  1. Dave was one of the most dedicated hunting men i've ever met, a true gentleman and a friend. A huge shock and a great loss. My thoughts are with his family. Good hunting Dave, wherever that may be...
  2. Yep, for most it's the horses and riding thats the attraction but for others it's just about everything. Either way, they ALL support hunting and contribute greatly... Anyone remember those game gals that dressed as 'bunnys' for the march in Brighton??
  3. Little lurcher off here has some, she also has 'em crossed with whippets. I'm sure she'll tell you of the pro's and con's of such a cross.
  4. I did have the full lot of WT & RD but loaned them to a good friend who was seriously ill in hospital, he made a good recovery, I hope they helped and until now have never thought of asking for them back. From what I remember it was produced in Wigan. Back then I was a member of the old Wigan dog club, which boasted a few well known faces of the terrier world. When the mag came out no one knew who had produced it, or their credentials in the working dog scene, a bit of a mystery but I did here that it was two ex coppers who had seen a nich in the market for a 'glossy' dog mag. They cer
  5. Good stuff Ray I was on the same game myself today, just a good 'ol mooch, found and ran plenty of stuff, we (me and the dogs) loved every minute. P.S. I don't blame Tod one little bit with the water, at this time of year..Feck that!!
  6. Some cracking pics of some truly beautiful lurchers, I do like this cross. I did own a Hancock beardie cross some years back, bred out of Remus, a cracking bitch for finding and hunting up, she never stopped. These days a beardie cross wouldn't suit my needs and they certainly arn't a type to 'fit' with everyone but i'd have one again thats for sure, though i'd look to finding the right Beardie. Keep the thred going folks, Beardie and Greyhound only please!

  13. By christ mate, thats a downer of a write up if ever there was..! The thing is, if you are looking for the 'ultmate all rounder', well then to be honest, they really ain't that common!! You really seem to have tried a few different types, maybe your own expectations are a little high? Yep, in a few years with running dogs i have had a few that just wernt my cup of tea but those that at least made an effort I always tried to work with and made the best of, even though I knew all to well their shortcomings, with plenty of good times along the way. I suppose what i'm trying to say is tha

  17. Fantastic, and just out for Christmas too... I'm gonna buy one for all the family, they love a good yarn.. Sorry, yawn!! Anyone else noticed, in that cover photo, he bears a striking resemblance to another publicity seeking glory hunter, the late D. B. Plummer... Edited to add, my copy is going on the mantle piece, to keep our baby away from the fire!
  18. I'd have to agree with Ideation in his first paragraph, yep, thats it, Lurcher, in it's simplest terms As for bully headed lurchers and bunny crunching... Well if folk stopped thinking that bull crosses are some altogether mythical beast and looked upon them fat headed mutts as just another Lurcher, which they most certainly are. Then schooled 'em in exactly the same way, which they should. They would realise that starting any lurcher 'firstly' on rabbits, after sound basic training, will almost certainly produce a dog that retrieves live. Yep, their are always exceptions to the ty
