  1. I’d like a dog to have completed three seasons of hard graft before brewing from it. I think that’s enough to know, if you give it enough work.
  2. If you've got both, bugger the stairs, its out the window.
  3. If you put a harness on your dog you need pushing down the stairs.
  4. The whole rabbit job is a funny one now, you get places like that with a good rabbit population you’d think there’d be rabbits moving in as you lowered the population, but these days it often seems they are isolated pockets and once you’ve made a dent it never really seems to recover at least not for a long time anyway. When I have my farming hat on it’s quite handy, rabbits are rarely a major issue now abs easily sorted, my hunting side wishes they’d sort themselves out and breed like .....
  5. You’ll struggle to get a lot of models now - no stock
  6. Nice one. You think there will be less again next year as well ?
  7. It’s mostly all I run and it’s a nightmare isn’t it!
  8. Not sure how many working lurcher pups really are though. Keep hearing about the crazy prices but I’ve seen plenty pups being sold for sensible money 150-300 and some decent enough adults etc being gifted. There’s just two worlds now that operate side by side when it comes to dog prices .......
  9. One of those saluki whippet grey whizz banger types ?
  10. You’d just put it back to a 28” bull x wouldn’t you, to iron out any faults.
  11. I would really like to breed a really good litter of hard collie grey hounds, have a crack at breeding one that could have a good crack at most things. But theres other more pressing things to do and I'm not sure I could handle all of the collie greyhound enthusiasts i would have to have over for a cuppa.
  12. Depends how much he does ./// .. the whole a dog must be x age before you breed is half horse shit.
  13. Going slightly off topic It’s interesting talking about breeding and someone wanting to use a dog over their bitch. In theory less sh*t dogs should get bred than bitches. In theory! ?
  14. Its been a bit of a funny year. The early part of lockdown at the end of last season was great, no people about and the dog team was coming together nicely. we were having lots of sport and lots of catches. Looked forward to this season and it started well at harvest, with some real nice catches, off to a flying start. Then disaster struck, I lost my main lurcher bitch on August 30th suddenly, it knocked f*ck out of me. Found myself with a retired bitch who was going blind and a pup, so was mainly messing about with the bushers. Had some great nights off with friends coming down and visiting,
  15. I grew up with spaniels, mainly springers, my old man used to trial and stuff to a high level, and spend a lot of time working the dogs on shoots. Now he has got a cocker and springer and just works them beating and rough shooting for his enjoyment. They have lovely temps if brought up right, but when young they can be pretty hyper, they just need lots of stimulation and exercise. It depends what you want from the dog but I find if you're trying to get a lot from the spaniel. . . . . keep it away from women and kids lol. But they make nice soft pets and are pretty biddable if you get the right
  16. Some are just noisy wankers, which is either due to something in the breeding or real bad luck, or they have been started too early and are over keen. But they can certainly yip on game.
  17. It’s a funny old thing isn’t it. I don’t know if I’m a key worker or not, but it’s farming so whatever the f**k happens, be it ww3, pandemic or whatever, the cows still need milking, sheep are going to lamp and all of the usual shit. Luckily I live in a bubble, and just crack on. Having said that - it does grate just a little bit at all of the folk who are apparently bored as f**k, whilst getting paid out of the public pot, and spend every day wandering about the countryside with their dogs causing aggro on some bizarre extended holiday.
