Any Lakie Stud's Round Christmas ?
THE GENERAL replied to roosika's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
If you rate your bitch and find a decent stud, personnally I'd like to think you would want to see the stud working and vice versa. £s should not be mentioned, your post comes across as you would pay money for a nice pure bred Lakeland dog that looks the part, though working quality wouldn't be the first priority. -

Dogs Thieves In Action In Barnsley
THE GENERAL replied to fatmoocher's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
They looked to me like they were more scared off getting caught, did they take any dogs? Though Scum off the earth either way smack heads or not. -
Good post Neil. Trials were only ever good for testing strong dogs and thats it. A high percentage of the terriers that were dug over, to provide the game for a trial were never certified! I always found that end of it ridiculous. Terrier not good enough on the day to work under strict rules because of a variety of reasons, let alone it being in an artificial. Yet that same dog had done over 4 hours a few days previous with 3 in front off him. That was all forgot about though!
-
Without the game working terrier, no strong dog off any type would ever have had the privilege to work !
-
in all due respect General Lee, your comment is based on that link/video alone, as for the old people thinking they think they know everything about 'terriers' ! Don't believe the stories that the game for a trial was dropped out off a helicopter!
-
The strict rules were in place for a reason, that's what made the difference in what some think a good strong dog is and what actually is a good strong dog!
-
Some dogs did some didn't, the dog had to draw it completely from the shore onto the field in the time mentioned. Not like in that video.

They would have officially ended with the introduction off the badgers act and all it's amendments that were made over the years, which in turn made everything associated with badgers and hunting etc. illegal. That seems the only reasonable answer to your question.

Taken from an old rule book I have, with the rules governing major trials. Rule 5. The shore size must be 11" X 11" for strong dogs and 9" X 6" for sounders and a minimum of 25 feet in length ( 35 feet maximum ). No metal to be used in construction other than a wire mesh grill ( covered with carpet etc ) to facilitate judging and which must be used. The pot will be inspected by the judges. A slide must be used.

We have both, yet we use the peips box more often. Maybe old habits and all that, in my eyes the red one I wouldn't look as an upgrade it's like a brick but let's face it your not going to be jumping all over the receiver or hitting it with spades or shovels unless your in a real frenzy to get your dog out before it walks, or your just a threw aw mental case that hasn't a clue. The noise off the peips was designed for a reason and it works well IMO. Your hardly going to keep juking at a box every few minutes when your on the way down a good depth to a terrier . With the peips you don't need to

The sire is a tidy looking yoke, very similar to a dog we had a few years back. What ways he bred mate?
-
That's true Bryan, but as Liam did say they are ment to be totally mute. Whether it's aggression, temper or just giving out, it still wasn't accepted and the dog was lifted either way.

I never knew off this guy, never heard off him before, only through this forum! That seems to be a blessing in itself! Just as well you're too long in the tooth for wise guys fatman. ; )

If she's 7 then say after 5 full seasons over her, she's bound to be well tested by now, so no better time.

Not sure about the cheapest lad. Though I vary the wormers I use on my dogs, Say a dose off Drontal then the next time I would worm them with the likes off Troscan, the time after that I'd give them Milbemax. It works for me rotating the cycle. I found when I was younger my dogs got ammune to a certain wormer, Drontal in particular! I can't prove it but by mixing them up you certainly can't go wrong. My mate gets wormers online really cheap I don't know the site he gets them from they are in the chewable tablet form and they seem to do the job, but i always worm them with a different tablet th
