  1. One thing I’ve learnt, is see the ground yourself. Minute I arrived where we were hunting I thought “Lurchers are f****d”. Anyone who’d done much with running dogs would know that ground and that quarry was seriously stacking things against the runners. There are a lot of dreamers out there and sometimes it’s hard to tell until you’re in the thick of it ?
  2. I will keep running till either we get hard ground or lambing starts. Don’t see the issue really.
  3. Went out last night and still feels like lamping weather. Will keep going till end oh month
  4. Aye sounds like a plan but we can’t take the pajero ? or my truck, or Paul’s ...... so I hate to tell you ..... but you’re driving the works van while I kip in the back or do my best impression of Dylan from the magic round about ?
  5. Reckon she’s one of the best dogs I’ve seen. The general. What a legend.
  6. Ah you were fine, but I did think ow was gonna eat you when you took us on a cultural tour of whatever Spanish city it was pre dinner ? but what was it we ate? Pig tails or something in that tapas bar? That was f***ing good ? just glad I took an ounce of the magic plant, it made everything comedy ?
  7. Just take it out and smash a couple young roe at start of season.
  8. Aye coypu. Best parts of the trip were the travel, f***ing about with coypu on the river bank, lamping roe in France abs getting lost. Smuggling some supplies through customs which made the whole thing a giggle. Messing about in Spain with my two mates abs our bushers, hunting stuff on our own. Hanging out in a villa with a bunch of ransoms, eating, drinking and bullying mushroom. Was good crack, thank god out little gang took bushers not runners or I’d have been very bored. Came home and thought we’d better sort the boar thing out and had a good size male on the deck the same week, then carri
  9. Interesting thought ...... do people actually do like proper recall training sessions ? I’ve never really felt The need unless a problem dog, mostly they want to be around you when pups anyway and if you’re out and about doing interesting stuff they just kind of follow you abs come to you, suppose the other dogs play a big role.
  10. Dunno mate, I reckon I been had.
  11. Oh don’t say that mate, I will be heart broken if he decides he wants to flatten every deer he sees. ?
  12. Bred by Jacob on here out of his dog Troy and bitch Misty, lamp dog to lamp dog, but both sired by razor. I ended up with a coursing dog ?
  13. The big fool is starting to take shape now and maturing fast. Generally a friendly biddable dog but has his moments, very smart dog and pretty independent. Jumps like a stag, despite me not doing any jumping with him ..... a couple of days ago he cleared the fence into my neighbours garden to have words with their arsehole of a german shepherd..... I’m 6 foot 3 and the fence is taller than me! He’s good feet, speed and plenty of wind. I’ve pretty much tried to keep him off to much game as we don’t really have any rabbits etc here. Killed a few rats and had a couple of races with our chosen qua
  14. You got to factor in that 50% of the hares caught .... probably weren’t to ?
  15. Aye and how many lurchers on here couldn’t catch a cold ? doesn’t represent the uk coursing scene. Weve deffo got the best but you’d be surprised how good some Of the foreign dogs can be
  16. The continental hares not having any predators once they’ve reached maturity. Understand there’s not much that’s gonna be running them down like a uk coursing mutt. But there’s a lot of wildlife out there trying to eat them and a lot of hare shooting goes on.
  17. Boar hunting and general driven gem hunting seems to be their main job
  18. They are real keen on those and teckles, both below and above - those two breeds, fox terriers and Russel’s seemed most commonly kept terrier breeds
  19. Yep pretty much that. What always made me ? was lads sitting on the bus in town with terriers, spades etc off to or coming home from digging Brock
  20. Thought it best to leave it to the other experts to have their shot lol. Also having a bad work day. Only really saw hares in Hungary, lots and lots of them. They are their own greyhound type thing the Magyar agar. They also don’t it with other stuff like bulls, they also hunt foxes. The ground is vast, vast vast vast. I went with locals so don’t know what the score is but was very relaxed. Hares aren’t really my thing, I was more interested in the foxes and martins. There are a few places I’d like to go back to, to hunt. Serbia, Montenegro etc. Slovakia was
  21. lived there for a few years, also Bosnia, Slovakia and Czech
  22. Dunno mate, theres a lot of dogs being given to folk or sold for reasonable price (under £400?). Can think of several litters and several adults dogs I’ve seen go to folk in a sensible way. Sure plenty folk are cashing in. But there are lot of folk with dogs and a small number of dog folk lol.
