  1. Nice matty, I could do with one myself, maybe next year...
  2. Have you tried rws z langs in the 1417 David ? I use them in mine and find them accurate out to 50 yards with a bit more energy than your patriot. So if you do sell it, you might find that these do what the patriot does anyway. Just a thought...might help you to decide?
  3. Too many pros and cons to reach a definitive answer I reckon. I also shoot .20 and .25, just to complicate it more,lol.....
  4. I've got BKL mounts on my anschutz .22 and I've been impressed with them for the money, seem very sturdy. Also I have a mamba lite on my rapid and I'm happy with that. MTC Genisis is good as well but adds more weight. Neither have ever moved zero on my guns.
  5. Had a nice stroll with my 20 auto, it was nice in the late October sunshine. Also got a jay when I got back to the truck, not in the pictures.
  6. 4 feet wide and only 1 inch tall, that's why nobody likes me...
  7. Yep, that's .22's for you. They decide what ammo they like. I've found that the little anschutz that I have now isn't too ammo fussy at all, which is fortunate really as I can use most ammo in it and get usable performance, with a few exceptions. It also shoots high velocity rounds well.
  8. So long as the crown is good it'll be fine at 12:1/2 inch in .22lr.
  9. CCI subs are about on par with the winchester subs for accuracy in my anschutz. But the segmenting cci's were poor. Remington subs are not so good either. Eley and sk are more accurate than most for me, always accurate and consistent. CCI velocitors I find OK as well and they hit hard.
  10. That was a great video, very watchable and good shooting too. Well done Rez and thanks for sharing.
  11. Making me hungry, and I've not long had my tea....lol
  12. Well, I decided to do a comparison of a few rounds I have, including, out of interest, some reduced charge loads at a longer range than I've tried them before. As I had better than expected results at 50 yards from the rws z langs, I thought I'd push them out a bit further just to see if they could still hold a group. Nothing scientific, but I set a shooting bag up on my bonnet and at 71 yards with the range finder I shot at the top right target using the top of the lower post reticle as my aimpoint. As such, the bullets were landing on the bottom right target but the grouping, although starti
  13. Here's one I did earlier......in the daytime. Picture's a bit destorted though. Fast asleep now......
  14. As said, good tools where you can't use a rimfire. At around 30 ft lbs they hit with so much more authority than an sub 12. I've been looking at the FX Cyclone fac, with three power settings at around 12, 18 & 26 ft lbs it's got to be a versatile vermin gun IMO.
  15. A daft law based on prejudice, won't achieve anything IMO. They're determined to push it through, no matter that it doesn't serve any useful purpose. When it comes into force, it'll mean that if you live in Scotland it will be easier to get a shotgun certificate than one for a sub 12 ft lb air gun. If all the people that would've been satisfied with an air gun, then decide that they may as well have a shotgun instead, it'll serve them right.
  16. Can't beat it jonnie, a bit of plinkin' fun you had fella. The hollowpoints have flattened out a bit by the look of it.
  17. I've been there, and looking back across the water you realise that anyone would have to be a very strong swimmer. But then, they'd have definitely had the incentive to give it everything to make it across.
  18. Just out of interest. What carts and choke were you using Mark?
  19. First time out this season got four mallard, plenty coming in. Here's two of them, now ready for dinner tonight.
  20. Nice rifles Mark, the 127's. I'd buy one tomorrow at the right money.
  21. I dug my old .177 Vulcan out last year, had a few shots and put it back away. Never shot it since because it is so snappy and harsh to fire it makes me wonder how I ever used to hit anything with it, and it's shot loads back in the day. I wouldn't part with it though. Had it new in 1979. My memories of it are somehow better than the reality.
  22. Aftermarket chokes. It's probably been done before but I'd be interested in who's using what, and your opinion on their performance and any pattern testing anyone may have done please.
  23. If you're shooting live quarry, I reckon you owe it to you're quarry to not only check zero, but also take regular practice shots as well. If you don't, the chances of wounding have got to be higher IMO.
