Can't agree more than what Foxdropper has said, I have a young dog in the yard and he is all go. Brought him out with older dogs but he wanted in, killing rats at 20 weeks old no issue. Had him out once for a look at 6 months and I had to take him back to the van. 17months now well mannered around stock and the kids love him and he enjoys there company also, well settled. Once the season kicks off its only a matter of bringing him with me and throwing a collar on him. What or how he does is out of my hands. I've seen too many men over the years ruin not just terriers but over keen big pups and

I'm a bit embarrassed, Sam was bred up North by Billy C. who happens to be a good friend of mine.Billy sent Sam down to Pete in Dublin who then gave him to Macker. Macker then either sold or gave Sam to those who made the dogs name as a stud. I cant for the life of me understand how a dog with such a reputation passes through so many handsApparently the dog in his younger years and when up North was nothing special. Could have something to do with it, there's lads on here seen the dog at that time and would be better suited to give you an answer.

There is still dogs out there bred down from Sam. I have a dog that has some of that in his blood. Penny (Sams daughter) to Tipp Tim. Goes back about 3 generations on his Dams side.
-
Brandy was a Nuttal bitch so Id say so. Sam didn't make his big name until he went down south.
-
Sam started of in Antrim then he went down to Dublin. Worked there a few seasons then Booth and Fogarthy got him when he was about 6yr old.
-
That's right Neil Brandy was a Nuttal bitch from Co.Antrim and his sire was a Levi Oakes Border. ?

Irish staffs came from good quality Staffords from England that were then bred from for work only. That resulted in a strong line of working staffs with the likes of Geronimo. The EBT in psychos line came from North Star, both dam and sire were staff/EBT.

Just back from it yesterday after a weeks holidays. Hotel served Pescado (fish) a few days, it was ok. Had rabbit on the last day it was nice and the paella was the nicest I've tried. Seen a few places on our travels that looked like kennels with hunting dogs but I couldn't see what type of dogs was in them. Seen a few cockerels and other birds. Did see plenty of rabbits and we drove by a guy training a springer spaniel. There was road hazard signs for deer crossing as well. Thought the same myself and then read this today. What's the chances lol

Hepher you are full of shit. Stay off it, if you can't do that at least stay of the Internet, you've already made a complete example out of yourself on more than one occasion. Lads this thread is bullshit. Hepher you'll probably not login on your username now for a while, so knowing you'll see this when your reading as a guest. If you had any problem with Free staters with arms folded at a dog show you should have said you're speak, rather than being a bitch and posting comments online when you're off your head, you're a clown and anyone knows you will agree.

Airedales As Gundogs
THE GENERAL replied to roughshootairedale's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
The little I know about Airedales is they are a very versatile breed that as said can work well in a lot of different ways. I may be wrong but I think the quote "jack of all trades, master of none" would suit the Airedale as they can do a lot of specific work related jobs but there is other breeds out there that are specifically designed for that work alone and will excel when compared to the Airedale. -
Airedales As Gundogs
THE GENERAL replied to roughshootairedale's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I know foxhound45, yes he did keep Airedales had a few nice ones I don't know much about them but he did have one or two redline bred Airedales. He used them for a variety of things mostly deer tracking but unfortunately since having to relocate a substantial distance through change of job the dogs all had to be rehomed and the plans stopped there. I know what your getting at and that's fine but if you find a spot that looks overly deep and drop one of these 20 min terriers and get a mark at 10ft. I wouldn't be too keen on running up to the van to grab a good dog to drop in second when the 20 minute wonder comes off. Seen this scenario many times over the years and it can easily end in a whole handling session, in fact most times it does. You can call me what you want, but I'm too long in the tooth for that carryon. Edited to add im not scared of a good deep one or a tester for men and dog. I've had my fair share of them over the years j

I'm the most sceptical person anyone can meet when it comes to ghosts etc. as I'm not easily scared. I live in an area known as "the murder triangle" No need for ghost stories unfortunately as I've seen enough reality to last me a lifetime, it's the living you should be feared off, not the dead. Not a ghost story but a weird one I can never explain is that I'll never forget the guy that moved in next to my friends mums house, a proper weirdo he was. No one knew him he wouldn't say hello bigtime deep character and was always by himself never had any friends around. We were only kids but remembe
