  1. Read the mans post socks ffs. He's got galvanised kennels for them with mounted boxes packed with straw, you can see the corner of the pen in one of his pictures. I doubt the dogs are kept there where the pics are taken, he's stated he lives in the sperrin mountains the terriers would hardly survive the winter if what your saying is the case. I've no reason to doubt him never mind try and make a whole song and dance out of it. That's me done with the issue. Atb.
  2. Well said Big G. There's charity's out there that behave like that and try there best to give hunting folk a hard time and a bad name. Who needs them when your own kind seem capable off doing a better job on a hunting forum by looking at a poxy picture! Wise up
  3. That's all very well in a normal circumstance when what you see is inferior but perfectly suitable ... But when what you see is obviously not suitable then that's different .................. Socks. In all due respect, your last two posts are a direct insult to this man. You are judging him on a few pictures that he has posted on this forum. I can't see any issue? Nobody has questioned the condition of his dogs. The reason being, they look like they are in good order. He has stated he has different kennels for them etc. In the short time that I've been involved in dogs LOL. I've been to a few

  5. I don't think google shares your viewshttp://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patterdale_Terrier
  6. Know lads that hit on cubs in February, hardly surprising.
  7. Why remove dew claws? Kept terriers all my life and never heard the likes of it. Seems to me they just want to make a few quid. The dam and sire in the pictures don't look like workers and the sales pitch doesn't mention anything of the sort. Each to there own, to me it's money orientated.
  8. Just found this, If you look under named dog "My Tim" you will see his dam was called "Prospect Lass" I'm sure she was a proven bitch, as the men back then wouldn't have used her otherwise. Some well known names of working Wheatens on that list.http://irishwheaten.com/?p=101
  9. I've yet to see "a good one" that ticks all them boxes. I know I never will and I don't believe there ever was.
  10. Over the last few hunts I've noticed the peips dsp locater hasn't been as accurate as before. New batteries have been inserted all according to the types stated in the user manuel and it's still not just as bang on as before. Is there any way I can calibrate this box or can it be sent away to be calibrated?
  11. I know this guy lads and what he stated is true but what become off the terrier is a different story.
  12. Just came across this has anyone used one before? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00GZZIJES/ref=pd_aw_sbs_6?pi=SL500_SS115 It's says it's only 1 antenna instead of 3.
  13. That's the same advice I gave him Neil, I wouldn't be happy unless i seen the dog with my own eyes.
  14. Seems legit enough to me, maybe worth a shout. Robert Booth advertised pups in the countrymans weekly when he first came to Ireland and them dogs are still talked about to this day.
  15. Surely they're worth taking a chance on at that price regardless of the colour.
  16. Some good replies lads. Over exercising wasn't the issue that brought this to my attention, though the dog had a hard dig over him a few days prior! The other Russell's I seen it happen to were in no way related and they fitted out randomly without being over exerted, one in particular had the run of the yard and at times was aloud into the home and fitted randomly even while on medication for it. That dog lived to 16 year old but was riddled with cancer in his last days and the decision was made to end his suffering. I'm in no way saying its a problem with only Russell's it's just I have only
  17. I'm certain he meant they are completely silent when digging as in removing quarry after a terrier has been dug too. If it interests some folk I'd say he will answer any questions off the open forum regarding that issue. Maybe he worded it that way for a reason, as he didn't want to highlight that aspect. I wish him the best off luck as I would never try and knock anyone with a passion for a breed of dog that has a hunting capability trying to bring out the best in them. Surely there's types and strains off working dogs out there that specialise in the fields an Airedale may cover, I hope hes
  18. A friend of mine has a Russell and he was in a hard place a couple off weeks ago, the dog wasn't overly deep but hard going so he rang me for help. Everything ended well, until a day or so later and he rang me saying the Russell was taking fits/seizures every half hour and what to do? It got me thinking I've seen Russell's do that before. I mind one day whe ran a bank with a fellas Russell and the dog was static but being a sounder no noise no vibrations nothing, after a while the dog came out and shook itself. The place wasn't overly hot anyhow but we ran another terrier just to double check
  19. Remember entering a ferret in a huge place in the middle of a field after seeing about 20 rabbits run in to it.We had only got the grey box a couple of weeks earlier and did not really know much about it.There was also a local radio station about half a mile away and after no rabbit bolted we said not to worry we will dig to the ferret using the locater. My mate turned it on and 1st thing we heard was the birdy song,f*****g hilarious, waited about 2 hours for the ferret to eventually reappear. At least the music kept you's occupied Fat man lol
  20. Even with locaters I've seen dogs lost to ground, the old knocker box was good when it was working. Manys a time over the years they got wet even when taped up or interference with electricity pile ons etc. I remember putting a fox into a concrete pipe and dropping a mates red fell dog. There was an electricity pile on in the field, We couldn't get a mark on the dog with the interference so after hours off listening crawling about to no avail we sent for another dog even though it wasn't practical because all we had was the grey knockers so what was to say we'd not loose two dogs? The second
  21. Bought a Cree from china, the batteries must have been dodgy it wouldn't work after I was charging it and it blew the industrial fuse in the house and I had no spares as the batteries were a funny size I hadn't seen before. After a whole handling match I posted it bk to the seller at near the cost off the lamp. Got new 1 worked ok until batteries died, charged them light was green inserted them into torch not a bit off power! Im afraid to charge them again incase it blows the fuse off the house like the first 1, so I'm back to square 1. Anybody got any advice or had similar experiences? Just t
