he says the following (bottom of page 1st left hand side in the link): https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=02CYCAAAQBAJ&pg=PA487&lpg=PA487&dq=us+ammo+military+designed+to+wound&am -
Full Metal Jacket Ammo For Fox
Deker replied to shropshire dan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I'm sure I've seen that rifle somewhere before , but being an old boy I've forgotten, my guess would be .38 or .357 or 44-40....whatever, circa 300-800ft lb across that range! Am I close? 357m mate. These bullets had a flat which must of helped however a 22250 will have alot more velocity. A friend tried some 45grn full patch in his 22250 and they did fine on fox too. U. -

CZ 527 American (Hornet) 2.7kg. I'm not suggesting CZ are Lite, but I struggle to see that as bloody heavy! Yes I know that the .17Hmr is heavy due to that solid lump of steel with a tiny hole up the middle but my American has a very heavy stock as well. CZ 452 4.JPG And the lad at the club has a CZ550 in .243 and that weighs a ton. I don't buy a gun intentionally by weight, but if I pick up a rifle that feels too heavy I tend to pass on it. But then again I am a decrepit old sod these days, as you can see by the lovely little bitch that replaced my Lab. G Full
