I wasn’t talking about you when I said about folk doing nothing. Was just referring to how many folk - yourself included, will give lads on here shit for doing stuff and then do exactly the same thing themselves behind closed doors. As for your dogs earning you a lot of money month in month out, considering you live 30 mins away, there must be a hell of a lot more rabbits where you go than anywhere for miles and miles and miles around here. I’d struggle to find 100 rabbits if I scoured the place. Can’t see many folk paying me much to get rid of theM with my dogs. Anyhow if we all just kept it

Quite possibly! But I’ll stand by what I said for the most part looking at who was reading and commenting initially. There are plenty of folk who do plenty on here but I can think of a couple Who were commenting on here giving the lad shit who’ve used random stud dogs that had some bugger all and of which they knew very little. Untried, unknown, untested dogs..... and yet same folk would hang draw and quarter someone for suggesting in on here. No issue with banter or even being a harsh c**t but it’s a bit shit watching some Folk give it all that and run ppl down when they do the same

It’s ok mate I wouldn’t want to spoil anyone’s dreams. That was all my original post was about. It’s often the same folk on here slamming folk for any tiny transgression to the sacred code of Lurchers ....... and in reality what they do themselves is pretty much what they run down others for. Just a tad amusing once you’ve met a few of the hero’s ? and I hope I’m ok for studs now, I’ve two what I think are good males in my runs, so fingers crossed one proves me right.

Fair enough. I can think of at least one person on this thread taking the piss out of the lad who’s recently used a stud they didn’t know f**k all about, had never seen work and didn’t know the breeding. Oh and was 18 months old.

To be fair the lad is just asking where you would put up your dog if offering it at stud. It’s a fair point really as how often do folk come On here askin for or looking for studs. From what I can see most of what’s said on here is Jackanory anyway, half the thl recommended dogs have done f**k all and the folk giving it big licks about mega worked, mega tested, super duper line bred dogs ..... are mostly talking crap anyway ?

We still pretty soft here, and it’s mostly either very low on the winter barley or just drilling spring crops now. I know what you mean but always think by rights an animaL that’s had the nutrition of the first spring grass and has built itself up for mating season be flying now. Certainly the fox and deer seem to be strong and motoring now. Won’t be long though and bellies be full and it’s time to stop. Like I said I lamp till end of this month if weather right then we start lambing ?

That’s what I mean, it’s a monteria as far as I’m aware, so folk stood out alL over the place at crossing points, tracks, valley heads etc and several packs of beaters and dogs stirring everything up so things are running a bit blind looking behind them abs then you pounce. With the numbers and dogs we had, the only reaL way in my eyes is to pick likely pieces of Cover and surround them and push the dogs in and hope to mug one, or go to the water when it’s hot, or early morning and follow them back from There to where they lie up. No offence but I don’t buy it. How many of the lads who go on a monteria will be stood out with a predominantly sight hound blooded dog in that ground waiting to slip on a boar. Having spoken to them (including your mate Alec) they are mostly driving to guns with much much larger numbers of beaters. I believe we had four or five cover dogs between us, and the majority of folk wanted to stand there and think a pig was gonna bust past them within slipping distance and away from cover. You reckon everything is real easy now ? Maybe stuffs different here but most stuff is at its strongest about now I’d say, unless belied up. I don’t run hares really anyway mate to be honest. They are everywhere and a pain in the arse.
