After years in the 'wilderness' of new fangled materials and words like 'wicking', I now think I've come out the other side, with the knowledge that most are simply gimmicky shite, not robust enough and fail within a season or two of daily graft in the field.... Oh yer, just one more thing, partly on the subject... How many of you have one of those whining neurotic feckers when its meal time every day, the dog tells you when it wants feeding, I never have, can't stand that and it's another thing to add to the constant measured amounts, never feed at the same time every day...!

Here's my two penneth worth to the great feed debate (without reading all before)... The average dog, be it lurcher or another is fed a far more rich diet than what is right for it and in most cases, in constant measured amounts, no different than most humans. No doubt a BARF diet is more natural than a kibble diet and a mixed diet lies somewhere in between. IMO like in humans, the dog is not built for constant measured amounts of rich grub. Rather, like a diet should be, the amounts should be varied. I hear constantly on here that BARF is more 'natural', well IMO nothing is more natural tha

I honestly think you've got to move away from the titles Staff or APBT, especially with those dogs we see daily on our streets. When talking about these breeds, over the years these two breeds have morphed into, what I would call bull bloods. They are now mostly a mish mash, the problem though is using the right bull blood for lurcher production, because that big mean 'ol dog on the street corner ain't gonna get you what you need....

All I was getting at is that so many folk think that as' they' see squatters, their bloody dog can too and then they stalk the fecker all Ray Mears like, getting ever closer and more excited, staring hard, paying no attention to a clueless youngster at their side.... THEN IT BOLTS... Off like a rocket and your beams right on it AND you slip... BUT your daft youngster is looking the wrong way and takes off in the wrong direction.... Walk the squatter up but slip when your dog has seen and is straining, YES get as close as you bloody well can....! Any more in

When they move is when your dog will see, especially if your controlling that head... Though what they can smell is not whats wanted here if thats what you are referring too...? Squatters 'may' come naturally, though, in some cases they may not... Keep your slip lead short, or a collar hold and, without causing discomfort, gently move the head toward the beam as it 'sweeps' the field. Until the penny drops. Try not to lamp aeroplanes when first entering a field, keep your beam low!! Forget about squatters, no matter how 'obvious' they may seem! Direct your dog to 'moving' targets only, directing that head gently... Let your dog 'tune in' to stuff in the beam and up and moving without a chance of a slip. Let it see moving targets, without the chance of missing, it'll 'gee' it up (don't over egg this!) and realise that the game is clo
