Why? These collars were very well tested and as stated they will not turn off with impact they turn on easily with the magnet but you have to swipe it correctly with the magnet for it to turn off. At first bellman suggested that I had placed the turned off collar near a magnetic field such as speakers a microwave etc. and that was the reason it turned on. That wasn't the case they turn on with impact so if you turn your collar off and don't place it near a magnetic field and don't drop it then there shouldn't be any issue. There's no other collar that I'm aware of is as good as the bellman, un

What most people don't know is you can turn the non rechargeable collars on with impact I realised this when I dropped my collar and it turned on. Rang bellman they said it shouldnf do that but a it definitely won't turn off with impact. Done the same with a mates one day when he had forgotten his magnet and it worked. Tried another collar one day tapped it off a fence post and it turned on.

you seem to have an opinion on most things that's for sure. -
Oh believe me, I know about dogs. Lost our black lab a few weeks ago, went off his legs. I would have paid anything to get him right.Cracked me up for two or three weeks, we were best mates, he followed me everywhere. Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about him now. Sorry to hear that, your head must have been traumatised before it happened about it ??

That does make sense yet as we all know terriers do get slightly wound up easily especially if they are tethered up while a dig is taking place, so if they are tethered together they could end up having a disagreement, I wouldn't chance it just incase even though all our terriers are not fighters. To tether them seperately would then mean having to bring multiple pins/screws etc. too much hassle. Most places are usually along the perimeter of fields or drains/rivers where posts are plentiful and so are trees so Its handy enough at times to find a decent secure place. I wouldn't recommend chain

I've never seen anybody use a poker for pinning dogs on, I suppose it would do the trick. Neil surely a small terrier would pull up a poker in peat just the same as a corkscrew though, yet a corkscrew in solid ground could maybe hold a few terriers? Personally I don't carry anything to pin terriers on, we usually put the chain handles over fence posts or loop the chain around a small tree trunk or anything steady enough to chain them to. I don't carry a bar and havnt done in a long time, reason being all the bad speculation about them and what the antis believe they are used for lol. id say so

Want To Nock A Kennel Up For My Terrier......
THE GENERAL replied to dannyevans1990's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
How do you get in it to hose it out?Probably with a hose ? -
Where in Ireland did it come from?
-
I know and have had and still keep terriers that do have a nervous trait in them, they are all out of the same line. When they are in the field or at work it's a different story though, no nerves whatsoever. I also have a young terrier out of a complete different line and he's the same. No nerves or any lack of confidence (quite the opposite) when he's out exercising or in the field. As long as it doesn't affect their working abilities and it doesn't, I don't really see an issue. Just to add they would be a tad nervous but not to the point they are cowering down and pissing themselves. lol

So are the ones in ft old ones or is there a new one out ??My digging partner bought a pulse just before this season started and its in metres, so is the other one we have in use. None of them read in ft.
-
Our pulse is in metres I didn't know they could read in ft? Doesn't really matter anyhow, I was used to the knocker box for years, when the bellman came out it wasn't an issue to work it out in meters.

I use thel clear one at times, never really rated it though but it's there along with a lot of other things I don't use often. Can be bought in most farm outlets.http://www.yorkvetsupplies.co.uk/product/multiderm-aerosol/

Lokking A Fox Only Bolting Terrier
THE GENERAL replied to baz69's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Was the fell terriers original job to account for foxs in places that could not be dug or was this just more shit to fill pages in books. That would be correct FM, if the fox wouldn't bolt in an undiggable spot it would have been killed underground. Well at least presumed dead. -
Lokking A Fox Only Bolting Terrier
THE GENERAL replied to baz69's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Theres a few different types of fox only terriers. The first is the one that will generally stay until dug to or a bolt occurs. Then there is the type that will do the above though will also have the nose and determination to dig foxes that have been ran to ground under pressure by hounds etc. usually into tight places were the real test begins as reaching its fox by squeezing and digging on is the hardest part of this terriers task not just to stay until dug or bolted but knowing to get a result were other types will fail miserably and have done in the past many times when the first type ment -
I had one at a time that would have gave his all the first 20mins then come off and just stay there no noise, nothing. He done it on a 7 ft dig early in his career in a place and it was the last time he done it.

Any links to the new Barryvox collar?
-
Never had to get it done myself, though I know a few lads local to me that have over the years and it cost around £30/£40 no more. Sounds like you've been ripped off imo.

A mate had a bitch from Wales sent over, long time ago now, she wasn't anything special but she earned her keep in his yard. He put a decent dog over her. I took a pup, the best dog to enter my yard to date. Would take another one in a heartbeat, sadly not the same about nowdays.

I shared this link before, I'm not one to argue with it. Here is a list of many of the Irish Wheaten Terriers from the past with their sire and dam, if known. This list is intended to help provide information. The information below is not the complete list of all Irish Wheaten Terriers. The accuracy of this list is not guaranteed, but rather offered as a guide. http://irishwheaten.com/?p=101

Thanks for the comments lads. For obvious reasons I wouldn't be keen on going down the tablet route as above they may affect the dog in certain ways. He's been tried in open cages closed terrier boxes and terrier boxes with open fronts. The result is always the same, sickness. The only time he travels without being sick is when he's not confined into a cage or box. He's not a nervous dog at all, it's just not nice when everytime I take him out with the rest he's covered in vomit and so is the box. I'll try some of your mentioned ideas and hopefully one of them works. Cheers
-
I've tried that also to no avail. You seen the dam work, a black bitch called Roma. She was the same very sick when travelling in boxes or cages but no sickness at all if let run free in back of van. No doubt this dog has inherited it from her.
