  1. I've found tenex to be the most accurate bullet in my anschutz. I bought some in a mixed lot a few years ago. Shooting off a bag at 75 yards, they were one ragged hole.
  2. Ive got plenty of old part boxes and stuff and sometimes use a few, never had a bad one, but they're kept dry and in good condition. I went crow shooting with my uncle in the seventies, and he provided the ammo, in the form of 3" eley magnums in bb shot? Don't know why, or if he got them cheap, but they killed crows alright anyway. Well I've still got some, not that old I know, but forty odd years, and they still work just fine.
  3. Just seen one for sale in a gun shop the other day. £375 gulp, I couldn't believe it, thought the 3 was a mistake, but no!
  4. What do you mean by playing with the cows? Lol.....
  5. Looking forward to you're report when it's had a bit of use fella.
  6. I think most people who carry a few high velocity rounds do so in case the need arises. It makes the .22 or more versatile just like reduced velocity rounds do. It's more practical than carrying two rifles in case you might see a fox, is it not? Also, talking of ricochets, I found it interesting to find Winchester subs that had skimmed off short wet grass at fifty yards, carried another fifty yards before slamming sideways into an eight by four 3/8 inch ply. The bullets had just embedded themselves and not penetrated through, so most of their energy had been lost as they toppled the last fift
  7. Not read anything bad about them. All good reports and not a lot of money. Only a quarter the price a my A400 Xtreme which is good, but is it four times better than the armsan? Worth a punt I reckon. In fact, I've been thinking about a cre8 for a while now.
  8. Just changed my shirt, thanks for the heads up....
  9. I picked some rws high velocity up a couple of months back, and very accurate they are too. I carry a few as I think they're better for those hundred yard shots. Definitely smack home a lot harder than the subs but I don't use many.
  10. History 9 o'clock tonight.
  11. A walk through the woods returned a mixed bag of jay, crow, woody and a Maggie that I couldn't retrieve. By the time I got back to the truck it was dark.
  12. Custom stocks Sheffield. They did stocks for a theoben and still do. Have a look at their website.
  13. But if it's bigger than a small dog, ones enough,lol.....
  14. As I understand it, the 42max are replacing the 40 grain Winnie's. I tried a box and found them to be slightly more accurate than the old 40 grain wins in my anschutz 1417. Very nearly as accurate as the eley subs in the same rifle.
  15. I would, but WHSmiths don't sell porn, have to make do with woman's weekly nowadays...hide it under that.
  16. Had a box of them years ago, i think they were ok if I remember right. Of all the high velocity .22's, I liked the eleys best, found them just as accurate as subs but can't get them anymore.
  17. Just a small rat at about five or six yards. Did the job, no problem.
  18. It's probably the gun to blame. I've found airsporters in .22 only to be accurate with eley wasp. They need a tight pellet because of the 5.6 bore. But then, what do I know,lol.....$od all probably.. I've had two and they both shot poor groups with anything but wasps/pylarms. Other pellets were down on power as well, by a good couple of ft lbs.
  19. Saw a few squirrels about before the rain started proper. Side by side out for a change.
  20. I remember looking through a French catalogue, like the French equivalent of "Great Universal", back in the seventies. What sticks in my mind is the pages titled " pistolet a' air". Some guns in that catalogue that I hadn't seen before, but there seemed to be a lot to choose from compared to our British catalogues.
  21. Rules don't bother these sort of people, stiff or otherwise. They were already breaking the law and if they hadn't used an air pistol they'd have used something more dangerous. Like a knife or a baseball bat for example.
  22. You can't legislate against nutters like that. It's them that need to be banned, from society.
  23. My old .22 senior, it spits eley wasps out at 400 fps. In a different league to my .177 tempest, that's a poor relation by comparison. In fact, I haven't seen the tempest for twenty odd years, although I've still got it, somewhere, lol.....
