  1. If you want a new one I'd go for an armsan. Otherwise I'd go for a used beretta 301,302,303 and at that price it won't lose any value.
  2. Good shooting, the 1417 is a good little rifle isn't it?
  3. Good shooting fella, I'd like to see the hw with the cs500 fitted as I'm thinking about ordering one myself. Any chance of a pic or two?
  4. I lost count last year, there's been a bit of a lull these last couple of months, but now the feeders are in use they're back. I'm sure I'll be getting a few most weeks from now until next spring.
  5. I bought a new .177 tempest in 1979, ive still have the box with price sticker on it £28:29.. Nowhere near as nice as my .22 senior though. Hmmmm Webley senior, real nice pistol, I would have one if one ever comes up at the right money, I nearly bought one(well my dad nearly bought me one) about 1978 I think, but ended up going for the BSA Scorpion pistol, shot loads of stuff with that. They are a lovely little pistol, the seniors, mines doing 5.1 ft lbs with wasps and shoots really sweet. Much nicer than the snappy tempest that only produces 3.5 ft lbs. I think the webley pistols suit .22
  6. Tempest wasn't in production until 1979, yours must have been a premier mk2.
  7. That's a good output jonnie, especially being .177.
  8. Just set up at 25 yards, sort of. My old Burris scope ran out of upward adjustment and POI was still an inch low but I easily managed five shot groups that could be covered by a penny with the new 'wasp' pellets. Not tried any others yet as I ran out of time. I need to swap scopes first anyway.
  9. Well, after much messing with different scopes this afternoon, I didn't get around to any accuracy tests today. I did have time to weigh some pellets and persuaded the 99 to spit a few over the chrono. The original 'eley wasps' weighed an average of 14.5 grains and with an average velocity of 597fps gave 11.48 ft lb energy. Next I weighed some of the new 'wasp' pellets and these too averaged 14.5 grains and an average of 604.8 fps @ 11.75 ft lbs energy. Champion copper waisted weighed 12.2 grains and at 585.7 fps they were producing 9.34 ft lbs energy. Marksman pointed weigh a very consistent

  11. Will be interesting to find out jonnie. I've just picked up a tin of the new "wasps" and they don't look as bad as I was expecting. Not as well finished as the old ones and a smoother finish. I'll be doing a comparison to see how they perform in the 99.
  12. Up to yet, hobby but I've got a lot more to try yet. I'm got some British ones to try like marksman, champion and I haven't tried eley wasp in it yet. I'll weigh them and give them a go over the chrono and test them for accuracy. When I've done that I'll post my findings and put some pics up when I've got time in the next week or two.
  13. Pitty that, I might buy a tin of the new ones anyway, just to try them against the originals..
  14. Are these the original eley wasp or the new "wasp" pellets. I've got some of the old ones but I've read that the new ones aren't as good as they used to be.
  15. Don't forget your Allen keys next time jonnie.....I've done similar many times.
  16. 60 yard zero for subs also gives me 100 yard zero for hv's or thereabouts, depending on the brand/ammo, so for me it's worth carrying a few. Cheers for that I may well try out that theory. I need to get hold of something better than the winchesters though, my brno hates them. I know you cant expect the same level of accuracy with hv. But they were rubbish! Love tge tips its really helping me gain some experience. Just back from holiday so hopefully get some shooting done before I go back to work on thursday. You should be able to find some HV's that suit your rifle, RWS or SK would be wor
  17. Just had a look at Custom Stocks website and I see they're now doing stocks inletted for the HW99. I've got to say I'm tempted to order one. Anybody got one already? From £185 plus extras.
  18. Wrens are living in a wicker nest box just outside my living room, in and out all the time in the evenings...
  19. Good shooting Bob, well done fella.
