  1. Attractive, current celeb... Katie Perry (but a little later a young Raquel Welsh) Unattractive, Gillian McKeith
  2. Early on... The Magic Far Away Tree, Enid Blyton Later... A Pair of Jesus Boots, can't remember who wrote it (thats a google search now i'm thinkin!) but it was about a Scouse kid called Rocky O'Rork, they made it into a tv series, anyone remember it? The Obsevers book of Dogs. Probably loads more too...!
  3. Four, years ago, from an old railway drain. Put one in from the bramble. A big Lakie followed it in and he drew it within seconds, soon as the lurcher grabbed it he had dissapeared in for a second, drew that too. He was keen to get back in again and we followed him from the top, we could see where the drain had previously collapsed and that was the stop end, then bang, right into another. By the time we cleared the shale and opened it up he'd killed it but was pretty done in, he was lifted and we pulled the fox out, letting the lurcher have a rag, only to see a fourth creep out and shoot acros
  4. Good stuff Carp, a good tale I'm glad the old ad's jogged a few memorys, they did for me. I would have had 'em all first time out, as I remember some of the articles but god knows what happened to mine. Like I said, some interesting stuff in them old mags and i'll post on different type threds as things come up. Oh yer, there's an article on Don Southerd in one of the mags, which should make for interesting reading, next time i'm laid up with flu or sommat i'll write it up on here word for word.
  5. Seen two 'Jock' films, one quite recent which was ok'ish BUT I remember one way back, it was on an early Sky or BskyB channel or sommat, my mate had it and there was all sorts of interesting stuff that wouldn't make tv today. This Jock film was SA made and the dialect was difficult to pick up on but the action... That dog was slamming into everything, for real. The film pulled no punches, i've tried to find it since but can only see the tame one. It was some eye opener! Also on those early channels was a very interesting programme about Ibizan Hounds hunting, running in packs for ra
  6. I do all of the above, I also encourage 'em as pups to play with balloons with a little air in 'em and increase the air as the pup gets older. They usually end up bomb proof.
  7. i had a bitch out of blue years a go ,blue was 3/8bull 5/8grey. he was a big dog think it was 28inch and probabley weighed over 100pound Yes thats the one,Charlies 3/8bull 5/8grey....he's 27inch and 90pound Thats a fine lookin animal Les is/was on here.
  8. the first advert is gary from leicster, who "made" the merlin x eve line of dog's !!! heard people slag gary calling him a puppy peddaler, but the coursing world owe's him, a big hand of gratitude, for having the foresight to buy these dogs in when their running careers were over and breed from them and to keep breeding them !!!! R.I.P. GAZ Just out of interest mate was the "other advert for three cracking bitch pup's a Tamworth phone number 0827........? It was mate, yes
  9. Now it ain't usually my thing to post in these coursing threds, i'd rather leave it to those qualified to do so, those who have really walked the walk, so to speak. Though my hats off to you boys, I read 'em with great interest, as i've always been an admirer of these special hounds and hope to own another Saluki blooded dog sometime soon. Anyways, about a month back, a none hunting friend asked me if I wanted some old copies of Shooting News, as her late Grandfather was a shooter and had kept all that he had, in immaculate condition. She's brought me about twelve, so far (I've asked for
  10. It's thinking about this thred that makes me realise how long i've been into running dogs.... One of the specks we used to run as kids was built on with factorys, which now have been flattened, to waste ground again! Though I don't think i'd be running any dogs there soon, nor most of the specks I used to practicly live on..!
  11. I'd betcha mine are too Shroom, it's no big deal in this bunny hugging world. Thing is, it's now 'your duty' to redress the balance and try to convince him otherwise. Softly softly is always the key, get inside. It may take a long time but if you succeed... Fair play to ya..!
  12. Reminds me of Greyfriers Bobby... Very sad, RIP.

On lightforce lamps i aways cut the lugs off, 'carefully', you could burn them off too. Then its one strip of insulation tape round the rim for a snug fit and forever easy and silent.
  14. WELL SAID PAUL AMEN REVEREND FLECK 'LET US SPRAY' LOL JAY
  15. Just my opinion but I wouldn't recommend a collie greyhound to anyone. Yes, they can be very versitile and can turn their hand to just about anything but its a cross not for either the novice, or for someone without time and dedication, and if that dedication is put in, you'll have a cracker. Bird (Ray) owns a cracker, he's very proud of his boy Bryn and rightly so BUT Ray's been into his lurchers for many a year and from what I know on here, is a latteral thinker on all things dog and has also put plenty of time and effort in to get the best out of Bryn. I'd also agree with Poach, now
  16. The member I was on about still hasn't posted... Must be too busy taking pictures..
  17. Good post Simo, with some interesting replies from those that walked the walk Back in the 's I knew of a couple of lads who made a good living from their deeds. Serious dog lads who knew it was all for the sheckle. They put the milage in and grafted hard, i know, because I was lucky enough to accompany them once or twice. It certainly opened my eyes. So far one member on here hasn't yet posted, who very kindly let me brows through his old and battered diarys from back in the day. Its all there! The realisation of what can be achieved is quite staggering, to be fair, it was a dif
  18. Where the feck's the Blencarther..? Good pic lads
  19. Did anyone say it would...?? Isn't that what the threads originally about? Yer Baw, i suppose it is but its a loaded thred, as fecking usual, like what has been said, you could look at it the other way round. The thing is, those who keep their chosen cross for a specific purpose will always do, those dogs are forever in safe hands. As for those who choose to cross whatever type to whatever type, so what, lurchers have always been a personal choice.
  20. It's the same old stuff on the same old subjects... To bull, or not to bull, that is the question..? To be honest, i don't give a feck if folk don't like 'em... Because the simple matter is that they are ALL fecking Lurchers anyway..! Personally I love all types, shapes and sizes of running dog, they all have their uses and if anyone thinks bull bloods don't own a place in this diverse Lurcher saturated world needs their heads checking out! Bull bloods came about for a reason but they are certainly not a one trick pony. Some of the best fox dogs I've seen had no bull blood in 'em and ot
