  1. I got some from southertons guns, called in on the way back from cleethorpes. Also got them at nevilles but I don't know about Norfolk. They work well enough in my anschutz, better than expected to be honest.
  2. Are hex nuts accurate compared to ball bearings or lead balls?
  3. Interesting stuff. A bit more fiddly than a Rapid though eh? lol.......
  4. Some had no rifling, made for countries that don't allow rifled barrels and for fairground guns. They'll be ok at short range but without the spin imparted from a rifled barrel, the pellets won't travel far before they lose stability and start to tumble.
  5. Make sure it's got a rifled barrel, some are smoothbore.
  6. The rws z longs are the most accurate I've tried of these 29/30 grain reduced velocity loads. They have around a two inch drop at fifty yards with a sixty yard zero for sk subs. I've tried the cci quiets, found them accurate as well, but slower and heavier so they have a more loopy trajectory. The .22 shorts were faster and didn't seem to drop any lower at fifty yards than standard subs at sixty yards but accuracy wasn't good enough at that range.
  7. Always willing to try different ammo, if anybody's interested, I picked up a couple of lower powered .22 offerings from RWS. I bought a couple of boxes of Z Longs and Shorts. Both loaded with a 29 grain solid bullet. At 25 yards both gave acceptable accuracy and pretty much 1p sized groups were easy to achieve. The Z Longs left the muzzle of my 14 inch barrelled anschutz at an average velocity of 858.8 fps / 47.5 ft lbs energy and arrived at 25 yards with a retained velocity of 770.4 fps / 38.23 ft lbs. the .22 shorts were faster at 983.9 fps / 62.35 ft lb at the muzzle and retained 927.8 fps
  8. Two for two shots, didn't get anything else but can't complain.
  9. I got a squirrel last year in the same area as I've seen them recently, but at the moment I've got no ammo.
  10. Found this one today while dismantling a shed...
  11. What's the stuff to use for squirrels, rats etc and where to get it? All I see for sale is the usual offerings from Barnett. Is it worth moulding your own?
  12. Just took the sxs out for the first time in ages as I usually take a semi auto or .22. Made a nice change and bagged a rabbit and shot a big fat rat nearly as big as my foot,lol...just a quick mooch.
  13. Went for a walk last week, no catty and there were squizzers everywhere. Think I might be back sometime soon as this has just reminded me...
  14. Nice work, looks like you got it done just in time for dinner being served....
  15. Does the job well enough anyway. 10.5 ft lbs in .177 is a useful tool. I shot loads of vermin with an 8.5 ft lbs .177 and I didn't even realise about the power at the time. I could hit the mark with it and that's what mattered. I used it every day and it became an extension of me, hence my success, probably...lol. Them were the days eh?
  16. Thanks for the info.
  17. It's surprising what those little .17's will do.
  18. Good shooting fella. I've been thinking about getting an hw100kt in .177, just wondered how they compare with the rapid mk1?
  19. Nice one Remy, well done fella. Is it a gamo viper you've got there fella?
  20. SK's are worth a try. My 1417 was a bit stiff when it was new, smooth as silk now. Yours probably needs a bit of use. I did have to take the extractors out of mine as they seemed to be a bit stuck in their seating. I cleaned them as they were a bit gungy. No problems since. If you do remove them, take note which side each one comes from as they're slightly different.
  21. Well done, I recently had a ratcatcher given to me. Haven't tried it out yet though.
  22. A good write up remmy, thanks for sharing. What model is the gamo, is it a viper?
